This gap is where the cannons would be placed.
The firing squad sotis proves ineffective, for instance, when facing an enemy using strong bows and crossbows with a range greater than that of the flintlock musket, it becos quite awkward.
But flintlock muskets were invincible in this era precisely because they could be paired with cannons.
Any corps that was too deep would pay a heavy price when facing cannons.
So the flintlock musket corps ford such a long horizontal line, designed to minimize the casualties caused by the enemy’s cannons.
The line of death was drawn.
The cavalry players each chose between light or heavy cavalry, ready on the flanks of the formation, waiting for the right mont to charge and pursue the enemy.
Flintlock muskets were ferocious, but even with the infantry’s legs, they couldn’t keep up with the cavalry.
On the river, players controlling the Qi Army’s naval force sealed off the entire waterway.
The modified new-style sea dragon boats, while retaining their original advantages, had enhanced firepower.
The hulls were fitted with many dark gun ports, now aid in the direction from which the demons were about to attack.
All was ready.
All that was missing were the brainless demons charging forward.
Sure enough, after a brief wait, Jin soldiers covered in Demonic Qi began their charge!
Compared to the Jin soldiers in the ultimate trial, these had beco complete demons, with a unified will.
And this was exactly what the players had been waiting for.
"Fire the cannons!"
At the command, the cannons roared in unison!
The cannons on shore and aboard the ships fired almost simultaneously at the distant demon army!
In the thick gunsmoke, massive solid cannonballs with great kinetic energy flew towards the demon formations, leaving behind a ghastly vertical line.
The iron balls bounced and rolled on the ground, and wherever they went, they left behind limbs of Jin soldiers possessed by demons.
These possessed Jin soldiers, enormously resilient to life, would still try to crawl forward with half their bodies smashed away, propelled by Demonic Qi.
To any typical human army, this salvo would have caused a collapse, but to demons, more deaths were just another number.
But that suited the players fine; they also wanted to test the lethality of these new weapons.
Soon, the flintlock muskets opened fire.
The big ships on the river fired their huge crossbows, hurled giant stones, or bombarded with cannon fire.
Niu Zhu Pier, which had once changed the fate of the Qi Dynasty, had now beco the players’ new weapons testing ground!
The cavalry players were still patiently waiting, waiting for the best mont to attack.
However, at that mont, they noticed so changes in the distant demons.
"Woo woo..."
A black wind swept over, and the demon in the shape of Xingtian, which had been among the rolling dark clouds, had arrived on the battlefield!
Imdiately after, a large amount of Demonic Qi was drawn from the Jin soldiers and gathered into its body.
An ancient deity appeared on the battlefield of Niu Zhu Pier!
It had no head but used its breasts for eyes and its navel as a mouth, and at this mont, it was glaring furiously, exuding a fierce aura.
It wore simple armor on its body, barefooted, and each of its huge arms held a large shield and an axe.
"You who lurk in the shadows, returners of order!
"Co out and face your death!"
Xingtian bellowed angrily, took a step forward, and covered an imnse distance!
The players, facing this nearly sky-high colossal demon, were sowhat stupefied.
This size was unprecedented!
While the players had previously encountered great demons that harnessed the power from entire slices of history, they paled in comparison to Xingtian.
After all, Xingtian was one of the four great demons under Chi You.
And although this slice of history did not comprise all its power, it still represented at least a third.
Such a formidable demon was sothing the players had never encountered before.
"What are you waiting for, fire!"
After a mont of hesitation, the players quickly ca to their senses.
Yes, fire the cannons!
Such a huge target, wasn’t it the perfect ti to test the accuracy of their cannon fire?
"Boom!"
"Boom boom boom..."
All the cannons aid at the charging Xingtian and fired, the cannonballs tracing an arc through the sky before striking their target!
The cannons were not particularly advanced, such as the extrely limited angle adjustnt for elevation.
But given Xingtian’s size, even his legs were a conspicuously sizeable target.
The players had never thought that one day they’d be using cannons to "trim" a boss’s feet.
The mont the cannonballs hit, black qi dispersed around Xingtian’s feet, then quickly closed up again.
But judging by Xingtian’s furious expression, it had indeed taken damage.
"Despicable reorders! You..."
Xingtian, raising the giant axe in its hand, sought to strike down the players ahead, but before it could bring the axe down, several more cannonballs struck its legs and feet.
This ti, the wounds didn’t imdiately close up with black qi.
Xingtian’s colossal body tilted forward, falling, resigned to prop itself up with the giant axe.
With a "boom," the axe plunged into the soil, making the entire ground seem to tremble.
Yet the players didn’t cease their assault; instead, they continued the chanical process of firing, launching one cannonball after another at Xingtian, who was now half-kneeling on the ground.
The players wielding flintlock muskets also opened fire in turn.
It was unclear how much damage was done, but at least they made a sound.
