Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Confess? Conceal? (Sixth Update)

By the ti the group erged from the swamp, the evening had already arrived.

The body was still lying on the ground, surrounded by a large group of police, the entire force of Swamp Town had been alerted by the incident.

Upon seeing the people coming out of the woods, all the officers drew their guns simultaneously.

Henrik raised his hands, stepped forward, and negotiated with the Swamp Town officers, whatever he said, the officers didn’t give them a hard ti.

Henrik and Peter had to stay to deal with the aftermath, naturally, they couldn’t return with Roger.

After the separation, Roger drove Amanda towards Baytown.

“About today’s events…”

Both started to speak at the sa ti.

“Thank you for everything you’ve done for .”

Then Amanda seed to rember sothing.

“Of course, that includes that thing too.”

“That thing? Which thing?”

Roger was montarily startled, but then he saw the girl’s slightly reddened cheek and instantly understood sothing.

“Ha-ha, it’s nothing.”

Roger subconsciously said, “That’s what I ought to do.”

“Uh…”

He imdiately realized the ambiguity in his words and helped himself by shutting his mouth.

The atmosphere in the car suddenly beca sowhat ambiguous.

Amanda leaned back in her seat and changed the subject, “So… is this your little secret all along?”

She glanced at Roger, “Were you laughing inside while watching our little farce in the cave?”

Roger thought about it and decided to recount the events to Amanda, now that she was partly into the Transcendent World, there was no need to keep secrets from her anymore.

After hearing Roger’s account, Amanda looked shocked, “Bob, Sherman…”

“Is the world we live in really that complicated?”

Right then, Roger’s phone rang.

Adeline.

Roger felt a headache coming; Adeline must have found out Amanda hadn’t gone to school and that’s why she called.

He unlocked his phone, only then noticing a string of missed calls.

He looked at Amanda.

“What should we say?”

As night fell, Roger slowly parked the car in the open space in front of Adeline’s house.

Before he could open the car door, Adeline, her face streaked with tears, rushed up to them.

She hugged Amanda tightly, carefully inspecting her daughter, “Where are you hurt?”

As she spoke, tears stread down unrestrained.

It took a while for her emotions to steady.

Seeing Roger stepping out of the car, Adeline also gave him a hug.

“Thank you, child!”

“Losing Amanda, I really didn’t know how I would face life.”

“This is the second ti you’ve saved Amanda, and with her, you saved this family.”

“Actually, I didn’t do much.”

Roger consoled Adeline.

“I just noticed so anomalies, followed them, and then notified the police.”

“That’s remarkable in itself!”

Adeline said.

Betty and others took Amanda away but left a ss of books behind. Lately, Adeline had so spare ti, as Amanda would co ho for lunch.

After waiting for a long ti and not seeing her daughter, Adeline frantically made calls to inquire, but no one knew where Amanda had gone.

At that point, she completely panicked. She followed the route Amanda usually took ho and eventually found the scattered books on the ground.

Realizing that sothing was wrong, Adeline started to widen her search until a student told her that they saw Amanda get into a white pickup truck.

Roger had already communicated with Henrik. With such a significant incident happening in Swamp Town and many deaths, it surely couldn’t just be brushed off.

Thus, they decided to declare the Prophet and others as a cult, and that Betty was under their spell when she abducted Amanda.

As for the truth.

Amanda hadn’t initially intended to keep secrets from her mother.

But Henrik told her that the things she was exhibiting couldn’t simply be explained away as a matter of ordinary rituals.

Because of these characteristics, even if unwilling, you would definitely enter the Transcendent World.

“Do you want to tell your relatives, to have them live forever in fear and trepidation?”

Amanda fell silent.

Though she hesitated, feeling that she should be honest with her mother, she also agreed with Henrik’s point of view.

Henrik told Amanda that he had been a Demon Hunter for a long ti and had seen too many similar cases.

To confess or to conceal.

This was a dilemma for everyone involved.

“There’s no perfect answer. You can keep it hidden for now and make a decision when you’ve thought it through,”

Roger finally said.

Amanda thought it over and agreed with Roger’s opinion.

So, the preceding scene ca to be.

After continuous running around, both of them were quite worn out, and Adeline had spent the entire day in fear and worry.

After hastily eating sothing, everyone went upstairs to rest. Roger hid his injuries well, not letting Adeline notice them.

After fighting all day long, Roger naturally didn’t plan to continue training that night. But just as he was about to go to sleep, a soft knocking ca from outside the door.

The red-haired girl stood at the doorway, looking lovely, “I’m a little… scared.”

“Can you stay with ?”

After this incident, the relationship between the two had invisibly drawn much closer. Roger didn’t refuse and let the girl enter his room.

Amanda seed exhilarated and talked non-stop, starting with stories from her childhood, moving on to her family.

She spoke of the conflicts between her parents, her father who was obsessed with mysterious things.

And… of every little detail since she had t Betty.

Roger didn’t interrupt, just quietly listened.

Gradually, Amanda’s eyelids grew heavier, and she finally fell into a deep sleep.

Looking at the girl’s fair face, Roger propped a pillow under her head and then quietly left the room.

There would be ti.

Roger went to the living room downstairs and fell asleep on the sofa.

The next day, Amanda woke up earlier than usual, only to realize that this wasn’t her own room.

“This guy…”

Just when she was about to explain sothing while opening the door, she saw Adeline, who had just gotten up and was making a silencing gesture to her.

Following the direction Adeline was pointing, she saw Roger sleeping soundly on the living room sofa.

“I’ve asked for leave for you. There are only a few days left until the sumr holiday. Take the ti to relax. It’s a good ti for both of you to go out together,”

Adeline’s intention was clearly expressed.

She was a police officer and knew that such events could leave indelible psychological trauma on the persons involved. As a mother, what she could do was to help her child forget this unpleasant experience as soon as possible.

If it had been any other ti, not having to go to school might have delighted Amanda, but after what had happened yesterday, her mood was sowhat heavy.

The world, in her eyes, had forever changed.
