Chapter 834: Chapter 492: Mark City_2

Logan uncapped the flask, and a wisp of fragrance wafted out. While he was indulging in the aroma of the wine, he suddenly noticed sothing slightly amiss with its scent.

He took the wine jug in hand and brought it close to his nose to sniff carefully. The more Logan slled, the tighter his brows furrowed.

If it were anyone else, they might not have detected anything unusual, but before he left, Nineteen had left a wisp of azure smoke at the center of his brow—because of that smoke, he found the aroma from this jug of wine eerily familiar.

He had planned to set the wine aside and pay it no attention, but during his al, he realized that soone seed to be covertly observing his movents.

He didn’t know where that pair of eyes ca from, but it seed as if his refusal to drink had aroused suspicion.

Logan, in order not to startle the snake in the grass, continued to eat for a while longer, then opened the wine jug, poured a full cup, and brought it to his lips to drink.

Not until those hidden eyes saw Logan also drink from the jug did they disappear.

That feeling of being watched vanished, but the discomfort in Logan’s heart did not.

Since he was in the light and the enemy in the dark, he was inevitably in a passive situation. He did not want to be so passive, but to find the other party’s true body, he had to stir up a little noise.

As he drank, Logan shook his head with a sigh.

“I wonder who made this wine, why does it taste a little different from usual?”

He was alone, and the other patrons simply thought Logan was talking to himself.

While drinking, Logan continued to praise the wine, but his body’s Spiritual Power constantly expelled the effects of the wine from his system.

It wasn’t until Logan appeared to be completely drunk that the waiter approached again, smilingly asking with a chuckle,

“Excuse , sir, would you like anything else? A hero naturally needs the company of a beautiful woman. How about taking a look at the girls from the Hundred Flowers Pavilion?”

Logan nodded his head while seemingly drunk.

“Sure, bring a girl who understands wine, only one who can discern the unique flavor of your Hundred Flowers Pavilion’s wine is worthy to join , for such a girl deserves to be showered in riches.”

In every sentence, Logan praised the winemaker.

The waiter, puzzled, tilted his head.

“You are quite right, sir. We have a new Wine Lady who just arrived; her brewed wine is indeed top-notch. It’s hard to say where exactly it’s better, but it just feels more delicious than before.”

A dark glint flashed in Logan’s eyes.

He was almost certain that the new Wine Lady must be the person he was looking for, though whether she would agree to et him remained a question.

Feigning interest, Logan couldn’t help but ask,

“A woman who can brew wine, I haven’t t many. Would you ask that lady if she’s willing to et ? If she’s willing, I am prepared to give her Spirit Stones!”

Seeing Logan so insistent on eting the Wine Lady, the waiter had no choice but to nod and agree.

“Very well, I’ll go ask her on your behalf. Please wait here for a mont.”

Logan waited patiently, yet his mind started to consider alternative plans should the Wine Lady refuse to et him, then he would have to find another way.

However, before Logan could co up with another strategy, the waiter had already returned with a woman who was frail and heavily pregnant.

The woman wore an inconspicuous grey robe, just like the other waitstaff in the establishnt, but her beauty was stunning, captivating anyone with just a glance.

With a smile brimming with aning, she sat across from Logan, carrying two jugs of wine with her.

“I heard that this gentleman was quite interested in the wine I brewed, so the Wine Maiden decided to personally co and see you, to find out which discerning patron could imdiately notice how our wine differs from the wine of the past.”

She laughed with restraint, yet Logan could see through her ambition.

The person in front of him was certainly not ordinary by the look of his eyes alone, not only because her eyes were too coquettish, but also because her appearance was indeed rare in this world.

Even when people described her appearance, they might use the words “bewitchingly beautiful,” which conveys the notion of being part spirit.

“I’ve always loved drinking and have tried all sorts of wine. I used to frequent the Hundred Flowers Pavilion, but I haven’t been here for a while. Today, I finally found the ti to co, and to be able to drink such fine wine, how could I not be excited?”

Logan behaved as if he truly were a wine addict, not staring straight at the Wine Lady’s face, but at the fine wine in her hand.

The Wine Lady was pleased by Logan’s deanor, opened the jar she was holding, and poured wine for them both.

“It’s rare for a guest to like the wine I brew so much. Well, today I’ll join you for a drink.”

Logan was sowhat surprised since it appeared that the Wine Lady was pregnant—wouldn’t drinking harm the fetus in her belly?

However, upon further thought, he realized that her pregnant appearance might just be a façade to let others drop their guard, so he still couldn’t afford to be careless.

“Alright, since it’s your invitation, I won’t refuse!”

Logan laughed heartily and guzzled the wine in front of him.

After swallowing that drink, Logan realized that the wine he had been drinking before was nothing compared to what he just had.

For a mont, his head felt heavy and dizzy. He clasped his head, as his Spiritual Power circulated rapidly within him, trying to expel the drug from the wine out of his body, but he didn’t dare to do it too violently, for fear the Wine Lady might notice sothing amiss.

The Wine Lady had already anticipated Logan’s reaction, covered her mouth with her hand and chuckled twice before approaching him and whispering in his ear.

“It seems you’re drunk, sir. Shall I take you to the private box to rest?”

Logan just wanted to see what tricks the Wine Lady was planning, so he nodded his head and allowed her to support him up.

Once they reached the private box, the Wine Lady laid Logan on the bed. His eyes were half-closed, and he couldn’t see the scene in front of him clearly. But his spiritual consciousness covered the entire room, enabling him to observe every move of the Wine Lady without needing his eyes.

The Wine Lady just quietly admired Logan lying on the bed and was thinking about who knows what.

After a long while, instead of making a move to devour him, she dragged a stool over and sat down on her own, a wave of emotion welling up inside her.

“Why do all you n love wine so much?”

That nonsensical comnt threw Logan for a loop. He thought this spirit was getting ready to devour him, but now she was asking him why n liked to drink wine?

Logan kept his eyes tightly shut, as if he hadn’t heard her at all.

“All n in the world should be wiped out…”

She constantly murmured indiscernible phrases to herself; one mont about how n should die, the next, she was chanting the na of soone called Aldo Caldwell.

Eventually, the Wine Lady watched as the lights outside the window went out one by one. Her tears dried up, even turning to blood, and she stood up and walked over to Logan’s bed.

“All n deserve to die!”

The Wine Lady raised her right hand—her five claws had beco incredibly sharp.

With a swipe, the Wine Lady thought Logan was surely dood; however, her claw struck the bed instead.

The entire bed was smashed open; there was even a huge hole where Logan had been monts ago. Unquestionably, if Logan hadn’t moved just then, his heart might have been gouged out by now.

Logan quickly moved to the side, looking back at the bed with a shudder of fear. He had almost decided to gamble and see what would happen if he didn’t dodge. Thankfully, he had moved quickly enough.

The Wine Lady now had a pair of fox ears atop her head, fluffy and soft, and her eyes had turned into the aggressive, fox-like pupils that were deeply uncomfortable to look at.

Behind her, a single tail unfurled in the breeze, showing off its light blue and white colors.

If one were to consider it from the perspective of beauty, this fox spirit might have appeared quite lovely. Unfortunately, her current form was far from attractive, resembling a monster eager to devour a human.
