When Yang Peiying returned to the store, she compensated the young man Hu Sheng with a al and also gave him an extra portion to take ho.

At first, Hu Sheng was reluctant to accept it, but seeing Yang Peiying busy herself off her feet the mont she entered the store and still coming over to serve him with embarrassnt, he thought it was unnecessary to make her feel awkward, so he accepted the offer, although he felt sowhat guilty about it.

He found her to be both hardworking and genuine, and she also had a pleasant appearance, embodying kindness and generosity.

After eating, Hu Sheng, feeling indebted for the al, ca over to help too.

Since the store was bustling at that ti, with a continuous stream of custors placing orders and paying, he couldn’t help with the cashier’s work, but he was capable of clearing dishes. He was accustod to labor at ho, handling his personal affairs cleanly and tidily, so a few dishes and utensils were nothing for him. He quickly got busy with skilled hands, so much so that the staff mistook him for a new employee.

It was only after Yang Peiying finished with the closing duties that she realized he had been helping her all afternoon. Instantly, she was extrely embarrassed, while Hu Sheng, not minding at all, casually walked away. Afterward, he often ca by to help, and he said that if she felt embarrassed, she could help nd his clothes to even things out. In this back-and-forth, the two gradually beca friends and then a couple.

It was Hu Sheng who first confessed his feelings. He had left his village alone and followed his master to the city seeking fortunes, working in a timber mill since he was sixteen, and now ten years had passed. Apart from his now-retired master, he had always been alone. He had managed to learn household chores he was once ignorant of, bit by bit. Though still lacking in so areas—like nding clothes, cooking delicious als, or speaking to soone about caring thoughts, especially soone he cared about—he thought of Yang Peiying.

Having such a person by his side.

After Hu Sheng confessed, Yang Peiying didn’t say a word and just ran back ho to consult with Yang Peimin.

Even though the current Yang Peiying could stand on her own, confident enough to speak in front of a hundred staff mbers, facing matters of the heart, she beca that insecure girl once again.

When Yang Peimin learned of this, she just asked Yang Peiying about her feelings for the man.

All of a sudden, Yang Peiying blushed and stamred without a clear reason.

Yang Peimin understood; this girl must have liked the guy.

If she liked him, then why not give it a try?

The family was already arranging blind dates for Yang Peiying, so if she could bring good news, they would definitely be happy for her.

Now with Yingzi managing two stores, she was considered successful in her career. All that was missing was a partner.

If love ca along, of course, she should seize the opportunity to explore it, with her family rely keeping a watchful eye from the side.

And so, Yang Peiying and Hu Sheng began dating, reported their romance to the family, and received their support.

After being together for six months, marriage was on the table.

This was because Hu Sheng’s factory was planning to allocate housing; he had enough years of service and could get a marriage house if he just showed a marriage certificate, which was certainly much better than the singles’ dormitory. Of course, he also felt that a wonderful girl like Yang Peiying should be brought ho sooner for peace of mind.

He disclosed to Yang Peiying all his savings and plans, showing her his sincerity.

He also ntioned that her current job was quite taxing, working late every night. He was determined to try harder and secure a supervisory position at the factory so Yang Peiying could switch to a lighter job.

Yang Peiying was astonished upon hearing this, and later found out that he had always thought she was just helping out in the kitchen. In her heart, she felt moved and admired his rare quality.

During the New Year, the two visited the Yang Family and after eting the parents, they set the date for the wedding to be held on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month.

Hu Sheng, who was practically an orphan, having lost his father early on and his mother remarried, grew up in his uncle’s ho under the disdainful gaze of his aunt. Later, he received sympathy from an elder in the village and followed a carpenter to learn the trade, eventually making his way to the city to make a living. Now, he had made a na for himself in the timber industry, to the satisfaction of the Yang Family.

Financial status and wealth weren’t of great importance to them. Zhang Minghua did worry about Yang Peiying’s temperant, concerned she might be oppressed by a formidable mother-in-law. But now, there was no need for that concern, and the couple could live their cosy life behind closed doors.

At this ti, Yang Peiying, knowing that Yang Peimin’s family was going to the capital, ca over to visit and chat, as a way to see them off.

Yang Peimin was already two months pregnant and had not yet reached the third month. Zhang Minghua had instructed not to travel far during this period, and Yang Peiying thoroughly followed Zhang Minghua’s advice.

Yang Peimin hurriedly welcod Yang Peiying and her husband in, "Co in, have you had dinner?"

Jin Sheng replied with a smile, "Yes, we ate at the store."

"Yingzi, we’re also traveling to the capital. Do you have anything you’d like us to bring for you?" Shen Yixiang asked while pouring water for Yingzi and Jin Sheng.

Yang Peiying shook her head with a smile, "There’s nothing to bring, really. These days, the Departnt Store has most things, no need for anything special."

Jin Sheng echoed his wife’s sentint.

Witnessing the harmonious couple, Yang Peimin felt happy.

She cut open the two cantaloupes that soone had sent and invited everyone to co around and eat.

The three children also gathered quickly, sitting in a well-behaved row beside the table.

Shen Yiyue teased Fanfan, who was next to her, "Fanfan, how many slices are you planning to eat?"

Fanfan thought carefully and extended five fingers, "Five slices."

"Wow, you have quite an appetite! What if we run out?"

Fanfan glanced at the people present and seed to realize that there wouldn’t be much left to go around, so he added, "Then just four slices, no less. I missed out on one bite of rice today; grandma said it fell on the floor and got dirty, so I couldn’t eat it. Now I’m really hungry," he said, wrinkling his little brow as if to act out his hunger.

Everyone burst into laughter at his antics.

"Oh my, I’m dying from laughter! This look of his, we should show it to his dad, see if it reminds him of his own childhood."

Fanfan, puzzled by the laughter, looked at everyone with a clueless expression on his face.

Then Shen Yiyue went to tease Lele, who, being a year older, was more perceptive, "I’ll just have two slices, so everyone can have so. If we run out, watching others eat would be too saddening."

Tuantuan also nodded in agreent, "Tuantuan will do the sa as brother, two slices are enough. My tummy can’t fit more."

With three adorable children around, the house was filled with bursts of laughter.

Jin Sheng looked at Yang Peiying’s belly and started to dream.

Shen Yiyue and Shen Yixiang were full of envy.

Shen Yiyue even said, "This really makes want to get pregnant too."
