Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Foreign Spirit Assembly Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Foreign Spirit Assembly “Why ?”

Although Dickinson’s reason seed very plausible, Roger found it hard to believe.

This guy had been alive in the Bordeaux region for who knows how many years, with his body changed several tis. Roger didn’t believe there were no issues the first two tis, only on the third.

It seed a bit too coincidental.

“It is a asure of last resort.”

“I once knew a person from another world just like us. The first two tis, it was with his help that I completed the body swap.”

Dickinson shrugged.

“Unfortunately, an accident occurred during the last body switch, and he died.”

“If I hadn’t t you, then I would have had to seek the help of others. Of course, there is another reason why I chose you.”

Dickinson leaned forward slightly, and a subtle oppressive force suddenly enveloped the space.

“That is because you are currently quite weak, comparatively speaking, easier to control.”

“Heh.”

Roger chuckled coldly.

“Thank you for your candor.”

Dickinson seed not to notice that he had just threatened the young man before him.

“In the Transcendent World, it’s survival of the fittest. I look forward to the day you can say to the very words you just did.”

“Rest assured, when that ti cos, I will offer my praise without hesitation.”

“In the world where you were born, perhaps you were already as powerful as a deity, but unfortunately, here everything has to start over.”

“A strong soul and past mories and experiences, can help accelerate this process, but we still need to accumulate.”

Roger’s gaze flickered for a mont.

“What if I refuse?”

Dickinson shook his head.

“I believe you won’t refuse because that would be an utterly foolish choice.”

“We are bound not to be enemies due to our similar origins, with no conflicting interests, plus a sense of identity, just take the ti to understand.”

“Even if we can’t beco the best of friends, we could definitely beco allies. Put yourself in my shoes, next ti you have to switch bodies, surely you would hope for my help.”

“Wouldn’t you?”

Roger sat quietly but did not answer Dickinson’s question.

He had to admit Dickinson was speaking the truth.

Working together seed to have more pros than cons at the mont, with Dickinson’s knowledge of this world far exceeding Roger’s.

And after a period of accumulation, his power would surely be far greater than Roger’s. Till Dickinson completely switched bodies, the two were in what could be considered a honeymoon phase.

This was like Roger getting the support of a strong external force for nothing.

And just as Dickinson had said, this aid was reciprocal; Dickinson might seem powerful now, with Roger in a weaker position.

But once Dickinson finished switching bodies, the situation would reverse, with Roger becoming the stronger party.

He needed to provide a certain level of protection for Dickinson before he grew stronger and seek his help again the next ti he needed to switch bodies.

In this cycle, just as Dickinson had said, even if they couldn’t be close friends, their entwined interests could make their relationship as close as kin.

It was a decision that was good for both if united and harmful if divided; thus, Dickinson wasn’t worried that Roger would refuse him.

However, Roger was still contemplating.

Although he felt that most of what Dickinson had said was probably true, there were certainly things he was hiding on so key issues.

Furthermore… his current body seed different from others.

The Hunter’s Cabin bound to his soul, and a body from the Cursed Land.

An idea suddenly struck Roger; in regards to his current body, could the real world be akin to a super-sized Cursed Land?

If this theory held, then he should be very safe for a very, very long ti.

Roger didn’t respond for a long ti, but Dickinson across from him was no longer as composed as he had appeared before.

His scratching at his neck beca more frequent, and the smile on his face began to recede.

“What are you still hesitating about?”

Dickinson’s hands were braced against the edges of the table, as if he might pounce at any mont.

“Although this body’s talents are painfully inferior, the strength accumulated over so many years far exceeds your imagination.”

He stared intently at Roger, a hint of ferocity now glinting in his eyes, “If I wished, I could easily snap your neck!”

“If I really wanted to harm you, I wouldn’t need any plan at all!”

“What did you an by ‘we’ that you just ntioned?” Roger asked calmly and unhurriedly.

Dickinson took a deep breath, and the agitation on his face lessened sowhat.

“As I ntioned before, there are many people like us in this world. To this world, we are heretics, those who can only hide in the shadows.”

“Over the years, I have also co to know a number of our kind. At first, there were only a few of us, but eventually, the organization gradually grew larger. We are distributed across different regions, maintaining contact through special rituals.”

“Foreign Spirit Assembly.”

“It’s a regional exchange organization without any hierarchical structures, as there are no conflicts of interest among us. We use this organization to exchange key information and special materials.”

“Special materials?”

A thought crossed Roger’s mind.

Dickinson nodded.

“Many Alchemy Materials are nad and used differently in different worlds. Everyone here cos from various worlds and has their expertise.”

“Such exchanges are very beneficial to us.”

“Whether you agree or not, I can introduce you to the others after so ti.”

“In this world, if we cannot help each other out, then we are truly isolated and without support.”

“So…”

Dickinson looked at Roger.

“What’s your decision?”

“I can agree to give it a try, but I have one last question.”

“How did you discover the soul anomaly?”

“So that’s your question.”

Hearing Roger’s response, Dickinson revealed a smile.

“It’s a bit of a personal talent. Rember the first ti we t?”

“I sensed sothing unusual back then, and by the second eting, I was sure of it.”

“In fact, you don’t have to worry, normal people can’t discern our anomalies, only our own kind can.”

“But you’d better be careful as well. Once you join the Foreign Spirit Assembly, you can learn thods to conceal your soul anomaly through exchanges with other mbers.”

“Of course…”

Dickinson pointed at himself.

“You can also choose to obtain it from .”

“What do I need to give in return?” Roger countered.

“Nothing at all, I just need your wholehearted assistance with my next transition.”

“That’s all.”

“Trust , what you will receive will far exceed what you give.”

“Alright.”

Roger nodded.

“Pleasure doing business!”
