Chapter 81: Chapter 081: The Mantis Stalks the Cicada
The moonlight from above stretched Bob’s shadow long, one half of his face concealed in darkness, his expression grim with a tinge of excitent.
“How did you know it was ?”
A hint of confusion crossed his face.
Roger certainly wouldn’t tell him that Anna had discovered his tracks, he didn’t answer the question but instead scrutinized Bob closely.
“That idiot Nick must have been egged on by you.”
“Exploiting our past conflicts, Nick naturally sought revenge against , let guess, a young man humiliated at a gathering.”
...
“Once he sobered up, he would certainly choose to leave there at the first opportunity.”
Roger looked around, “Night, the pitch-black forest, coupled with a heartbroken young man, in this kind of environnt, it wouldn’t be strange if he accidentally got lost or sought an early exit.”
Roger stared at Bob, hidden in the shadows, “Nick wanted to take revenge on , but you want my life!”
“Right?”
Roger asked, his voice icy.
“Hmph…”
Bob let out a cold chuckle, “It seems in addition to being hot-blooded, you are also quite clever.”
He stepped out of the shadow, revealing a face half-covered with dense black hair.
“But if you know my intention, why bother coming here to et your death?”
The Bob from before was tall and a key mber of the school team, but ever since the Simpson incident, his health had deteriorated, and everyone thought it was due to extre sorrow.
But now it seed, this was likely the result of that eerie ritual.
“The beneficiary of that ritual wasn’t Sherman, it was you!”
Roger exclaid.
“It seems you know more than I thought you did.”
A fierce look flashed across his face, Bob stepped forward.
“It’s all because of you, if not for you, those four people should have all died in the forest that day!”
“With their Soul Shards absorbed, I could have evolved into a new species, with greater power, longer life!”
“You ruined everything.”
“Don’t think I don’t know what happened at the mansion that day, where you and a strange man went, it was you who killed father, wasn’t it?”
Roger furrowed his brow.
That day, Henrik had cleaned all the caras in the manor, and they had checked carefully—there was nobody else there.
But Bob…
“I suppose even if I told you now that we didn’t kill the person, you probably wouldn’t believe it.”
Roger sighed.
“If you’re convinced we are the murderers, then why did you go to the station to identify Ivy?”
“You ask too many questions!”
Bob’s muscles bulged, the other half of his face swiftly sprouting thick hair as well.
A growl ca from his throat, his canines bared, his eyes glinting with a beast-like light.
“I will tear you apart, then slowly eat you!”
“Snap!”
Roger removed the straps from his body, and the music box on his back fell to the ground.
“Thank you for creating this opportunity yourself, so when you die, no one will suspect .”
The mont he finished speaking, he launched the first attack.
Without employing his hidden Longsword, Roger’s dagger in his hand pierced out like a venomous snake.
Upon reaching level 3, the dagger seed to beco a part of his body. Under the blessing of his powerful physique, the blade moved with incredible speed.
“Roar!”
The sound coming from Bob’s throat was completely unlike a human’s. At this mont, he stood about two ters tall, the skin exposed outside was covered with thick hair.
His body made a slight undulation, and he swiftly sprung onto a nearby tree, nimbly leaping from tree to tree, seeking a fatal blow in the darkness!
But what Bob didn’t know was, through the continuous use of Spirit Communication Water, even without taking the Night Cat Potion, Roger was now able to clearly track Bob’s leaping shadow in the darkness.
Roger’s pupils shrank into tight specks as he gripped the dagger in a reverse hold, with the tips of his toes lightly touching the ground, ready to launch an attack at any mont.
Roar!
Just then, a wolf howl emanated from the bushes behind him, followed by a dark shadow pouncing toward him. At the very mont the shadow moved, Roger instantly reacted.
Without ti to turn around, his body retreated backward, his waist and abdon powering the movent, taking advantage of the spinning mont to slash with his dagger like a bolt of lightning!
Pfft!
The dagger pierced the flesh, warm blood spattering outward, but at that mont, Roger’s pupils contracted violently.
He hadn’t stabbed Bob but a wild wolf exuding a stench.
“This guy can actually control beasts?!”
A shock ran through his mind, and simultaneously, a gust of wind attacked from behind his head, accompanied by a cruel voice, “You’ve been tricked!”
By then, it was too late to withdraw his dagger to defend, and in the blink of an eye, Roger powered up his legs, emitting a low growl from his throat.
“Explode!”
All the strength in his body converged, muscles trembling, bursting forth from his legs.
The force that Roger unleashed at that mont was beyond imagination. Bob, taken by surprise, had his attack intercepted before it could strike, as Roger collided with him chest to chest.
“Your power?”
“How is this possible!!”
Before he could touch the ground, Roger’s body bounced up quickly, and the dagger he pulled out in retreat pierced out like a violent storm.
From chest to neck, several trails of blood spattered; Bob couldn’t keep up with Roger’s speed, leaving him with nothing but futile resistance.
If this encounter with Bob had occurred before leaving Baytown, Roger would have needed a hard fight to beat him.
But now, with both sets of swordsmanship reaching level 3, Roger had widened the gap far beyond that of an ordinary person in terms of combat strength.
At that mont, Bob was nothing more than a target with brute strength in Roger’s eyes!
The dagger danced in the air, blood blossoms splattered, and Roger’s figure leapt high, nimbly jumping onto Bob’s back.
“This blade, is payback for Simpson!”
Roger roared as the dagger in his hand entered Bob’s left brain and exited through the right!
Shzz!
Blood shot out.
Roger shook the blood off the dagger and leaped down.
“I should thank you for your cowardice. If you had been braver back then, you might have kept us all there!”
Bob desperately tried to cover the large hole in his head, but blood and brain matter still oozed through his fingers.
A glimr flashed in his consciousness, and Roger knew that the mission concerning the beast attack must have been thoroughly completed.
With a glint of despair in his eyes, Bob stared intently at a spot behind Roger. Roger, startled, slowly turned around.
In the light of the waning moon, a slender figure squatted on a branch.
Despite the backlight making it difficult to see the figure’s face, the familiar oppressive aura allowed Roger to recognize the person’s identity.
He stepped back slightly, adjusting his direction.
“Huff…”
“You’ve finally arrived, Ivy.”
Swish!
The slender figure dropped from the tree.
In the moonlight, her blue skin seed almost sacred.
“Seeing this kid dead makes relieved.”
Roger was slightly taken aback.
“Relieved about what?”
Ivy’s scales trembled softly.
“That you were able to kill him shows that the hunter who has been following you around…”
“He’s not here!”
No sooner had she spoken than Roger realized he had lost sight of the figure from his vision!
