anwhile, not far from the city gate.
"Don’t kill ! Ah!"
Wang Jinhui scread tragically as he fell to the ground.
The shadow servant shook the fresh blood off the barbarian blade, his expression one of considerable disappointnt.
He had been ordered to pursue and kill Wang Jinhui, and the reason he had waited until now to take action was that he wanted to see if Wang Jinhui was indeed planning to leak information. He hoped he might follow this clue to find the location where Gao Ze and the local militia were gathering.
But after following him for a while, he realized he had thought too much.
This Wang Jinhui had no intention whatsoever of contacting the militia; he was simply fleeing!
The shadow servant was greatly disappointed, so he casually killed him.
It was now deep into the night, and the small county town seed rather dead silent. He sheathed his sword, readying to return to the theatre.
However, just at that mont, he saw that in the direction of the theatre, a blazing fire had already erupted!
The shadow servant couldn’t help but be shocked, seeing it as an extrely dangerous signal!
Two shadow servants were originally supposed to stay on the rooftop to signal a warning, but the Eastern Barbarian General had sent both of them out to keep an eye on Wang Jinhui and Yang Xinyan, leaving the roof unattended at the mont.
The bandits had thought that even if Gao Ze successfully rallied the local militia to strike back at the theatre, it would certainly not happen until the latter part of the night or even at dawn. Therefore, even if the shadow servant returned after killing Wang Jinhui, there would be ample ti.
But they had not expected that the local militia would launch a counterattack so swiftly!
How on earth had they managed to organize so many people in such a short ti?
...
Earlier on.
The voice of Su Xianjun still echoed within the theatre, lingering and unceasing.
"I watch him build high towers, I watch him feast his guests, I watch his towers collapse..."
The Eastern Barbarian General, initially entirely imrsed in Su Xianjun’s singing, twitched his facial muscles ever so slightly and then showed a troubled expression.
He was wrestling with his conscience.
The Eastern Barbarian General himself was completely attracted like the other bandits, but the demon possessing him had not been swayed. Instead, it kept alert, struggling for control over the body!
As ti passed, the demon’s influence gradually increased, and that lurking sense of crisis continued to erode the Eastern Barbarian General’s original will until his mind experienced a mont of clarity.
Then, the Eastern Barbarian General frowned and abruptly stood up!
For he had just realized that the air was perated with the pungent sll of kerosene, and despite the supposed tranquility of the night, he now heard dense footsteps and many other sounds!
Those were the sounds of piling firewood and splashing kerosene.
The theatre’s accompanying music was loud, and Su Xianjun’s vocals kept resonating as if by so kind of magic power, drawing away the bandits’ attention entirely, leaving them completely unaware of the danger outside.
"Why haven’t the two shadow servants given any warning!
"Why have these local militia arrived so quickly!"
The demons possessing the General and Wandering Warrior looked at each other and saw confusion in each other’s eyes.
With an angry shout from the General, the other Eastern Barbarian bandits also ca to their senses.
The scholar was pushed fiercely by a bandit beside him and nearly fell to the ground.
"How dare you turn on , you...
"Where did that firelight co from? Where’s that firelight coming from!"
The scholar, completely absorbed in Su Xianjun’s singing, was indignant at being pushed, but then he saw that a raging fire had already started outside the theatre. The stinging smoke from the kerosene hit him in the face, scaring him out of his wits!
The bandits began to rush out in frenzy, but Huo Yun Ying, playing the role of Gao Ze, had already led the militia to block the theatre’s main entrance tightly.
"Kill all these bandits, not sparing a single one!"
Empowered by the righteous energy of the "powerful moral songs," the militia’s spirits soared, firmly blocking the exit, not letting anyone escape.
"Move aside!"
Seeing the fire grow more intense, the Eastern Barbarian General could no longer contain himself and, wielding a large cross spear, rushed towards the exit of the theatre!
Forcing his way out through the fire, the bamboo parts of his armor were also ignited, making him look utterly disheveled. But when two militia mbers tried to stop him, they were simply knocked away by the cross spear.
Several long spears struck him, but due to the protection of his heavy armor, they could hardly inflict any damage.
"You all continue to hold off those common bandits, leave this person to !"
The Gao Ze played by Yun Ying stepped forward to et him.
