Chapter 428: Chapter 428: What do you have? Chapter 428: Chapter 428: What do you have? Not long after getting into the car and leaving the estate, Roger sensed a thick malice in Green’s invitation.
Bedivere had long been seen as a staunch neutral, an image that was deeply ingrained in people’s hearts. Many had attempted to get close and befriend him over the years, but ultimately they all failed.
Recently, due to a mission, Roger and the Gareth brothers had established a good cooperative relationship.
But that was all there was to it, yet this ti, Green’s personal invitation put Roger directly in the spotlight.
Gaharad’s arrival was not concealed, and the whole process must have been seen by the alert Round Table Knights; even if Green said nothing, everyone would surely harbor doubts.
The position of the group leader involved more than just rights and power.
More importantly, it was about freedom.
That alone was reason enough for any action.
Indeed, not long after Roger returned to the hotel, the Gareth brothers found an excuse to co knocking on his door.
Without exchanging many words, the two brothers started probing Roger.
Roger didn’t hide anything and directly told them he was called to the estate by Green.
“Mr. Green hardly ever shows himself, let alone inviting soone over for a one-on-one talk,” said Gareth, feigning a casual deanor.
“That is quite similar to you, Bedivere…”
“Actually, it’s no big deal.”
Roger smiled and a thought flashed through his mind. He spoke up openly:
“Mr. Green called over to ask if I was interested in becoming the new group leader?”
As soon as he finished speaking, the brothers’ faces changed, but then Roger said sothing that shocked them even more.
“Don’t disbelieve . For years, I have been the knight who has undergone the fewest Inheritance Ceremonies. Everyone must understand the pain of the process, and in fact, with each Inheritance Ceremony, the soul incurs corresponding damage.”
“And the more damage you sustain, the less likely you are to reach the Fourth Tier after the shackles are lifted.”
“So you don’t stand a chance.”
Roger nearly repeated verbatim what Green had said, only he concealed the key factor that the Privy Council could help the new group leader nd the soul damage.
The Gareth brothers frowned and recalled how many tis they had undergone the Inheritance Ceremonies.
The more they thought about it, the uglier their expressions beca.
“I have lived a secluded life all these years. Honestly, I have no interest in being a leader and directing others.”
“Because we got along quite well during the last mission, I shared this important information with you.”
“If you start looking for ways to heal the soul damage now, there should still be a chance.”
“Just keep this between the two of you, don’t tell anyone else.”
Roger put on a considerate front.
“Thank you, Bedivere.”
“If it weren’t for you divulging such crucial secret to us, we might never have had the chance.”
“You’ve done so much for us, I really don’t know how to repay you.”
Gareth’s face showed a hint of sha, thinking about his actions just now, he felt a wave of embarrassnt.
“Why wouldn’t there be a chance?” Roger spoke up, seeing the puzzled look on Gareth’s face.
“I have no interest in becoming the new group leader, but as you know, I had so conflicts in my mories during the previous Inheritance Ceremonies.”
“I could have used the Hart Spirit’s Horn to solve the problem, but unfortunately…”
Roger sighed.
“So now I need to try so other thods, which will require many valuable materials.”
“I wonder if you could help …” Roger put on an embarrassed look.
Gareth’s eye twitched as he exchanged a glance with Gaheris, and for so reason, they both felt the developnt of events was turning sowhat eerie.
“What material do you need?”
Roger’s eyes lit up.
“What do you have?”
30 minutes later, the Gareth brothers left Roger’s room with heavy steps.
“Do you think Bedivere really needs all these materials?” Gareth said with a pained expression.
“Stop worrying about what materials you do and don’t have.”
Gaheris frowned, “The importance of this information surpasses all the materials.”
“All these years of endless tasks, being trapped in our own station and scarcely leaving the European continent—do you want to continue living like this?”
“Of course not!” Gareth responded.
“Go talk to Gawain. We’ve conducted too many Inheritance Ceremonies, even if we were to start plugging the holes now, it would be too late.”
“Among all of us, the ones who have participated the least in the inheritances are Lancelot, Gawain, and Bedivere.”
“If Gawain becos the leader, even if we can’t have complete freedom, being able to move around freely within certain restrictions shouldn’t be a problem.”
“We must not let Lancelot know about this ssage!”
The two exchanged a look and left the hotel.
In the room, Roger also revealed a satisfied smile.
The real Bedivere had been killed by him long ago; he wasn’t a so-called Round Table Knight, had no restrictions on his soul, and had no interest in the so-called position of leader.
The fundantal task was to increase his strength as quickly as possible.
After killing Bedivere, Roger didn’t gain much material benefit from him, especially in terms of precious Casting Materials.
However, to his surprise, the Gareth brothers turned out to be quite wealthy; he wouldn’t have to worry about ordinary High Tier materials for a short while.
“Should I go knock on Lancelot’s door for another deal?”
Touching his chin, Roger thought carefully and finally gave up the idea.
The Casting Materials gleaned from the Gareth brothers were only one aspect; more importantly, Roger’s honesty had pulled them back to his side.
Although he did not know what Green’s invitation to talk in the manor entailed, throughout the process, Roger didn’t feel any so-called assistance or sincerity, and he sniffed a hint of conspiracy.
In such circumstances, having several allies by his side was always better than being a target for all.
Most importantly, Roger had no interest whatsoever in the benefits offered by Green.
Although he didn’t sense any feeling of being watched, out of caution, Roger chose not to stay there any longer.
He was playing Bedivere, not Roger.
Both emotionally and logically, he should not initiate contact with Amanda.
After a mont of thought, he took a car directly to the airport and then returned to Eld early.
As for what the other Round Table Knights might do, Roger didn’t care at all.
Back at the manor, he didn’t even see Henrik’s shadow. Entering the Shadow Cottage, with a thought, Roger’s body disappeared on the spot.
When he reappeared, he had crossed the channel and arrived at the other end in Mist City.
“It actually worked!”
Roger was in a house that was for sale.
On the way to the airport, he passed a residential area and picked one of the houses for sale, then activated the function of Temporary Migration.
This type of reverse Penetration was Roger’s first attempt, and it perfectly helped him avoid the prying eyes of anyone interested.
He changed his clothes, took out an odd mask and put it on his face, then jumped out of the window, blending into the tropolis.
A single day apart feels like an eternity.
