"My Lord, I suspect it will not be long before Dartnerly discovers my allegiance to you," White Fox said, making her stance perfectly clear.

After their brief ti together, White Fox had chosen to place her trust in Nemus.

The Dartnerly family were nobles, and it was entirely normal for nobles to break their promises to people like her.

It was so normal, in fact, that if word got out, no one would think any less of the Dartnerly family; instead, they would only mock her for being naive.

Nemus, on the other hand, regardless of his ruthless nature, possessed one undeniable truth.

He treated her like a human being.

Having dealt with countless individuals in her life, White Fox could naturally recognize this sincerity.

She saw many contradictions in him.

He held no reverence for life, yet he completely disregarded social status, treating even soone of her lowly standing as a person of worth.

This contradictory attitude surprisingly gave him a certain captivating charm.

"Oh?" Nemus nodded. He was neither surprised by her statent nor suspicious of her loyalty.

Dartnerly had likely been using White Fox as a chess piece from the very beginning. Once he saw that the refinent of Cici Marie was nearing completion, he detonated the hidden traps within White Fox's faction.

In doing so, he successfully delivered Cici Marie right to Nemus.

This was also why White Fox had fled after the incident rather than seeking refuge with her supposed backers in the Dartnerly family. She knew full well that Dartnerly could not be trusted.

Therefore, she disguised herself as an old man begging on the streets, waiting for the heat to die down.

Her disguise was indeed excellent. Even the mbers of the Construct Protocol would have found it difficult to locate her in a short amount of ti.

However, Nemus currently held another divine artifact in his hands, one perfectly suited for gathering information.

Nemus closed the Book of Ages in his hand. The greatest strength of the Book of Ages lay in its ability to read the past.

By using his own information as an anchor, he traced the threads of the past to acquire the knowledge he sought.

After skipping over the information related to the Cherubim, Nemus started from the mont he seized Nels's identity and quickly tracked the events in Tail Fin Town.

Thus, pinpointing White Fox's information amidst the intersecting tilines was not particularly difficult.

Even Nemus had to rely on the Book of Ages to find White Fox. So how did Dartnerly manage to secure intelligence on her whereabouts?

"The Dartnerly family seems to possess a special sensing ability. When certain events occur, they receive a sensory feedback," White Fox explained.

"I witnessed it once before. Two gangs, backed by hidden powers, secretly ford an alliance to seize so of Dartnerly's businesses in the South District."

"Yet, on the very night they struck their deal, Dartnerly sent orders for and Black Viper to eradicate those two gangs."

"I investigated afterward and confird that no one from those gangs had leaked the information."

"A few similar incidents happened later on. It was as if whenever sothing detrintal to the Dartnerly family occurred, they would imdiately receive word of it."

"This thod of perception is more akin to a supernatural sensing."

"I believe my submission to you, Lord Nemus, has likely triggered this sensing."

"I see," Nemus nodded, feeling no surprise at this revelation.

The Book of Ages could investigate past information, and that was rely an ability derived from Fey bloodlines.

Although the Dartnerly family had declined to the point where they lacked even a single Gold Grade individual, they were ultimately a Saint Family. It was entirely reasonable for them to possess so special abilities.

"This world has never lacked various monsters and powerful individuals. All sorts of unbelievable forces have been mastered by people in the past."

"It is not strange at all." Nemus had witnessed even more absurd abilities in his ti. For instance, he had heard of a family whose mbers were born with the ability to randomly control a specific type of animal, taking it as their companion creature.

Then, when one particular fellow awakened his ability, his companion creature randomly turned out to be a Floating Whale.

He ascended to the heavens in a single bound, instantly becoming an entity that even Golden Rank beings had to curry favor with.

If such an outrageous ability existed, then a minor sensing ability was perfectly acceptable.

"If that is the case, then Dartnerly will likely make their next move very soon."

Nemus was actually quite looking forward to it.

After all, he anticipated needing to lay low and consolidate his strength for about half a year. If there was no conflict during that ti, wouldn't it be far too boring?

"Stick with Opper and his group for now, and do not go outside during this period," Nemus instructed, laying out a plan for White Fox. "After so ti passes, I will see if I can arrange for you to be placed in the Church prison. Cici Marie is currently held there."

Nemus stood up. White Fox imdiately rose to her feet and followed closely behind him, displaying her utmost reverence.

Nemus waved his hand dismissively, exiting the building through the front door and heading toward the Cathedral district.

Along the way, Nemus encountered nurous clerics and intern clerics.

The majority of them looked at him with admiration, and a few of the bolder ones even approached him to strike up a conversation.

Nemus would pause to converse with them warmly and precisely.

Throughout these interactions, Nemus accurately recalled their nas, understood their family situations, and even knew of their current predicants, offering them tailored encouragent and assistance.

His popularity within the Cathedral was exceptionally high. In just half a month, he had already convinced many to respect and accept him as a Great Knight.

'As expected, it still cos down to benefits,' Nemus thought, reaffirming his policy of binding people through mutual interests as he conversed with passersby.

After expanding his influence, Nemus imdiately ordered an adjustnt to the salaries of the Church personnel and even issued new subsidies. At the very least, this applied to the six Holy Knight squads under his command.

He funneled the vast majority of the profits gained from smuggling whale products straight back into the Church.

He also planned to extend these subsidy benefits to the Judgnt Squad and the Priests.

Unfortunately, the Judgnt Squad had refused, and the Priests were currently under the authority of Rhine.

Even so, as the actual benefits reached their pockets, the impression most Holy Knights had of Nemus rapidly improved.

Additionally, Nemus's decision to grant a new opportunity to Gabriel and his two companions earned him an excellent reputation among the intern clerics.

After all, in the past, if intern clerics failed their assessnts, that was the end of it. Regardless of whether it was due to unforeseen circumstances or other reasons, they would be forced to languish in obscurity for years.

For young intern clerics, how many years could they afford to waste?

Hand out generous benefits during ordinary tis, and pull strings to save people at critical monts.

By accomplishing these two points, Nemus could already easily run for the title of the most popular figure among the clerics in Tail Fin Town.

While Nemus was busy solidifying his power base.

Inside the manor castle of the Dartnerly family in the North District.

Dartnerly slowly opened his eyes, a look of absolute coldness filling his gaze.

Beside him, quite a few people had already been summoned to his presence.

"The Saint Road has already provided its feedback!" Dartnerly stared at the gathered mbers of his family, his eyes brimming with murderous intent.

"Nels has rejected the family."
