Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Annie

" Your instincts are telling you to eat this thing?" She asked and Adrian nodded, she seed to be thinking about sothing then gave it to him.

" Eat it, if your instincts are telling you to then it must be beneficial to you."

He took the heart and looked at it for a long ti, he was hesitating, this thing looked quite disgusting.

Eventually he just closed his eyes and bit into it, as he had expected it tasted terrible and left a burning sensation in his mouth.

He was about to give it back to her when he felt his body heat up, it was as if ants were crawling through his veins.

It was an uncomfortable feeling, it lasted only a few seconds then ca a wave of relaxing warmth.

" What was that?" He asked with surprise, he couldn’t understand what had just happened.

" Is this how drugs feel?" That warm feeling felt too good, he wanted to feel it again just like how addict keep wanting drugs.

ggie raised her glasses with a finger then smiled. " Congratulations, you find your advancent path.

And it seems to be a straightforward one, many would be jealous." He raised his eyebrow at her.

" What are you talking about?" He asked, she placed down her pen and stared at him.

" It’s ti I explain the esper world, you already know there are races like witches." She pointed at her self.

" There are many other races, vampires, rmaids, ogres, trolls etc. All of these intelligent magical races are collectively called the Fayera.

You now fall under that umbrella, you’re a Fayera, though I believe you’re the only one of you kind.

Then there are humans, most humans can’t use esper energy, these are called the ordinary.

However amongst humans, occasionally there are those born with the power to use esper energy, they are called the Espara.

When an Espara has a child, that child will inherit their Esper ability or sothing similar.

Because of that amongst the humans there are Espara clans, so are old, really old and so new.

These clans are what ford the organisation that deals with out kind, they claim to protect the ordinary."

Adrian noticed she did not say they protect the ordinary but that they claim to aning the organisation was not a kind or heroic group as advertised.

She continued, " There’s another group called Gadra, Gadra are basically what humans would call monsters.

They are savage creatures like wild animals, because of that, most of them were sealed in the enchanted domains around the world.

Now back to the advancent path. That is unique for each race, take witches like myself.

In order to advance we need to study and learn more and stronger spells, it’s the only way unless we use forbidden dark magic.

However learning spells is not easy, even those of your own covenant." She sighed with a tired voice.

" Covenants, I’ve heard you talk about that before, what are those?" He asked.

" They are schools of magic, each witch is born into a covenant. It’s easier for a witch to learn spells of their covenant than others.

You can consider it talent, it doesn’t an they can’t learn spells of other covenants but it’s harder.

Take

as an example, I’m of the alchemy covenant but I’ve dabbled in elent magic."

She cast a spell after saying than and Adrian felt the wind pick up in the room and a small tornado appeared throwing the papers into the air.

" That’s wind magic, it’s not powerful enough to threaten anybody in my hands but if a witch of the elental covenant used it, they would rip this room apart.

You understand?" He nodded, she continued explaining the different ways other races advance.

Vampires for example advance through two ways, age and blood. They could either sit still and grow old, eventually they would be beco strong.

Or they could consu the blood of the strong and absorb the esper energy in that blood.

There are many more ways for different races to grow but the most common seem to be consuming humans, especially the Espara.

Then are those who just need to train their abilities like the Espara themselves. Then there was him.

According to her his path is consuming the esper hearts of other races, possibly any race.

She couldn’t be sure yet, if Adrian rembered the night of his first transformation he would know he can consu even demon hearts.

" Thank you." He got up and left but before he closed the door he heard her telling him to not even dare leave the house.

He clicked his tongue, Adrian had fully intended to go out and hunt more Gadra in the sewers if there are any.

Having super powers was aweso but learning those powers can grow even stronger is better.

He went to his room and closed the door, then played a video ga on his phone to pass ti.

He listened to her and didn’t leave the house for a week and he was bored out of his mind.

----------------------------------------------------------

A week after Adrian arrived in Lagon city, a beautiful young girl around 17 years old went into the police station.

The girl had a big afro, her beautiful face was stained by the obvious worry.

" Hello, hello." She called out to the police woman sitting at the front desk.

The police woman raised her head, " Hello, how can I help you?" The police woman asked with irritation.

" I would like to open a missing person’s case."

" Who are you opening the case for?"

" A friend of mine, he disappeared around a week ago in Moonville."

The police woman looked at her with irritation, " Girl stop wasting my ti, if he disappeared in Moonville, shouldn’t you have asked the sheriff there?"

Annie fidgeted with her fingers, " I tried but they said they can’t help

and I should open an investigation with the Lagos police departnt.
