"It’s Beckett, Mr. Beckett."

After Helen Cross finished speaking, Natalie looked utterly incredulous.

No way!

They’re father and son, by blood!

How could that be?

"You’re lying!"

"I’m not! I swear I’m not!" Helen hurriedly said, "I saw it with my own eyes! That day in the study, Old Mr. Beckett and Mr. Beckett were arguing, and then Old Mr. Beckett just collapsed."

"So my grandpa had a heart attack!"

But Helen shook her head, "...Mr. Beckett took Old Mr. Beckett’s dicine."

The dicine!

When Natalie heard that, she froze.

Twelve years ago, she’d saved her grandpa by getting him his dicine.

Sebastian Beckett’s illness had been there for years, and he always kept his ds close, never letting them out of his sight.

"You saw it yourself?"

"Yes."

"Maybe you rembered wrong." Natalie still couldn’t accept it.

"I didn’t get it wrong, it’s real. Honestly, it was Mr. Beckett who took Old Mr. Beckett’s dicine. I—I have proof! I fild a video!"

Natalie gritted her teeth, "Where’s the video?"

Helen’s gaze flickered, suddenly looking uncertain.

Natalie instantly got it, and asked, "How much do you want?"

Helen suddenly covered her face and started sobbing.

She said she’d been forced, she had nowhere else to turn, that’s why she did it.

Natalie didn’t want to hear any of it; she just wanted whatever evidence Helen claid she had.

Helen said the video wasn’t with her, but with her brother.

"Where’s your brother?"

"Isaac, what’s going on with you and Natalie?"

Franklin Finch tossed a water bottle to Isaac Vaughn, "Things between you two have been weird. Did you guys fight?"

Isaac twisted the cap off, took a sip, and glanced at the tightly shut door.

From the look of it, odds are pretty high they did fight.

Franklin leaned in to offer advice: "Hey, people always say couples argue at the head of the bed and make up at the end. Tonight, go take a nice shower, seduce Natalie a little. Once you hit the sheets, all this drama is history!"

"Piss off!"

He was already pissed, and after hearing this, Isaac was even more annoyed.

Franklin rolled his eyes and muttered how his good intentions were being thrown out like rotten liver.

Just then the door opened.

Isaac imdiately got up to greet her.

But Natalie walked right past him, up to Franklin: "Thanks for all you’ve done lately."

Franklin cleared his throat and shot a glance at Isaac, scratching his head: "Oh man, you’re being way too polite."

"I might need your help for a few more days, but I’ll sort things out as quickly as I can, and take him away."

"Yeah, sure, no rush." Franklin shot Isaac a look.

Isaac stepped behind Natalie and said, "He’s with , don’t worry."

While he spoke, he gently put his hand on Natalie’s shoulder, "Shall we go?"

Natalie nodded a goodbye to Franklin, then walked off.

Isaac stared at his empty hand, sighing quietly.

Franklin glanced at Natalie’s cold, distant back, then clapped Isaac on the shoulder: "The road will be tough and long, my friend."

——

Isaac took Natalie downstairs.

The car ca to a stop.

He was racking his brain for any excuse to go ho with her.

But Natalie didn’t give him the chance; she opened the door, got out, and walked into the building without a second glance.

Isaac gritted his teeth and chased after her, catching up at the elevator so they were side by side.

Natalie turned to look at him, her eyes icy.

"What are you doing?" she demanded in a cold tone.

Isaac parted his lips, a million words swirling in his mouth, but he finally said, "Let make you dinner."

Natalie thought he was hilarious.

"No need."

Isaac’s fingers at his side twitched and then clenched up again.

Ping—the elevator arrived.

Natalie stepped inside.

And just before the elevator doors closed, a hand suddenly shot between them.

Isaac squeezed in.
