Capítulo 478: Chapter 478: Going Ho
Days passed without much turbulence.
Soon, it was Chinese New Year again.
Shen Yiguang had completed a mission earlier than expected, so his leave to visit family ca a bit early this year.
The twins were also half a year old now, and Chen Guizhi felt that she hadn’t returned ho for two years. She missed everything about ho, so this year, everyone decided to go back together for the New Year.
Five adults looking after three children was more than enough, even though Lele, at one and a half, was still quite active.
The challenge was the amount of stuff to bring; the twins were only six months old, and whether it was diapers or formula, it all added up to quite a few bulky bags.
Yang Peimin planned to wash their diapers on the train if needed and then hang them to dry by the window because leaving them for two days would definitely create an unbearable sll.
Yingzi closed her shop in advance and decided to go back with everyone. Yang Peimin and she went to get their hair done together. Yingzi still refused to get curls, so Yang Peimin demonstrated by curling her own hair first. She persuaded Yingzi to try the sa style, claiming it would make her face look smaller even if she wore it down. The hairstyle looked good on Yingzi and did not affect her usual tied-up look, giving her a distinctive flair.
Yang Peimin was very satisfied with her own outco; a new hairstyle always lifted her mood.
Eventually, Yingzi was persuaded and ended up with the sa hairstyle, aiming not to stand out too much.
“Sister, do you think my hair looks better tied up directly or should I braid it?”
Yang Peimin had hardly any patience left, “Just comb all your hair up, tie half of it at the back of your head, and let those curls show.”
Yang Peiying tried it and liked it, although the curls at the back made her a bit uncomfortable.
“I wonder what the family and the villagers will think of it?”
Yang Peimin told her, “Who cares what they say? As a successful person now, you set your own trends. People will only complint, not gossip. And even if they do, it’s none of our business if it’s not to our faces, we aren’t doing anything illegal.”
Yang Peiying nodded, it seed to make sense.
Having run her restaurant for a year, Yang Peiying’s deanor had changed significantly; she spoke with confidence, making eye contact and flashing perfectly tid smiles. Her attentive expression was practiced, sothing Yang Peimin had helped her with for a long ti, mainly for interacting with custors.
The latter half of the year was busy for her. The four staff mbers were no longer sufficient, so she hired two more delivery people. Conflicts increased with the larger team, including so covert competitiveness.
A more experienced employee, who had co from a bigger restaurant and helped in the kitchen, buying supplies because of his expertise. Yang Peiying often preferred to listen to his suggestions. Gradually, he began to talk more, not just about his duties, but about everything in the restaurant, including the salary arrangents Yang Peiying made with other employees.
This employee thought Yang Peiying was overpaying less important staff mbers, although these salaries were competitive with other restaurants and benefits were much better. Yang Peiying saw nothing wrong with this and didn’t heed his opinion.
However, he always found ti to persuade her, and eventually, Yang Peiying began to think he might be making sense.
Fortunately, she discussed this with Yang Peimin before making any decisions. Yang Peimin felt that this employee was too controlling, trying to dictate how Yang Peiying ran things. They decided to keep him at a distance, gradually, and give him a few pointers. If he was wise, he would catch on; if not, and he continued to overstep, they couldn’t keep him, even though they would listen to his suggestions when it was about his direct responsibilities.
Initially, Yang Peiying felt bad about distancing herself or potentially firing him because he was essentially well-intentioned, just a bit too talkative.
Then one day, he unilaterally hired soone—he brought in a relative without consulting Yang Peiying.
That was when she made her decision. The staff levels were already sufficient; even soone as kind-hearted as Yang Peiying found this unacceptable. It was unclear whose restaurant it was anymore. Reluctantly, she fired the employee, which left her feeling uneasy for days because she felt bad about firing him.
Yang Peimin couldn’t help but feel both amused and sympathetic; understanding that Yang Peiying still had a lot of growing to do.
Everyone had been preparing for the trip ho for a long ti.
Yang Peiying herself took the initiative to pack, not needing reminders from Yang Peimin. In addition to her own clothing, skincare products, makeup, and footwear, she also prepared gifts for the family. She used her keen observation skills to decide what to bring, often doing a better job than Yang Peimin.
Yang Peimin thought they should bring only the essentials for use on the train and mail the rest, the cost of postage being of little concern.
Lele was thrilled to know they were traveling far.
He loved riding in vehicles, encouraged by Chen Guizhi, who had been telling him about returning to their hotown.
The twins, still unaware, had begun to recognize people, clinging especially to Yang Peimin, particularly Tuantuan.
The sound of footsteps or a voice was enough for him to identify Yang Peimin.
When he woke up, he would cry loudly, then stop imdiately when he heard Yang Peimin entering the room. If it was soone else, he continued crying until picked up, slowly stopping then.
