A single orange anti-explosion lamp could not light up the large Monitoring Room. A dim human shadow was reflected on the wall.
Qin Lun rested his head on a single fist. His eyes stared blankly at the wall with unfocused eyes. His expression shifted between gloomy and bright as he was lost in thought.
Little Mute was lying on the only shabby sofa in the Monitoring Room. A large coat covered her body, and she was sleeping soundly.
“Hmm!” Little Mute’s dark eyelashes fluttered slightly. She made a soft sound and woke up. She rubbed her eyes, propped herself up from the sofa, and looked completely confused, as if she had not yet sorted out her thoughts.
“Squeak! Squeak!” Sensing that its owner was awake, the Little Squirrel climbed onto Little Mute’s ear and poked its head out from under her hair.
When Little Mute entered the Space-Ti Converter, neither she nor Qin Lun noticed it. The little thing followed them in. Unexpectedly, it also survived, but its current condition was sothing even Qin Lun could not determine.
This little thing definitely did not count as an Apostle. Qin Lun had never heard of Shattered Starry Sky turning a non-intelligent creature into an Apostle. However, it was not a summoned creature either. The way its Law Body was converted was completely different from converting a summoned creature.
Perhaps during the entire conversion process, the Little Squirrel was considered a part of Little Mute. It was likely that the Souls of the girl and the squirrel had ford so inexplicable connection. They were probably in a symbiotic relationship now, which fit well with how the two had always relied on each other for survival.
“You’re awake. Eat sothing.” Qin Lun turned his head and tossed a piece of black dried at to Little Mute.
Little Mute still looked very disoriented. Seeing a black object thrown at her, she shuddered and quickly scrambled backward on all fours, shrinking into a corner of the sofa.
Little Mute only had the coat covering her. As she retreated, the coat slipped off, making her feel a sudden chill. She then realized she was completely naked, with her bottom exposed.
“Yaa! Yaa! Yaa!” Little Mute let out a series of cries. She quickly put on the large coat, jumped off the sofa, and then crouched in the corner, hugging her knees. After a while, she secretly opened one eye to peek at Qin Lun.
Qin Lun had no ti to pay attention to her right now. He was aimlessly operating the monitoring screen while nervously thinking.
After Little Mute woke up, she gradually began to feel hungry. Seeing that Qin Lun was no longer paying attention to her, she quietly stepped forward a few steps, picked up the dried at the young man had thrown, and retreated back to the corner. She tore off small pieces and ate them, occasionally feeding so to the Little Squirrel on her shoulder.
Soon, however, the little girl noticed the changes in her body. The previous feeling of being dirty and sticky was gone, replaced by a long-lost freshness, much like when her parents used to bathe her and apply baby powder.
Little Mute secretly peeked inside the collar of the coat. She still had the sa bony, skinny appearance, but her skin was much fairer, looking pink and tender, with a hint of flesh color returning.
“You just converted your Law Body. It’s best to move around more to get used to it.” Little Mute was looking down at herself when a soft voice suddenly ca from in front of her, startling her. She looked up and saw Qin Lun placing a cup of water in front of her.
The young man put down the water and turned back to the monitoring screen. Little Mute pouted, picked up the cup, and drank it all in one go. She still felt sowhat resentful inside. This water, this food—it had all originally been hers. Qin Lun had taken over her place and still refused to leave…
“Oh, little one, you should keep this.” Without turning his head, Qin Lun tossed another item to her.
Little Mute caught it and found it was that tattered doll. She had originally given it to Qin Lun as a trade item to activate the Space-Ti Converter. Little Mute wiped the dirt off the doll’s face. Slowly, a layer of tears welled up in her eyes, and large drops began to fall. She hugged the doll tightly, buried her head in her knees, and her shoulders trembled slightly.
Qin Lun had no ti to comfort the little girl right now. His mind was heavy. After Little Mute completed her Law Body conversion, he had contacted the Space-Ti Converter again. As expected, Shattered Starry Sky offered another temporary employnt quest, but the reward was still an increase of one rank in quest evaluation, with no change at all.
Qin Lun decisively gave up on this temporary employnt quest again. After the countdown ended, he contacted the Space-Ti Converter once more and started refreshing the quest. This ti, the reward for the temporary employnt quest was indeed different, offering options like 100,000 Shattered Crystals and Skill Scrolls.
It was hard to compare whether increasing quest evaluation by one rank or the usual quest reward of Shattered Crystals was more important. Qin Lun refreshed the temporary employnt quest several more tis and finally chose the ordinary quest reward. However, he did not select the 100,000 Shattered Crystals from the reward options. Instead, he chose ten points of Soul Life Limit, one random Skill Scroll, and one recovery item.
The Skill Scroll was an Interdiate Stress Training Scroll. Qin Lun imdiately used it on his dagger skills, upgrading them to Interdiate Dagger Mastery. The recovery item was a bottle of High-Concentration Holy Water, which had good restorative effects on both Health Points and Stamina/Energy Points, and could also remove various negative effects.
