Chapter 55: Return: Chapter 055 Returning to the Cabin

“The case was cracked so quickly? It’s only been one day!”

People in the town were abuzz with discussion.

“This at least shows that our taxes are being put to the right use, the cops at the station are not too bad.”

Hearing the talk around him, Roger felt sowhat bewildered, he and Henrik had exchanged blows with the murderer, and even with Henrik’s fighting ability, they had not been able to detain the suspect. Ordinary police officers?

Could it be that Adeline’s imdiate superior couldn’t withstand the pressure and just found soone to take the bla?

This kind of situation was indeed not impossible, after all, Sherman’s identity was special, and the factory he managed was the backbone industry of the town. In order to calm the unrest and temporarily stabilize the residents’ emotions, it was an expected move.

...

“This matter doesn’t really have much to do with those guys at the police station.”

Soone said.

“I heard that it was Sherman’s son, Bob, who provided the clue to the police.”

“Sherman always lived in the town and seldom went out. Recently, the strangers he t were few and far between, but according to Bob, his father had t a strange woman 10 days ago.”

“It was an outsider, supposed to be nad…”

“Ivy.”

“They say this woman was Kant’s forr girlfriend. She ca here to investigate the matter with Kant.”

“The police went to Ivy’s temporary residence in the town last night. There is a rumor that they have captured her, and now she’s being interrogated in secret.”

“That’s great!”

People in the restaurant clapped and celebrated.

“Sherman was a good guy. He wasn’t stingy like other capitalists and was considerate to his workers. The factory has been shut down these few days since his trouble.”

Soone sighed.

“Our life from now on, who knows what it will be like?”

With these words, the previously high spirits suddenly beca depressed; gossip over tea and als was not as important as one’s own life.

“Roger…”

Amanda’s voice ca to his ears, “Do you really think the murderer has been caught?”

The red-haired girl’s gaze fell on Roger’s face.

Roger lowered his head and took a sip of coffee, “Why do you ask? They’ve caught the person, the case should be closed soon.”

“Don’t you believe your own mother?”

He countered with a question.

“That’s not what I an…”

“It’s just that lately, the town doesn’t feel safe at all; it even feels sowhat strange to .”

Amanda’s mood was a bit down.

“Don’t think too much about it, everything is in the past now.”

Roger reassured her.

As he stood up to pay and was leaving through the door, the red-haired girl suddenly said sothing from behind him, “How co I feel like you don’t quite agree, when people ntioned the murderer being caught earlier, you seed…”

“Sowhat incredulous.”

“Heh,” Roger chuckled dryly.

Girl, with your keen observations, you’re wasting your talent by not becoming a cop.

“Catching the murderer in just one day, being a bit surprised should be normal, right?”

Roger explained.

“No, it always feels like you’re hiding sothing from .”

“Co clean, do you know sothing?”

After a long journey of bickering and finally dispelling Amanda’s doubts, they arrived at school, where Bob still hadn’t shown up, but the school was still abuzz with talk about his disappearance.

Considering Ivy might have been the monster that night, Roger was worried about Adeline. He tried calling her several tis, but it kept showing that there was no answer.

During the break, Henrik texted Roger to let him know he had to leave Baytown early and they agreed to et at Swamp Town during the weekend holiday.

With Ivy captured and Henrik not in town, Roger finally had no worries and could go to Hunter’s Cabin that night to check it out.

After the incident at Sherman Manor, Roger was eager to improve his strength and, at the very least, wanted to advance his Universal Sword Techniques to level 2 to take his physical abilities to the next level.

Besides, he also needed to find a reason so Adeline would agree to let him go to Swamp Town over the weekend.

That weekend just so happened to coincide with the town’s traditional festival, the Murloc Festival, a unique local culture said to have been passed down for nearly a hundred years.

Initially, it was a ceremony by seaside fishern to worship and pray for safety, but as ti developed, it turned into a major celebration and tourism event.

The town governnt and local wealthy businessn sponsored the event, bringing in teams from outside the area to perform repeatedly.

With the weekend and the celebration combined, all the schools in town gave teachers and students a long vacation.

In Baytown, this was a festival even grander than Christmas, with tours and activities lasting almost ten days. However, it seed only the first few days attracted the most participants and had the most spectacular performances.

If nothing unexpected happened, after completing the mission with Henrik and during the holiday, Roger planned to stay holed up in his cabin. He wasn’t even planning to leave there until his abilities had reached their peak.

The dayti went by quickly as Roger was still catching up on all his courses at full throttle.

Especially the several courses related to chemical experints, the standard operations and procedures improved Roger a lot.

In the evening, Adeline returned his call, telling him that she and Greg had a mission that night, so they should go to Little Jack’s aunt’s house for dinner.

There was a commotion on the other end of the phone, with the sound of walkie-talkies going non-stop; it seed they had already left.

Adeline had been worried that Amanda would take this opportunity to sneak out, so she specially instructed Roger to keep an eye on the red-headed girl.

But after Simpson’s incident, Amanda’s personality had changed a lot. As it was late when they returned from Jack’s aunt’s house, they each went to their own hos.

As usual, Roger practiced ditation, and after using the Spirit Communication Water for several days, he felt so internal changes, as if even his vision had beco sharper, allowing him to see clearly in dim environnts.

Night fell, and after confirming Amanda and Jack were both asleep, Roger locked his room from the inside and silently climbed out of the window.

It didn’t take long for him to arrive in front of his own cabin.

“You haven’t been here recently.”

A cold voice ca through, and Anna’s figure erged from the mist. Whether it was an illusion or not, Roger always had the feeling that Anna’s body seed to have beco more solid.

“I’ve been caught up with a lot of things recently,” he said.

“Can you co and chat with when you’re free?”

“I can’t leave this place, and it’s too boring alone.”

“I’ll try,” Roger replied cautiously, not daring to promise easily.

He had previously looked up the history of Baytown in the school library but, strangely, Roger couldn’t find any information related to Anna’s family in the docunts.

This made him sowhat vigilant.

Moreover, the surrounding area was all barren hills, which even long ago didn’t seem like a suitable living environnt.

He checked the place where the body had been buried again; everything was normal, and the body hadn’t been dug up by wild animals.

After chatting idly with Anna for a few minutes, Roger entered the cabin, closed the door, drank the Pain Potion, and started his harsh training regin.
