Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Demon Hunting Squad Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Demon Hunting Squad “After the first incident happened, I just took it as so drunk workers spouting nonsense, and no one else took it seriously either.”

Wolff continued.

“Days passed, and even though the first eyewitness kept spreading what he saw and heard around the factory, most people didn’t believe it.”

“Where is that eyewitness now?”

Tangde suddenly asked.

“I’ve already fired him.”

“Under those circumstances, any reasonable person would have seen his actions as deliberate provocation.”

Wolff spread his hands.

“Honestly, there are bound to be issues with my factory being built here, like so processes not up to standard…”

Wolff spoke frankly.

“But which factory in the world isn’t like that? Besides, the pay I give them is generous enough that when soone started talking about such things in the factory…”

Wolff looked innocent.

“So I fired that guy.”

“But not long after I fired him, probably just two or three days, others witnessed that so-called monster.”

“And this ti, there weren’t just one witness but a full six!”

“Didn’t anyone lose their life because of it?” Tangde was sowhat puzzled.

Wolff shook his head.

“According to them, the monster didn’t attack; they just saw it from a distance.”

“After that, everyone went crazy and started brawling among themselves. Soone got an ear torn off, another had his leg broken by a wrench in a companion’s hand.”

“All were injured to varying degrees, but thankfully, nobody died because of it.”

“The police investigated but treated it as just an ordinary fistfight.”

“Naturally, no one believed in the so-called monster.”

“Several of these people had a history of alcohol abuse.”

Wolff sighed.

“In this way, the whole thing blew over.”

“The police might not have taken it seriously, but the workers here felt differently. Coupled with previous rumors and the accounts of the six workers, the rumors of a monster in the factory spread like wildfire.”

Wolff clenched his fist.

“The factory even shut down for two days because of it—God, that was a significant amount of money lost!”

“I had no choice but to use so connections in the union and also increase the wages to barely bring so workers back.”

“After that, the third incident happened.”

“But I quietly dealt with it, and the other workers are none the wiser.”

Tangde nodded, getting a grasp of the situation.

“May I take a tour of the factory, or talk to so people to understand the specifics?”

“No, you can’t!”

Wolff quickly waved his hands.

“These workers are already superstitious, and I’ve barely muddled through. Once you start questioning and investigating, they’ll realize the previous rumors were true.”

“Confirming that there’s a monster in the factory would an that no matter how much I pay, nobody would work here!”

Tangde thought about it and understood Wolff’s concerns.

In fact, the chubby man in front of him didn’t care at all about the workers’ lives or deaths; his concern was his own business and orders.

In a factory like this, each day of halted production ant a significant financial loss, not to ntion the delayed orders.

If the rumors were confird and all the workers left, Wolff could indeed be driven to bankruptcy.

“Without investigation, how do you expect us to proceed with the operation?”

Tangde also faced difficulties.

“How about this, give the addresses of those eyewitnesses, all of them, including the third incident.”

“We’ll visit them separately.”

Wolff’s face still held a lot of hesitation.

“Don’t worry, we have our own thods and won’t expose you. Plus, if I’m not mistaken, the intervals between the three sightings must be getting shorter.”

“Although it’s unclear why the monster hasn’t attacked the people here, that doesn’t an it will always be the case.”

“Maybe it has its own agenda.”

“Perhaps the attack will happen next ti!”

Tangde said coldly.

Fear crawled onto Wolff’s face; if soone died here, the news could no longer be covered up.

“Alright.”

He nodded, “But you have to guarantee that I won’t get dragged into this.”

“Mr. Wolff, you really are a cautious man!”

The young man standing behind Tangde mocked.

Tangde didn’t stop his team mber’s complaint, clearly, he was also sowhat dissatisfied with their employer’s actions.

Although this man hadn’t killed anyone, his actions…

But if you consider his own position, being forced to stop working and go bankrupt was no different from being killed.

Wolff smiled as if he hadn’t understood the irony in the young man’s words.

“Caution is a quality essential to a businessman.”

By this ti, they had arrived at Wolff’s office, which was separate from the factory area, so there was no worry about being seen by too many workers.

Wolff pulled out so docunts and handed them to Tangde. Tangde didn’t leave imdiately; instead, he found an empty office nearby and entered with his team mbers.

Closing the door, the noise from outside was blocked.

“No listening devices.”

Upon hearing that, Tangde nodded.

“Let’s discuss.”

“Although this monster hasn’t attacked the workers directly, it’s unlikely to be a ghost causing trouble.”

Tangde offered his opinion first.

Just by looking at his build, it was hard to imagine Tangde was an exorcist.

Even though they didn’t tour the entire factory after coming in, Tangde still carefully sensed around and, for now, he hadn’t detected any traces of spiritual body activity.

“That Wolff is probably hiding sothing, but for the most part, what he said should be true.”

The young man who had mocked Wolff earlier spoke, sporting golden short hair and a gold earring on his left ear.

“Lawrence, later, you and Michelle go and check on the eyewitnesses of the three incidents, to see if they know sothing else.”

“Be careful, don’t use overly aggressive thods; they’re just so unlucky ordinary people.”

“Don’t worry.”

A girl with brown skin and a black ponytail spoke, “I’ll keep an eye on Lawrence and make sure he doesn’t do anything rash.”

“If it’s not a ghost, then this monster might possess the ability to affect the minds of ordinary people.”

“Based on the information we have so far, it’s very likely the smoke around it.”

Soone spoke up.

“We still can’t confirm the authenticity of this information.”

Another person said.

Tangde frowned.

“Go and get a set of work clothes from Wolff to disguise ourselves, then check out the site of the incident.”

Tangde pointed at the other two people in the room, “Keep a low profile, I don’t want to drive Wolff into bankruptcy and end up completing the mission without pay.”

“Haha.”

Everybody laughed. After a brief exchange, they set off on their individual tasks.

Tangde didn’t leave; he needed to organize the information in his hands to prepare for the next steps.

anwhile, Roger had also driven to Rivervalley Town.
