Moonlight Monologue,
During Luo Di's monologue holding the book, this reading was limited to his communication with the Moon, and thus the sound of reading would not spread externally, rely lingering around him.
It was as if a beam of moonlight shone solely on him, isolating him from all external interference, even the wail of bygone days could not penetrate it.
The face on his fingertip slowly died under the burning of the moonlight, with fair nails growing anew.
As long as Luo Di kept reading, he could move freely on the second floor.
In Morton's provided vision, a crying child squatted in the Corner. Luo Di slightly peeked with his own left eye, indeed seeing nothing.
Moreover, even Morton's vision was equally blurry, unable to see the child's face clearly, and the child's body appeared semi-transparent, as if it might completely vanish at any mont.
To kill or not to kill?
Luo Di already had an answer in his heart.
He did not release any Killing Intent, nor did he approach, simply turning around to enter the nearest room, starting to scavenge for supplies.
'Hey, aren't you gonna deal with that crying guy? If we join forces, I can use Pupil Skill to restrict him, and you could execute him swiftly. Maybe we could take him out.'
Faced with Morton's ssage, Luo Di responded with nothing, continuing his monologue, continuing to explore different rooms for supplies.
Just like that, the supplies on Luo Di increased more and more, even forcing him to create a tal backpack to store them.
As a result, even the child squatting in the Corner gradually lowered his volu, turning his head in so confusion.
His face was covered with fingers, each corresponding to a "little face," each of these little faces crying.
When these little faces saw Luo Di,
Seeing this young man holding a torch in one hand and a book in the other, completely ignoring them, their cries diminished, and the little faces gradually turned into expressions of confusion.
The child slowly stood up, yet didn't walk directly over.
Instead, he pressed his face against the wall.
The dense fingers on his face imdiately reacted with the dungeon wall, as if digging a hole, the child's entire head gradually sank into the wall, his body following right after.
The whole person seed like an earthworm, like a parasite of this second layer.
...
'Hey! Seems like the crying stopped…'
With Morton's prompt,
Luo Di, who was packing various dried mushrooms into his backpack, gradually stopped reading. As the book closed, the pitch-black room imdiately fell silent, indeed no wails from outside.
Morton continued his voice transmission: 'Seems like it gave up because it couldn't affect you. Say, why didn't you just do it? I could see him.'
'Too direct, I wasn't confident in killing in one strike. If I startle the snake, that child might completely hide, then I wouldn't even have a chance to kill.'
'I'd only act when I'm sure of a kill.'
'How do you know, that after he disappears now, he'll appear again? How do you know you'll get a chance to kill?'
'Think about it, if you're constantly trying to get soone's attention. But this person always ignores your existence, stealing things in your area, what would you think?'
Morton's pupils flickered, 'Hmm? You're not that dumb sotis, then why are you sotis so stupid you could die?'
Luo Di didn't respond, having read for so long, hunger gnawed at him. As he drank vintage wine found in a wooden barrel, he devoured the dry bread.
Everything was as usual apart from eating and drinking, as if he was there to scavenge the dungeon.
'Morton, doesn't seem like there're many prisoners on the second layer?'
'The prisoners locked upstairs are mostly trash, ordinary prison guards can ensure they don't cause trouble. The Prison Director is dead, the dungeon has fallen, can those locked in the upper two floors survive? Of course not, they've basically been swallowed by darkness, becoming part of the dungeon.
The ground you walk on or the walls you touch might be partly constructed from them. The entire dungeon's capability to continuously reset might be due to extracting their energy.'
'Up ahead should be the prison guard Rest Room, hurry up and grab the key, head to the Transition Layer… truth be told, I've picked up quite a lot in internet cafes, I'm feeling quite confident now.'
Luo Di's movents remained calm, 'No rush… the child isn't dead yet. Every kill increases my understanding and insight of the ancient tis, don't overlook them.'
'What're you pretending for? With such a killer instinct, why were you squatting in the kitchen before fleeing?'
Luo Di did not respond, and moved towards the door of the prison guard's Rest Room.
He first placed the tal backpack aside, to avoid dirtying the supplies he painstakingly collected in the forthcoming battle, considering everyone residing in such a dungeon harbored so quirks.
He then slightly rolled up his sleeves, lightly knocking the ground with his shoe tip to adjust tightness.
Prepared,
He pushed the door open and entered.
The scene inside was nearly the sa, a similarly dressed prison guard, holding a baton, stood there, keys hanging from his waist.
His build was robust, yet his prowess was no match for the "Rat King" encountered on the first floor.
Crack!
