Tang Xiaowan sat upright in her office chair, her mind filled with excitent and emotion, yet she knew the importance of the senior managent eting. So, she opened her laptop and went through all the staff files again.
Those were all sent by Wu Qiming.
As ti passed, Tang Xiaowan gradually got into work mode.
She pondered how she could offer new ideas and suggestions for the developnt of the hotel. At the sa ti, she prepared how to promote team collaboration and communication to gain support in the shortest ti.
Unwittingly, the ti for the eting was almost upon her.
Tang Xiaowan slowly stood up, reorganized her thoughts, tidied her work attire, and walked confidently to the next room.
...
The atmosphere in the small eting room was extrely tense.
Everyone had their concerns, so worried about layoffs, others about demotions, while so just watched the drama unfold with glee.
Tang Xiaowan sat in the main seat with a smile and looked at each departnt manager in turn.
"Ladies and gentlen, today I’ve called you all here to announce sothing. The new general manager of Chi Sea has been decided and it’s effective imdiately."
The managers looked at Tang Xiaowan in surprise, montarily at a loss for words.
The position of general manager was significant, second only to the chairman, who had made the decision alone within a day.
It was indeed abrupt, especially for the human resources manager who had not received any news about this, but he had to pretend, as his livelihood was of utmost importance.
So, he was the first to applaud in support.
"Then may I ask... Chairman, who is the new general manager?" the food and beverage manager asked.
"I’ll make a declaration first. From now on, please address as ’Boss.’ I don’t like the title of ’Chairman.’ Since there’s no board of directors, there’s no chairman."
Everyone nodded, "Yes, Boss."
"Furthermore, Wu Qiming will take on the role of general manager, and who will take over his tasks will be announced after the eting," Tang Xiaowan added firmly.
That statent caused a stir, and everyone suddenly looked towards the person they least favored.
Wu Qiming? How could it be him?
Deputy General Manager Zhang Dong expressed his confusion and frowned, "Boss, actually, Manager Wu is more suited for managing the Housekeeping Departnt. Others... might be a bit too challenging for him. You might not know this, but Manager Wu has a paralyzed wife who needs his care, and their son is still in middle school, so... please reconsider, Boss."
He objected, but Tang Xiaowan wasn’t surprised at all, given that Wu Qiming had no powerful backers while he was a relative of the forr chairman.
Tang Xiaowan simply smiled and took a sip of tea.
"I know there will be so who question my decision. But I have witnessed Wu Qiming’s insight into custor needs and his passion for service. Over the years in the Housekeeping Departnt, he has accumulated a wealth of managent experience. I absolutely believe he has the capability to take on this responsibility. Now, let our new general manager Wu Qiming say a few words."
As soon as she finished, there was enthusiastic applause.
Yet, everyone clearly knew this applause was for the boss to see, not truly accepting Wu Qiming; they still had their doubts and thought he wasn’t qualified.
So, Wu Qiming stood up and respectfully faced Tang Xiaowan, "Thank you for your trust, Boss!"
Despite appearing calm, his heart was pounding like raging waves. He had thought he might be transferred to a more desirable departnt but had never imagined it would be the lofty position of general manager.
Then, he looked each person in the room in the eye, feeling their skepticism and resistance, but he knew this was his only chance to turn things around.
If he missed it, there would be no other!
"First, I sincerely thank everyone for your past support and cooperation in my work," Wu Qiming began, his voice firm and resonant, "Secondly, I understand that my appointnt might co as a surprise and... invite doubts. As a manager over forty in the housekeeping departnt, I admit there are shortcomings."
"But, one’s capability is not solely determined by his position or... youth? More importantly, it involves team coordination, employee care, and exploring potential custors. Regarding these aspects, I have continuously educated myself and believe I’ve perford quite well."
His tone was full of confidence and sincerity.
"Therefore, I believe that with our joint efforts, we can certainly build Chi Sea into an even more outstanding and excellent brand while creating a warm working environnt for everyone."
At the end, he paused, then continued, "My goal is to unlock each person’s potential, promote without hierarchy, and witness the hotel’s glory together with everyone. I promise to lead by example, to remain true to myself, and hope to earn your acknowledgnt."
He didn’t ntion his paralyzed wife; he didn’t see that as a problem.
If he could manage before, he could do it now.
Slowly, people began to feel Wu Qiming’s determination and openness, starting to think perhaps the boss’s decision wasn’t so inappropriate after all; indeed, it was a discerning choice.
After all, despite Deputy General Manager Zhang Dong’s suppressions over the years, Wu Qiming had always responded with a smile, fulfilling his duties without any complaints.
That alone was admirable.
Hence, thunderous applause suddenly broke out, and departnt managers sent affirmative glances his way.
Seizing the mont, Wu Qiming imdiately discussed two small plans and how to enhance the service to secure high-end custors long-term.
Tang Xiaowan expressed her support and trust.
She, with a sunny and confident deanor, rged into it, bringing a new vigor to the hotel.
But as everyone actively participated in the discussion, Deputy General Manager Zhang Dong silently slipped his hand into his pocket, a hint of glee flickering through his eyes.
