The sanatorium was very quiet, hardly any extraneous noise could be heard.

Zhu Fei followed Qiu Ruoxue and the others upstairs, through several corridors, and finally ca to the door of a private advanced patient room.

Along the way, Zhu Fei vaguely felt that inside this sanatorium, there seed to be several dangerous auras.

He guessed that the owners of these dangerous auras were most likely the warriors responsible for guarding the place in secret.

At this mont, Zhu Fei and his group, under the guidance of an attending doctor, had opened the door to this private advanced patient room.

Upon entering the room, Zhu Fei imdiately saw,

On a hospital bed not far from his side, an elderly man with silver hair, an old face, a thin body, and an exceptionally feeble breath lay.

A breathing machine was stuffed into the elderly man’s mouth, and nurous monitoring equipnt tubes were inserted into his body, conveying an atmosphere of life’s twilight.

Indeed, in Zhu Fei’s perception, the elderly man before him, who was Qiu Ruoxue’s grandfather, Mr. Qiu, emanated an aura of life’s twilight.

Zhu Fei reckoned that if Mr. Qiu’s body continued to deteriorate at this rate, he doubted the old man would survive more than two months.

"Hmm, there’s no need for you here for now, you all may leave,"

At that ti, Song Yan suddenly spoke, addressing the surrounding security personnel and the attending doctor.

"Alright, if the two of you need anything later, you can just call us, we’ll be waiting outside,"

The security personnel and the attending doctor, clearly knowing the temperants of the two chiefs very well, didn’t say much more. After giving a slight bow, they each silently retreated.

When everyone outside had left, Song Yan then turned to Zhu Fei, taking the lead in asking, "Young friend, what do you think of Elder Qiu’s current condition?"

Zhu Fei placed a hand on Elder Qiu’s pulse, squinting his eyes, carefully observing the old man’s complexion.

He heard Song Yan’s question but did not respond imdiately. Instead, his brow furrowed slightly.

Suddenly seeing Zhu Fei’s expression, everyone present, including Qiu Ruoxue, as well as Song Yan and Elder ng, beca noticeably tense.

They were all afraid that Zhu Fei was also at a loss; if that were the case, then Mr. Qiu would truly be in danger.

Fortunately, Zhu Fei did not make those present wait too long.

He released Mr. Qiu’s wrist, frowned in thought for a mont, and then suddenly looked up at Song Yan, saying,

"Elder Song, you must have carefully examined Elder Qiu’s condition, right?"

Without waiting for Song Yan to answer, Zhu Fei directly continued, "Elder Qiu has accumulated old injuries over the years, and often hard himself with anger and sadness. Among the five emotions, he has been dominated by anger, pensiveness, and sadness, which has caused damage to his liver, spleen, and lungs."

"Moreover, due to his old age and weakness, his vital energy and blood are depleted, bringing his end nearer. However, these are not the main issues. The most important thing is..."

As he said this, a flash of golden light suddenly appeared in Zhu Fei’s eyes. He turned to look at everyone present, including Qiu Ruoxue, and said word by word,

"Elder Qiu has been secretly poisoned in the past, and this is the real reason for his present critical illness!"

"What? Poisoned?"

The mont Zhu Fei’s words dropped, whether it was Qiu Ruoxue, Song Yan, or Elder ng, they were all deeply shocked and their faces imdiately showed an extrely horrified expression!

"Zhu Fei, what exactly is going on? What else have you discovered? If it is poisoning, why didn’t I see it when I first examined him?"

As an elder of Chunqiu Pavilion, as well as a martial artist and a pharmacist, Song Yan had seen much of the world.

Although he was shocked at heart, his surface reaction was the fastest among them. He imdiately asked Zhu Fei with a serious tone,

"Hmm."

Zhu Fei nodded and then explained, "The poison that Elder Qiu has been afflicted with is not any specific poison, but a compound poison."

"In other words, the things Elder Qiu originally consud had no issues at all. However, when certain two substances are combined together, they react and transform into poison."

As he spoke, Zhu Fei looked towards Qiu Ruoxue and asked, "Ruoxue, tell , do you know if your grandpa had the habit of using anything in particular? Or, did he start taking sothing regularly at any point?"

Upon hearing Zhu Fei’s question, the slightly dazed Qiu Ruoxue quickly regained her composure.

She glanced at Zhu Fei a bit nervously, but after seeing the comforting look he gave her, she began to try hard to recall.

Truth be told, she was really scared right now. She was afraid that even Zhu Fei might not be able to save her grandfather.

However, after seeing the look Zhu Fei had just given her, her previously chaotic heart began to settle down a bit.

"Hmm, my grandfather’s health was not very good, so he seed to have soone make him so ginseng decoctions every day."

As she spoke, Qiu Ruoxue suddenly looked up at Song Yan beside her and added, "Uh, Grandpa Song, if I rember correctly, I think that prescription was given to my grandpa by you."

Hearing Qiu Ruoxue’s words, Zhu Fei and Song Yan exchanged a look, both revealing a bitter smile on their faces.

Eventually, it was Zhu Fei who shook his head and said, "Ruoxue, think carefully again. Old Song’s ginseng prescription for your grandpa was faultless, and it was even helpful for your grandpa’s health."

"So that cannot be the true cause of your grandpa’s poisoning. There must be sothing else; try to think back more carefully."

Hearing Zhu Fei’s explanation, Qiu Ruoxue completely let go of the slight suspicions she had about Song Yan.

She reflected carefully again and just as she was about to shake her head and say "I don’t know," a flash of inspiration struck her.

Her face imdiately tightened, and she said, "I rember now, I recall the nutritionist prescribed sothing for my grandpa to add to his als, sothing called Wu... Wu sothing, claiming it would be beneficial for his health..."

"Black Mysterious Grass!"

Before Qiu Ruoxue could finish her sentence, both Zhu Fei and Song Yan simultaneously called out the na of the dicinal ingredient.

Song Yan’s face turned extrely grim in an instant.

Now, even without Zhu Fei saying it, he knew the real reason why Mr. Qiu had ended up in the state he was in.

Black Mysterious Grass is a herb that nourishes qi and enriches blood and is also an extrely precious food ingredient.

If taken alone or added to food, it not only makes the food taste very delicious but also helps the human body regulate Qi and blood and replenish Primordial Qi.

One could say that even in the world of martial artists, Black Mysterious Grass was considered a very decent dicinal material.

However, this herb has a very obvious drawback: it absolutely must not be taken with ginseng or other similar dicinal substances.

Once ingested together, the mutual reaction of the two would produce toxins, which over ti could nearly cause soone to die suddenly.

Furthermore, this compound toxin is extrely hidden; even with the most advanced modern dical technology, it’s very difficult to detect the real source of the toxin.

Having realized these points, the normally gentle-faced Song Yan’s expression crossed with a trace of sharp killing intent for the first ti.

He suddenly shouted toward the hospital room door, "Soone, go imdiately and take control of Elder Qiu’s nutritionist!"