At this mont, the eyes of the Eastern Barbarian General seed to sparkle with firelight. He was in an almost crazed state, and the demon possessing him could make the most of this state to unleash a trendous power from the Eastern Barbarian General!
But Yun Ying was not panicked because, following their previous steps, they had already weakened the Eastern Barbarian General’s power as much as possible.
After blocking the theater’s main entrance, the Eastern Barbarian General could not ride his warhorse into battle. With heavy armor slowing his movents and his body still not entirely free from flas, his threat was significantly reduced.
All Yun Ying had to do was hold him off in the guise of the Ranger, preventing him from escaping. After that, they could slowly take care of him.
Seeing Gao Ze approaching, the demon possessing the Eastern Barbarian General revealed a vicious expression from beneath the mask.
He had a hunch that this Gao Ze might very well be played by a Reorderer!
If he could kill Gao Ze, it would an severely weakening the Reorderers’ power. Even if they couldn’t successfully alter the entire historical fragnt, it would still be a big win!
...
anwhile, the Wandering Warrior forcefully climbed over the burning fire wall.
Just as he thought he could successfully escape, he saw Yang Xinyan erging from the shadows not reached by the firelight on the opposite side.
At this mont, Yang Xinyan had completely lost the yes-man deanor he showed earlier in the theater. Instead, he calmly drew the Yi knife from his waist.
The Wandering Warrior recognized it—it was the Yi knife of a Shadow Servant!
As for why it was in Yang Xinyan’s hands...
It was sowhat incomprehensible.
Just like how it was incomprehensible why Yang Xinyan didn’t turn to run away but instead stepped forward to et him.
Could it be... he still wants to fight ?
Zhao Haiping held the Yi knife in both hands and calmly said, "We et again.
"Please make your moves a bit more cooperative this ti. Don’t ss it up.
"I’m afraid of pain, and besides, we might end up on TV."
The Wandering Warrior had no idea what Yang Xinyan was talking about, but the latter’s attitude of not taking him seriously truly inflad his anger.
"Die!"
The Wandering Warrior raised his Yi knife high and charged at Yang Xinyan with a storm of slashes!
In his view, Yang Xinyan was just an actor, a groveling nobody in the theater, who had almost been dragged out to be executed by the General. What skills could he have?
If he didn’t kill him within three strikes, it would be a disgrace.
However, after a series of clashing blades, the Wandering Warrior stared at the Yi knife in his hands, unable to believe his eyes.
Yang Xinyan had perfectly parried every one of his strikes!
What shocked him even more was that, in the mont he was taken aback, Yang Xinyan had pulled sothing from his bosom and hurled it over.
"Watch out for the hidden weapon!"
Yang Xinyan shouted, and the Wandering Warrior was startled, then saw that it was actually a cross-shaped flying sword!
The Wandering Warrior hurriedly swung his Yi knife to deflect the hidden weapon, but Yang Xinyan’s relentless attack had already arrived.
The Wandering Warrior suddenly fell into a passive state, with Yang Xinyan wielding the Yi knife not only with great strength but also with imnse speed, pressing him to the point where he couldn’t catch his breath.
Suddenly, the Wandering Warrior felt a wave of heat on his back—he had unwittingly been forced back to the edge of the theater’s burning wall!
Distracted for a mont, he felt a chill in his chest!
The Wandering Warrior swung his Yi knife fiercely in retaliation, but Yang Xinyan deftly dodged with a swift move.
The Wandering Warrior wanted to pursue further, but his strength drained from his body as if it had been sucked out. Looking down, he realized that a grueso wound had opened across his chest, bone-deep.
The Wandering Warrior’s eyes were filled with disbelief. In fact, his combat ability was still superior to his opponent’s. It just appeared that his opponent had anticipated every move he would make whether it was the hidden weapon or the fire wall, it seed to be within his adversary’s calculations...
Zhao Haiping finally exhaled, "That was close, he almost got .
"Good thing I practiced being unhard many tis before, otherwise a single hack would’ve done in."
Having dealt with the Wandering Warrior, Zhao Haiping imdiately prepared to hurry back to the theater’s main entrance.
However, at that mont, a stream of black energy flew out from the corpse of the Wandering Warrior, swiftly drifting towards the direction where the Eastern Barbarian General was.