These three simple quest rewards would definitely not be as good as increasing quest evaluation if they were in a Quest World, but during the Domination War, they were more valuable than an increase in quest evaluation. Especially that bottle of High-Concentration Holy Water, which could be said to be worth a fortune.
Destroying the Space-Ti Converter was very easy. Qin Lun had originally thought he needed to destroy the entire machine, but in fact, Shattered Starry Sky only required him to destroy the Law symbols on the surface of the device.
Without the cover of these Law symbols, the internal Law of the Space-Ti Converter would be neutralized and rged by the World Law of Shattered Starry Sky. After that, regardless of whether the Space-Ti Converter was intact or not, its Law would no longer be effective.
In other words, even if soone were to create another Space-Ti Converter in Shattered Starry Sky in the future, the Space-Ti Law inside it would no longer have the effect of space-ti conversion.
Little Mute did not know yet that she had been unconscious and asleep for two full days and one night. During her sleep, several large chaotic battles had taken place in the area monitored by the Underground Research Facility. Through five or six days of monitoring, Qin Lun gradually began to understand the situation in this Domination War area.
Qin Lun estimated that the number of Novice Apostles in this Domination War area had dropped to less than a hundred, possibly only seventy or eighty remaining. However, he slowly realized that the current situation was beginning to slip out of his control.
He had originally planned to use the Treasure Map to cause the Novice Apostles in this Domination War area to kill each other, reducing the total number to twenty or thirty. In his plan, by that ti, the remaining twenty or thirty Novice Apostles should have been extrely weak, with their Stamina/Energy Points and Magic Scroll reserves nearly depleted.
Now, however, he realized this was just his wishful thinking! Although the remaining seventy or eighty Apostles had mostly exhausted their item reserves, almost every one of them was stronger than him.
Even though Qin Lun still had a few Magic Scrolls, Elf Ancient Tree Essence, and a small half-pot of Walnut Wine, and now also had a bottle of High-Concentration Holy Water, every ti he simulated a direct fight, he lost more often than he won.
The reason was that the remaining Apostles had very complete professional skill systems. Even without relying on the assistance of Magic Scrolls, they were still strong on their own.
In contrast, Qin Lun himself did not have very powerful damage skills. No matter how strong his Eye Techniques and detection skills were, they had no damage capability. In a direct confrontation with these Apostles, he could only hope to win through a battle of attrition. And such battles of attrition were exactly the kind of combat plans Qin Lun was most unwilling to implent.
This was not the final selection round. Once he entered a battle of attrition, whether a third party would intervene was another matter. Most of the remaining seventy or eighty Apostles, having survived this long, had life-saving thods. Without a powerful trump card, they would not wait to be worn down by Qin Lun.
The result of a direct fight would likely be Qin Lun exhausting himself and helplessly watching his target escape. And that was just against the ordinary ones among the seventy or eighty Apostles. If it were against those few freaks who could challenge across ranks, then Qin Lun would have almost no hope of winning.
Besides the unexpected strength of these Apostles, there was another key point Qin Lun had not anticipated. There were about four and a half days left until the end of the Domination War. However, as the deadline approached, the intensity of the fights had started to decrease.
The remaining seventy or eighty Apostles, after these days of fighting, had a rough understanding of the situation.
They knew who was not to be ssed with and who they could handle. Most Apostles had passed the initial probing phase. Even Treasure Map Fragnts could hardly lure them into life-or-death battles anymore.
And those few freaks with cross-rank combat power could no longer massacre others on a large scale like they did at the beginning. One reason was that the remaining Apostles were also strong and were no longer easy targets for slaughter.
The other reason was that everyone now recognized their strength and would not easily engage them in battle. The weakest Apostles had even begun to form temporary teams to resist the strong together.
After reassessing the situation through these days of monitoring, Qin Lun found that even if he waited until the Domination War ended, this area should still have fifty to sixty Novice Apostles left, not the initially estimated twenty or thirty.
In other words, these Apostles had reached a stalemate. The weaker ones understood the situation, gave up on competing for the Treasure Map, and no longer joined fights recklessly. The strong ones, after the killings earlier, had already gained enough. They also stopped focusing solely on collecting Treasure Maps to avoid being taken advantage of by other strong opponents.
This left Qin Lun in a very awkward position. With his current preparations, if he set traps for the weaker ones among the seventy or eighty Apostles, he could handle one or two. However, most of these weaker ones had only killed one or two people. Adding their own Invitation Letters, even if Qin Lun succeeded in an ambush, the gain would be around 300,000 Shattered Crystals at most.
To achieve his initial plan’s goal, Qin Lun had to deal with those few freaks with cross-rank combat power. Those individuals had each collected seven or eight Invitation Letters. Because they had killed more people, they might also have other Atlantis relics found by other Apostles.
Thinking of this, Qin Lun could not help but direct his gaze to the few video recordings left on the monitoring screen and began to analyze them carefully.