Luo Di flexed his cervical vertebra, forcibly suppressing the physiological dissection brought about by the ancient days.
As moonlight shone,
Resembling dance steps,
He sliced the over two-ter-tall prison guard from head to toe in half with one stroke.
Yet, Luo Di's pupils reflected confusion, not seeing any trace of Fear in the prison guard's eyes.
Knowing well he had just beheaded multiple prison guards on the first floor, whether it was the timid Rat King or the ordinary guards encountered afterwards, they all expressed Fear at the mont of impending Execution, a kind of Fear of being executed by the Murderer.
This prison guard on the second layer, however, showed no sign of Fear throughout, his abilities seed utterly diocre.
It was as if he had long lost emotion, having already turned into a re mindless body.
Suddenly, Luo Di realized sothing.
Black-eyed Morton simultaneously glimpsed sothing, incessantly prompting.
Yet Luo Di continued to pay no heed, squatting, reaching for the keys on the prison guard.
The mont before touching,
The skin around the key suddenly started writhing, dozens to hundreds of fingers burst out from the skin, like worms, like parasites, moving so fast, they adhered closely to him.
Pa!
A child's face also seeped out, completely pressed against Luo Di's outstretched palm.
Nerve connection,
The crying was directly transmitted through contact.
Buzz...
Ears ringing, consciousness sinking, darkness surging.
It was unclear how much ti had passed,
Rain tapped against the glass,
Luo Di suddenly woke up from a dream, he returned to his familiar bedroom, the desk at the bedside still had uncollected notebooks on it.
Various textbooks clearly marked with [Third Grade of Elentary School]
On the desk, there were no posters of murderers, nor any design sketches.
This bedroom also appeared very new, Luo Di even rembered he needed to get up at seven tomorrow, when his father would ride a bike to take him to a nearby elentary school.
Looking at the rain constantly tapping on the window, for a mont it seed like fingers knocking on it.
But Luo Di wasn't afraid, he just continued to close his eyes wanting to fall asleep.
However... Wah!
A burst of crying ca, causing him to suddenly open his eyes, all traces of sleep gone.
He could be certain, the sound was inside the house!
He put on pajamas, slipped into slippers.
Creak!
The door hinges turned...
Luo Di cautiously walked out, the crying beca more distinct, it was coming from the living room.
Who was crying? He clearly rembered his parents had a good relationship, they rarely argued, and even if they did, it wouldn't be like this. And his sister was always a strong person, she would never cry so loudly in the middle of the night.
He walked step by step towards the living room, slowly seeing the source of the crying.
It was a little boy, stark naked, squatting in a corner, with his head completely buried in his body, making his features unseeable.
Luo Di didn't rush to get close but looked towards the attire mirror beside him.
He himself was also a third-grade primary school student, but there was no fear in his pupils like those of his peers.
He went to the kitchen, picked up a kitchen knife, and then slowly approached.
Just as he was about to get close... Clang!
The kitchen knife in his hand suddenly dropped to the ground.
This wasn't Luo Di's subjective action, but he couldn't hold the knife... Looking down, his ten fingers surprisingly had grown small smiling faces, all crying, out of his control.
Not only that.
As the wailing increased,
Luo Di's entire skin started moving, as if more of these smiling faces were going to grow out of his body.
Even so,
In the eyes of the primary schooler Luo Di, there was still no fear, only a streak of rain cloud seeping through, moonlit white light pouring into the room.
No hands, it didn't matter.
He still had the most primitive, also the most useful, weapon belonging to humans.
Crackling~
His ten fingers successively broke off, one by one fell to the ground... The small faces on the finger surfaces turned painfully distorted, still sticky with saliva.
Luo Di bit off his own fingers alive, then imdiately lunged forward.
The boy crying in the corner didn't have ti to turn his head before a large piece of shoulder at was bitten off.
Eat...
Luo Di had learned a lot in the cafeteria, after all, Hunter was his chef.
In the middle of the night,
Luo Di licked the fresh blood off the corner of his mouth, biting a remaining human head as he approached the window ledge.
At so point, outside the house where the torrential rain poured, it was already filled with kneeling passersby, their faces full of piety.
"You should never have used my hotown mories to deconstruct my psyche..."
Click!
The dream broke off.
Prison Guard Rest Room.
The small boy with a face full of fingers had been completely torn apart on the ground, this scene was no different from the dream, only the incomplete head was still held in Luo Di's hand.
Black-eyed Morton witnessed the whole process, unable to say a word.
Death descended,
The old entity that should have died long ago, at this mont drifted away with the wind.
However...
A single finger remained, forming a kind of [?] structure on the ground.
