Three months have passed since the announcent of the Inter-academy tournant, which will be held in a month, but at this mont, it is ti for the selection of candidates for that tournant.
Every first-year student was present on the grounds, none were skipping this.
Skipping this ans they would miss the opportunity of participating in the Inter-academy tournant, where the rewards for the winners would be very generous.
Even if they can’t win in that tournant, as long as they were selected as a candidate to participate from the academy, the academy would invest a lot of resources in them, so that they could perform well in that tournant.
Who would say no to such a chance of getting generous rewards?
Only an idiot would say no to such an opportunity. So, every first-year student was present at the grounds, where the candidate selection would take place.
The only ones in the spectator stand were the staff of the academy, who were there to oversee the competition between the students.
Though this is kind of like a competition, no one other than first years and the staff were allowed. Moreover, the seniors have their own things to deal with.
The alliance, after all, can’t just increase the rewards for the first-year students who have just entered the society of awakeners and think that they can take care of everything.
The increase in tournant rewards was just for first-year students.
There are many changes that occurred for the seniors, too, especially for the fourth-year students who are closer to graduation.
Since there was a crisis coming that could upheave the entire world, the alliance is preparing everyone for the war slowly and subtly, without causing panic among the public.
The Alliance’s goal was to improve the strength of the people so that when the crisis occurs, they can stand tall and overco it with minimal damage.

Aaron too arrived and took a position at the back corner, keeping away from others. Though he has attended a few classes, he has not made any friends in that ti. The only friend he made was the girl, Erika, whom he had t at the orientation.
It was quite difficult for him to interact with others in the first place.
Now, so were intimidated by him. After all, not only did he rank first in the alliance exam, but also in the first tournant. Though he had not shown his face for the other tournants, the students knew that he was stronger than them.
Though as a Death Mage, his future growth may stop at one point, but for the near future, the status quo would remain so. He would be stronger than them.
This also brought envy and jealousy among so students.
So were envious because of the benefits that he was enjoying at the mont. Though no one knew the benefits that he was enjoying, they could easily imagine from the information that they gathered and from rumours.
So of the students were jealous as they believed that they were the top of the world when they awakened, only to see that there were many above them.
They couldn’t accept that, especially when that soone is present in the sa academy as them.
"Are you feeling nervous? I am very nervous about this", Erika said to Aaron, who was beside her.
Aaron nodded, "I am nervous too".
"You know, I heard so rumours that there would be a war in the future", Erika spoke to him in a low voice.
Aaron frowned, hearing those words. Those are not ones she should say, at least he thinks so.
"Why would you say that?" he asked her to find out why she said that.
"My father said that I should concentrate on improving myself as soon as possible, and when I asked him about the reason why he was speaking like that, he said that sothing bad was going to happen. He didn’t ntion what it is, probably because he couldn’t", she answered him.
Hearing those words, Aaron understood that he may know Erika, but had no idea about her family.
Either her family is powerful or has connections in the alliance. It didn’t matter to him.
"Is that so? Then you should do as your father says. After all, he shouldn’t lie about such things, right?"
"Yeah, that’s why I am nervous now. I am sure there would be many who would know about this. So, this competition and the tournant that would be in a mont would be brutal", she said.
Aaron nodded his head in agreent about that.
If Erika knew, there is a chance that many knew about the upcoming crisis, especially the families of the ones who were able to upgrade their grades like him.
The competition would be a cut-throat one, but he was well prepared for this.

"Hello everyone", a young woman appeared on the stage before the assembled first-year students and said, "You already know who I am and why you are here. So, there was no need to talk about unnecessary details".
"The competition is simple. Everyone present here would draw a number, and the computer would randomly assign two numbers to fight. The one who wins would proceed to the next stage of duels. This continued until there were four at the end".
"The ones that lost in the first round would not be eliminated, rather, they would fight among each other again till only one was left. Of course, this only applies to the ones that lost in the first round, not to others who lost later on. They are eliminated except for the ones who lost against the last four winners of the Winner Set".
"The last one from the loser set would fight with these four, and the winner would join the winner set, becoming the five candidates that would participate in the tournant representing the Dusk Academy. These five would get various rewards for making it into the five-mber team, but that depends on how powerful they are".
"The first four would fight with each other to establish the first four seats of the team. The one that ca from the loser set would automatically take the last seat in the team and thereby receive the least amount of rewards".
"Now, one by one, co on to the stage and pick your numbers from the bowls that are placed on the stage. Once you get your token, return to your position. Once everyone got a token, the duels would start", Lyanna ended her speech.
As she instructed, the students started to move to collect their token numbers from the bowls placed on the stage.
