Lawrence Winters is still on sick leave, planning to take another week off until her arm feels better before returning to work.
Anyway, lately NewHuman Entertainnt Ltd. has been peaceful, with no major events happening, so as the spokesperson of the PR departnt, she’s been quite idle.
Her only signed artist, Lucas Harlow, is busy filming his first TV series at the production base.
He’ll soon be sending her ssages complaining about how exhausting filming a TV series is, and with the shoot lasting four months, he’s already considering not doing TV series anymore.
Of course, Lawrence wouldn’t agree directly, but she wouldn’t oppose him either. She just sweet-talks Lucas into filming happily.
Just like that, not long after contemplating her casual wear, Lucas called her again.
"Lawrence, good morning." Lucas has been calling quite frequently, reporting in the morning and evening, and the main topic is how long the filming period is and how many scenes there are, making him want to quit.
Lawrence quickly answered the phone with a smile, saying, "Lucas, good morning. Did you have breakfast? How many scenes do you have today?"
Lucas was sitting in his van, on the way to the set, and replied, "I haven’t eaten yet; I’ll eat at the set. Last night we fild until midnight before wrapping up and returning to the hotel. It’s really exhausting. Manager, can we negotiate not to take TV series in the future?"
Lawrence chuckled and continued to persuade him, "Lucas, you’re at a critical mont to beco a top-tier star! It’s the darkness before dawn. Once you get through this, you’ll truly be the number one in the dostic film industry! You have acting skills, box office appeal, awards, looks, and talent. You’re just missing one thing: high ratings."
"Once you finish this show and the ratings soar, you’ll be the undeniable number one!"
"Then we can carefully select scripts, significantly increase your pay, and achieve a win-win!—Wouldn’t that be wonderful?"
Lucas slightly curled his lips and, after Lawrence finished talking, he reluctantly said, "Alright, I’ll give it another try."
"You must persist! Once I return from the Southern Region, I’ll bring you so treats!" Lawrence almost blew a kiss to her phone.
Lucas was slightly dazed, "You’re going to the Southern Region? Is your injury healed?"
"It’s almost healed." Lawrence said while opening her wardrobe, looking for a decent dress, "A friend of my friend is getting married, so I’m going to join in on the fun."
"A friend of your friend is getting married, what’s there to join in on?" Lucas knew Lawrence wasn’t soone who liked flashy affairs.
Lawrence laughed, "This party is a must! You know the Spencer Group, right?"
"I know. Why? Don’t tell your friend’s friend is marrying into the Spencer Family?" Lucas was quite familiar with the top ten on the national wealth list.
"You’re right! They’re marrying into the Spencer Family, specifically Caron Spencer’s family!" Lawrence laughed out loud.
Lucas also laughed, "Stop joking. Caron Spencer’s eldest son passed away, and the youngest son isn’t even a year old; how is your friend getting married?"
"You just don’t get it," Lawrence said, tilting her head and holding the phone between her shoulder and cheek, "Caron Spencer doesn’t have a son of marriageable age, but he has a daughter of marriageable age. His second daughter Sumr Spencer is taking a husband, and my friend’s friend is a guy. He’s marrying into the Spencer Family; isn’t that getting married?"
Lucas understood and said, "So that’s the wedding; it’s worth joining the fun. I heard the Spencer Family is hosting it grandly, inviting many famous artists to perform, even sending an invitation. But I don’t have ti, so I declined."
"I heard so too, which is why I must go. Maybe I can sign so artists looking to jump ship..." Lawrence chuckled and winked, "I only have Lucas as an artist; it’s a bit risky. You might terminate your contract anyti and go back to inherit your family estate, and what am I supposed to do? Starve?—I must plan ahead!"
"What nonsense, you have . Isn’t that enough?" Lucas said aningfully, "I didn’t expect you to be so money-minded."
"Of course not enough, who would mind having too much money?" Lawrence laughed heartily, accidentally making her phone fall to the ground with a thud.
She bent down to pick it up, realizing the call had ended.
She didn’t bother to call back.
Lucas hung up the phone, and his smile hadn’t faded from his face.
Jason, his assistant who had been quietly sitting next to him, finally asked curiously, "Lucas, why do you tell Lawrence every day that you don’t like filming this series?—You obviously love it!"
