Fat rats scurried off while biting onto bits of thrown food in the dim alleyway. They passed by a puddle of fresh blood, through which a ripples spread.
Tracking through the blood stains, a man laid facing his back on the alley's wall. The man shakily searched his pocket, hoping for a cigarette.
"Ha...." A dismayed grunt left the man's mouth.
The half moon was eventually exposed as the dark clouds moved away. Which illuminated the world below it vividly.
"Sigh...I wanted to at least die in a cool way..." Disappointnt flashed within his eyes.
The man dazedly stared at the moon, exposing his red eyes and 28-year old face. His jet black hair was covered in a thin layer of dust.
His appearance was exceedingly ordinary. If not for the atmosphere around him, exposing his experience in the underworld, No one would pay attention to this man.
"Haa...haaa....phuuu!" The man's vision grew blurry by the second.
"Arghhh!!" Taking out the dagger stuck on his waist, the man stared at it, or more specifically at the symbol that was embedded proudly on it.
"Haha...ha, fucking bastards...! Even after such a long ti..."
The man, Zick, couldn't help but clench his teeths with deep hatred. His bloodlust could make anyone think twice when walking towards him.
The Ethereal, A foreign world's organisation had taken everything away from him. His family, his future and even his sanity. Making him live like a rat in the underworld, running away from one place to another.
Ethereal had taken over the world's black markets, controlling the countries behind the scene.
The dagger slipped past his pale fingers, falling into the deep red blood pool.
'Wasn't I the chosen...? Being transmigrated to this world, with so huge cause. Don't I have to accomplish sothing...?' Bitterness spread deep within Zick's heart.
Clack-clack~
The sound of a pair of footstep headed towards him, with high heels disturbed his train of thought.
Turning towards the footstep, Zick saw a breathtaking beauty. A black and red sabre hung on her waist, she walked gracefully giving off a feeling of not existing in the sa world.
Her long purple hair cascaded behind her, with a high ponytail showing her proud deanour. Her pinkish-purple eyes calmly looked at Zick's dying body.
"Aster..."
A sharp light flashed by Zick's eyes, unknowingly he rembered another painful mory. A wave of pain arose from his right chest, where a huge scar was located.
Zick's body was riddled with countless scars, so were healed while so still remain to this day.
The scar that Aster gave Zick was the biggest currently, Both physically and ntally.
Disgust and hate appeared within his eyes, which stared at Aster. However, his hate wasn't as deep as when it ca to Ethereal.
It was because Zick was a little grateful to Aster. Her stabbing him at the chest had allowed him to break away from his gambling addiction. At that ti, he had really fallen into the depths of craziness.
That was her second ti stabbing him actually, Aster had done the sa thing when he was 18 years old too. Poisoning him, taking away all his talent and potential.
She was really a royal dog to Ethereal.
Hence, When Aster arrived beside him, Zick weakly uplifted the corner of his lips, forming into a sneer. In the end, his hatred won over that little bit of gratitude.
Zick opened his bloodied mouth, ignoring the pain all over his body.
"Khuu! What...? Your boss seems quite angry, seeing he dispatched you to take care of ." Zick's sneer grew larger.
"....." Aster apathetically stared back into Zick's fierce gaze.
Silence spread around the alleyway.
"Tch! You haven't changed one bit..." Zick was the first to turn away. He wasn't surprised by Ethereal sending soone strong to make sure he stays dead.
Zick lived like a vengeful ghost throughout the past six years. Making Ethereal suffer again and again, by getting in their way. The number of tis he escaped from death was more than a hundred.
In Ethereal's eyes, Zick was worse than a cockroach.
Aster calmly watched as life escaped Zick's body, who could be considered a friend. Of course, that was in the past.
She plunged her sword into Zick twice so far with an unscrupulous attitude. A betrayal of friendship that can never be nded throughout their life. Few mories arose within her, from back in the academy.
Zick ignored Aster and closed his eyes. He knew in his heart, this was the end. The fact he survived so long was sothing to take pride in, however he felt nothing. Only a deep sense of weakness took over him.
'Afterall...I couldn't avenge my parents...' lancholy spread across his mind.
At that mont.
[Luck overflows (EX-rank)- Activated.]
It was his only innate skill, which was unreliable to the extre. It activated once every two years, at random timing.
Zick had a subconscious rejection to this skill, as it was the main reason that caused his fall into an gambling addict. The activated duration of the skill was less than one day too.
It was like he was using all his luck for the next two years
'Sigh....' Zick didn't hold any unreal hope for this skill. He just slowly accepted the coldness that arose within his body.
Zing!
Zick frowned listening to the sudden screeching sound.
[The destiny system has detected a suitable host!]
The strange interface made Zick's dull mind even more confused. The voice speaking in his mind made him feel unreal.
[Detected the host's life in danger. Automatically opening the beginner's pack! Good luck.]
A gift box appeared within Zick's vision . When it opened, a bright golden light blinded him. A sense of hope rose within him, he knew just how abnormal his [Luck overflow] skill was.
Though he still had doubts whether he was imagining things or not, Zick was resolute when the ti ca, hesitating would not get him anywhere!
[Calculating rewards....]
[Rewards: 10 years regression card, system upgrade fragnt *1 and High concentration ionc drug *3.]
Zick's vision grew darker by the second, but he was still able to read through the rewards. With all his remaining consciousness, he responded to the destiny system.
'...Accept and use the regression card!'
His mind plunged into the darkness, not waiting for the system's response.
