Chapter 72: Overwheld by Show-offs

Early the next morning, Lin Qin and ng Chao went to the film set since they had an early shoot.

About an hour later, ng Ke arrived, but he seed low in spirits, looking utterly dejected as if he’d suffered a major blow.

When ng Chao was taking a break, ng Ke leaned over to him, "I’m heading back at noon."

With Han Zhi leaving, ng Ke also wanted to leave. Knowing he’d benefitted from his brother, he still ca over to say goodbye, which showed he had a lot of affection for his brother, ng Chao.

ng Chao glanced at ng Ke, teasing, "What? Failed to pull off your drunken bravado last night?"

ng Ke let out a long sigh at the ntion of this, "Let’s not talk about it." He looked a bit defeated, not wanting to elaborate.

ng Chao clicked his tongue sympathetically, "Poor guy."

But in the next second, ng Ke changed to a hopeful expression, "Do you have any work lined up after this movie is finished?"

ng Chao imdiately went on alert, moving slightly away from ng Ke.

ng Ke continued to move closer to ng Chao.

ng Chao pushed him away a bit, maintaining so distance, "If you have sothing to say, just say it. Stop being so clingy."

"You first tell if you have any work after this," ng Ke persistently asked, waiting for a definite answer.

ng Chao stared at ng Ke for a long ti before suddenly chuckling, "I know what you want. I’ve got three words for you..."

ng Ke tensed up, "Don’t say it!"

ng Chao deliberately slowed down, emphasizing each word, "I, am, busy!"

"I had your agent send your schedule. After the movie, you’re on break!" ng Ke accused. He just hoped ng Chao would return to the company to hold down the fort so he could have so ti to pursue his girlfriend. If he didn’t hurry, she’d be gone.

"I’m indeed on break," ng Chao admitted generously, "But being on break doesn’t an I have nothing to do."

"What could be more important than pursuing my girlfriend?" ng Ke asked urgently.

ng Chao laughed, "Of course there’s sothing. I’m taking my girlfriend on a trip."

ng Ke was infuriated, You’ve got a girlfriend, so what?!

ng Chao patted ng Ke’s shoulder, "Maybe you could have the old man handle it himself."

ng Ke laughed dryly, "Do you think that’s possible?" If the old man knew he was ditching work to chase after his wife, he’d break his legs.

"Then there’s nothing we can do," ng Chao shrugged, looking helpless.

ng Ke still wanted to try convincing ng Chao, but the production staff were already calling them.

"Anyway, good luck!" ng Chao cheerfully encouraged, then turned around to shoot his scene, leaving ng Ke regretfully clenching his fists.

At noon, ng Ke was called back by an urgent call from his secretary, pausing his plans to convince ng Chao to return to the company. However, he didn’t give up, and for the next two months, ng Ke sent nurous texts to ng Chao, always asking the sa thing: would you be willing to return to the company?

After being rejected multiple tis by ng Chao, ng Ke’s texts grew increasingly woeful, and ng Chao found great amusent in reading them daily.

Eventually, feeling sorry for his brother, ng Chao finally agreed to return to the company before the wrap-up of "Silent Fight." But only for half a month.

ng Ke was so exhilarated that he transferred a large sum of money to ng Chao imdiately.

ng Ke: "Here’s so money for you and Lin Qin’s travel fund. Splurge on whatever you like, and if it’s not enough, ask for more."

ng Chao: "In the future, if you want to transfer money to , use this account number. xx Bank: xxx..."

ng Ke: "When did you get a new card?"

ng Chao: "It’s Lin Qin’s card."

ng Ke: "..."

ng Chao: "From now on, my money is Lin Qin’s money."

ng Ke: "..."

ng Chao: "You could also leave all your assets to Han Zhi."

ng Ke: "..."

ng Chao: "Oh, I forgot, you haven’t won Han Zhi’s heart yet."

ng Ke: "..."

ng Chao: "I plan to propose to Lin Qin during this trip. Give so advice, where would be romantic to propose, and where should the wedding be held?"

ng Ke: "....."

Feeling overwheld by being shown off to, ng Ke threw his phone in anger, deciding not to reply to ng Chao anymore. So what if you managed to win their heart? Just wait a few days, and I’ll have Han Zhi’s heart! I’ll also transfer all my assets to Han Zhi, and propose too!

Seeing ng Ke stop responding, ng Chao chuckled and put away his phone, his gaze falling gently on Lin Qin, who was still shooting late into the night.

Tonight’s scene was the final scene of "Silent Fight." Ti had flown by, and over five months had passed. The weather had shifted from scorching heat to bitter cold, and a heavy snow had even fallen on the set today.

There was heat inside the set, so it wasn’t too cold, but Lin Qin, wearing a thin shirt, was already fully absorbed in his role. Every action and expression was no longer Lin Qin but the character from "Silent Fight."

They say focused people are the most attractive, and ng Chao thought this saying fit Lin Qin perfectly. In any case, ng Chao felt utterly captivated by Lin Qin, his eyes and heart filled with him, leaving no room for anyone else.

This scene was between Lin Qin and the second male lead, Huang Wankai. Huang Wankai, who was an undercover agent within the police, was finally exposed and was attempting to escape in the dead of night.

Lin Qin discovered Huang Wankai’s tracks and pursued him relentlessly.

Huang Wankai wasn’t really talented, but the director couldn’t reject this actor because the producers forced him in. Thankfully, during the entire filming process, Lin Qin and ng Chao’s excellent acting could lead other actors into the scene, and with the director being a renowned one who knew how to guide, Huang Wankai didn’t end up dragging the project down.

However, tonight, Huang Wankai was in terrible form, with the sa scene taking more than ten takes, and he just couldn’t deliver what the director wanted. Huang Wankai either forgot his lines, missed his cues, or even interrupted Lin Qin’s dialogue, making the situation extrely awkward.

No one expected the film, which had been progressing smoothly, to stall at the final scene, causing the director to furiously berate Huang Wankai. Initially, they planned to wrap up by ten o’clock, but due to Huang Wankai, they dragged on until one in the morning, and the scene still wasn’t complete.

Everyone had been busy all day, and by that point, they were exhausted and sleepy. Unfortunately, the person crucial to their getting off work simply wasn’t getting it, and the staff could only mutter complaints under their breath. However, when the director shouted "action," they still had to muster up the energy to shoot properly.

The person who should have been the most tired was Lin Qin. Since Huang Wankai couldn’t get the scene right, Lin Qin kept repeating it with him repeatedly. If it were soone with a short temper, they would have exploded by now.

But Lin Qin was exceptionally patient, going through take after take, giving a flawless performance each ti. Seeing this, the director began to feel sorry for Lin Qin.

"Take a break!" After yet another failed take, the director said with a dark expression.
