Chapter 117: Chapter 117: The Special Soul (4th Update)

Roger had just started to explain when suddenly, he felt a tight embrace—the red-haired girl had thrown herself into his arms.

“Thank you, Roger!”

Ever since the ritual began, Amanda had regained the sensation in her body, and it had even beco more sensitive than before. She could hear every sound around her clearly.

And she understood what had happened—she knew that without Roger, she would probably have turned into a lifeless corpse by now.

“Should I just embrace this opportunity?”

As Roger hesitated, the girl suddenly broke free from his hold, stood up, and walked to the other side of the room.

There, Betty lay stiff on the ground, her eyes void of life.

“Betty…”

“Amanda…”

The two girls faced each other in silence.

Amanda didn’t erupt into hysterical crying or questioning; having been through so much, she understood sothing very clearly.

Often, one cannot choose sothing solely based on their preference.

“Kill ,” Betty suddenly said.

“The ritual has ended, and I can feel my vitality draining away. I will age rapidly and leave this world with an ugly appearance.”

“Maybe…”

But Betty shook her head.

“It’s all a conspiracy. There was no rise to power, no advent of the Saint Heir. It was all that woman’s cruel plan to achieve her own goals.”

“And we actually believed her, the entire tribe believed her!” Betty cried out in grief.

“Only now do I understand that everything my mother said was true!”

“Mother?”

Amanda looked surprised; she had just rembered how Betty used to address that woman.

“As a tradition, children chosen by the tribe always call the Prophet ‘mother’.”

“But my real mother…”

“Because she had once rebelled against the Prophet, that woman used an evil ritual to transfer her soul into an animal’s body.”

At this point, Amanda suddenly rembered sothing and shivered slightly.

“Was it… that doe?”

Betty nodded in pain.

Amanda clearly rembered the endless tears flowing from the doe’s eyes during the ritual.

She had thought it was the sorrow of an animal facing death, but now she realized it was probably a mother’s despair for her daughter’s future.

Perhaps beguiling hearts was also one of that woman’s abilities.

Just then, a loud crash ca from the door as Henrik and Peter finally cleared the obstacles and entered the room.

“It’s truly over.”

Henrik took a look at the ashes on the floor and let out a sigh of relief.

“Is that girl alright?”

Roger nodded, “She should be fine.” Still sowhat concerned, he briefly recounted what happened.

“Bloodline Awakening?”

“It seems similar but not quite the sa. Or is it because of the uniqueness of the ritual, that she absorbed another girl’s life essence, causing so unknown changes?”

Henrik glanced at Amanda, “I’m not an expert in this field, but to avoid any hidden dangers, I can ask soone on your behalf.”

“You should also keep a close eye on her changes.”

“Alright.”

Roger wasn’t well-versed in spells and mystical rituals, although Amanda had shown so special traits before, her outburst today was still astonishingly powerful and seed entirely beyond her control.

“You said earlier that this woman is not the Prophet of the gathering place; then who exactly is she?”

Roger pointed to the ashes on the ground and asked.

“That was many years ago, and I only learned about it when I was looking through internal docunts.”

“This woman’s na was Mansu, and she was from the sa era as the current Voodoo Queen.”

“In the eyes of true spellcasters, Voodoo Skill is not highly regarded. Part of it descends from ancient tribes, while another part is considered a branch of Black Witchcraft.”

“However, compared to true Black Witchcraft, their power and promotional channels are much inferior, so practitioners of Voodoo Skill are neither recognized by those who practice Black Witchcraft nor favored by mainstream spellcasters.”

“This naturally puts them in an awkward position.”

“But Mansu sohow obtained so true inheritances of Black Witchcraft and fused them with Voodoo Skill.”

“At that ti, she was very powerful, entering the Transcendent while still young. In the world of witches, those who entered the Transcendent were called the Waning Moon Witch.”

“Her progression was very fast. Just when the Voodoo Queen of her ti had barely entered the Transcendent, she was already preparing to beco a New Moon Witch.”

“Later, however, sothing happened. She secretly used evil witchcraft to kill many people. After the matter was exposed, she was hunted down.”

“At that ti, everyone thought she had died, but now it seems, the body she left at the scene was probably a trick.”

“Lizard shedding its tail.”

“Except, this woman shed her entire body.”

Henrik sighed.

“She’s a terrifying person, to be so difficult to deal with when only a head is left.”

“What about the other girl?”

Henrik suddenly asked.

“She’s here…”

Roger turned his head but stopped halfway through his sentence.

Betty was half-lying on the edge of a stone platform, holding a sharp fragnt in her hand.

Her throat was slit open, but eerily, not a single drop of blood flowed out.

This manner of death was very similar to that of the doe back then. Perhaps Betty, who had suddenly had a change of heart, was using this thod to atone for her sins.

Amanda carefully laid Betty’s body straight and slowly helped her put on the clothes scattered on the ground.

“Will she be forgiven by her mother?”

Roger fell silent for a mont, then nodded.

This was a girl who had been manipulated.

Mansu was detestable, but she was pitiable.

Henrik seed to understand what had happened; he did not co forward. “This is the best outco. Mansu’s ritual had almost no flaws, if not for coincidence…”

To be honest, Henrik was also very surprised that Roger had managed to save Amanda.

“Clean up, we need to get out of here.”

Henrik looked troubled.

“So many people dead, our troubles have just gotten a lot bigger.”

It was at this mont that Peter, cleaning up the battlefield outside, let out a light exclamation.

“What’s wrong?”

Roger walked over quickly.

During the recent battle, if it were not for Peter taking the initiative to help him contain the giant serpent, by the ti Roger arrived, Amanda might have already turned into a corpse.

Roger approached the corner near the door, where a dusty serpent head was lying on the ground.

There was a group of faint black mist on the serpent head.

“Interesting.”

“What is that?”

“A serpent’s soul.”

“Very rare.”

A thought struck Roger, “Is there a way to collect it? I should be able to make use of it.”

Peter simply pondered for a mont and then nodded, “Alright, I’ll give it a try.”
