Chapter 200: Chapter 200 : Flower Demons’ Lair (1)
The Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer closed her eyes and swallowed hard.
She had gone down a road of no return thanks to her poor choices. She now had the chance to get rid of the shackles of guilt that dragged behind her. The child’s soul was going to be saved, all for the price of a sight.
"I get it," she agreed begrudgingly. "Who is the person you seek to find? If I don’t know the person, I cannot help."
"No worries, you do know him," Xie Jianyu replied.
"Wait!" The woman cried out suddenly. "I cannot track the First Demon King for you! That is basically asking
to kill myself here and now!"
Xie Jianyu shook his head.
"Not the First Demon King but Liu Wenyuan, the oga you kidnapped before ."
The woman heaved a sigh of relief.
"Oh. Okay, I can do that one."
The three people went to sit in the Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer’s dilapidated living room.
There were only two chairs available.
Zhang Fengxi pulled Xie Jianyu to sit on one of them, while the Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer sat on the other one, opposite the Crown Prince.
The woman closed her eyes, her forehead wrinkled in full concentration.
On her forehead, her third eye ripped open and glowed like the sun. It cast a light on an empty wall behind Xie Jianyu, showing them the images they wanted to see.
A cloaked figure was seen in the projection. He was rushing through what seed to be a dense forest. From ti to ti, he turned around with a frightened expression, as if expecting soone -- or a group of people to catch up to him.
"Where is he?" Xie Jianyu asked.
The images suddenly turned blurry. The three people caught sight of several giant flowers of srizing colors that blood along the path, and then the projection stopped. The Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer groaned and closed her third eye.
"He just entered a dangerous territory. If I am not mistaken, it is one of the Flower Demons’ lairs. I can no longer see beyond that."
The Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer’s ability to spy around was limited by strong barriers, be it heavenly or demonic nature.
Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi exchanged grim looks.
More than two hundred years ago, demons who sneaked into the Human Realm thought that it would be interesting to plant so demonic flower seeds in the human soil.
These seeds grew into gigantic plants with big, attractive flowers that emitted fragrant and intoxicating slls, especially during the night.
The sll appealed exclusively to the male species, who then fell into the demonic flowers’ honey traps and paid with their lives.
After sucking out enough life forces, the demonic flowers evolved into Flower Demons.
They typically took the appearance of beautiful, alluring n and won who seduced careless wanderers into their poisonous, deathly embrace.
"I saw long, tall trees typical of the southern area. Is that true?" Zhang Fengxi asked.
The woman nodded.
"Enchanted Flower Forest, around two hundred lis* south of Willow Village."
"Not too far from here," Zhang Fengxi remarked. "If we go now, we might still make it."
"Thanks," Xie Jianyu said to the Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer. "As promised, I will take your child’s soul fragnts. Please put them into the lantern."
The woman opened her qiankun bag and murmured a spell. Faintly glowing wisps of soul rose from within the bag and entered the Soul Gathering Lantern.
A small fla was lit within the lantern, illuminating the dark room with the soul’s very weak life force.
The Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer could not help but spill her tears.
"Please take good care of my child’s soul," she said. "If you by any ans cheat ... I am going to make you regret until the end of your life."
Xie Jianyu slipped the lantern into his qiankun bag.
"I do not break my promise. You will be able to see this lantern hanging at one of Tree of Life’s branches soon."
Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi left the Ghost Island using the last Ghost Ship that sailed that night.
During the trip, both n were extrely quiet. Both of them were occupied with unknown thoughts.
As soon as they arrived back at the pier, Wangshu ca running at them with a loud neighing sound.
Xiao Huang, the small tiger cub, yowled loudly as he struggled to remain on the heavenly steed’s back.
Xie Jianyu took the reins of his horse while silently patting its side.
"Jianbao, is sothing wrong?"
Xie Jianyu raised his almond-shaped eyes and stared at Zhang Fengxi.
"Nothing."
"Jianbao, talk to ."
Zhang Fengxi put his arms around Xie Jianyu and hugged him from behind. When he was this close to the oga, he really could sll the latter’s sweet scent. It was stronger these days, probably because Xie Jianyu no longer inhaled the cursed incense.
Xie Jianyu wriggled out of Zhang Fengxi’s embrace.
"Zhang Fengxi."
"... Yes?"
Xie Jianyu took out the lantern and extended it in Zhang Fengxi’s direction.
"A trip to the Flower Demons’ lair is dangerous for alphas. I will go alone. You can go back to the Heavenly Realm and hang this lantern at the Tree Of Life."
Zhang Fengxi pushed Xie Jianyu’s hand away.
"Don’t be ridiculous. We will go together," he snapped.
"The Flower Demons do not have much influence on ogas," Xie Jianyu reminded his betrothed. "They might end up preying on you instead."
"Alpha or oga, you are still a man. I am going to follow you no matter what," Zhang Fengxi stubbornly insisted.
"Then... what if we both don’t go?" Xie Jianyu slowly asked. His gaze drilled into Zhang Fengxi’s face, looking for the slightest flicker of emotions. "What if we go back to Heavenly Realm now and ask for reinforcents to raid the Flower Demons’ lair?"
