"Just chatting."
Elara Don composed her emotions, the fluctuating feelings gradually calming down.
If everything was just her imagination, she should still keep a distance from this man in the future.
Don’t cause any misunderstandings for others.
Elara Don poked at the rice in her bowl, glanced at the elegantly seated man, and mustered the courage to say, "Mr. Hawke, I just thought about it and think it’s better not to see Charlie."
No need to et after all.
Because she had already seen his photo!
Damon Hawke paused his eating, looked up at her, and slightly furrowed his brows.
"Not seeing him?"
"Yes."
Elara Don spoke, "Although I like Charlie a lot, you ntioned that he’s very unhappy right now. If I et him, give him hope only to let him down, it might increase his psychological burden and cause him issues. So, I think it’s better not to see him."
This was her genuine thought.
The child always wished for her to be his biological mother.
But she could never fulfill his wish.
It’s best not to give the child false hopes.
Damon Hawke looked steadily at Elara Don, noticing her serious expression, and felt a bit puzzled.
"Why the sudden change of mind? Did Cole Hawke say sothing to you?"
"No, this is my own conclusion."
Elara Don lowered her eyes slightly, denying it.
Damon Hawke squinted his dark eyes, looking deeply at her, silent for a mont.
Elara Don felt a bit unnerved by his stare and was about to get up and leave when a ssage ca in on her phone.
She glanced at it and saw that it was a ssage from Craig Landers.
She opened it; it contained all the information about Elena Soo.
Opposite, Damon Hawke watched her focused on her phone and casually asked.
"Who’s the ssage from? Your boyfriend?"
He couldn’t understand why she suddenly changed her mind.
But it wasn’t a big deal.
He wanted to know if her thoughts about her boyfriend would change!
"Yes, my boyfriend is asking if I’ve eaten."
Elara Don put the phone aside and replied casually.
"It seems your relationship is still good?"
"Yes."
"Are you planning to get married?"
"We are."
The woman answered without hesitation.
Damon Hawke’s lips curled slightly as he looked deeply at her, "Charlotte, are you telling the truth or lying?"
"Of course, it’s true, Mr. Hawke, I have no reason to lie to you."
Elara Don put down her chopsticks, "Mr. Hawke, I’m done eating, I’ll leave now."
She wasn’t lying to him.
As long as Thomas King passes her evaluation period, she would consider marrying him!
Watching Elara Don’s figure depart, Damon Hawke raised an eyebrow, feeling quite satisfied.
She said she would marry him.
He should have recorded what she just said!
The Rest Lounge of the Research Departnt.
Elena Soo received a hospital notice saying a famous cancer expert was coming to do a special interview, they were interested in her mother’s case, and her mother could have a free rehabilitation surgery, with future treatnt costs suitably reduced.
This was simply a miraculous fortune.
Elena Soo was overjoyed.
After a string of thank-yous, she hung up the call, almost bursting into tears of joy.
She had tried so many ways and even ventured down a dubious path for her mother’s treatnt costs.
But now, does she need to continue the previous unsavory route?
"Elena Soo."
A woman’s voice ca to her ear.
Elena Soo was startled and looked toward the person who ca in.
"Charlotte."
The joy in her heart faded, replaced by guilt and unease.
Just a few days ago, she did sothing unethical for her mother’s dical expenses.
"Do you have ti? Let’s chat."
Elara Don sat down, smiling at her.
"Alright."
Elena Soo nodded, sitting across from her, eyes downcast, not looking at her.
Elara Don organized her thoughts, "Elena, did you get the hospital notice? Has your mother’s rehabilitation surgery been scheduled?"
Craig Landers had already told her that Elena’s mother’s issues were resolved.
She needed to know what Elena was thinking now.
Elena Soo lifted her head sharply, "How do you know?"
"Because it was Mr. Landers who arranged it for you."
Elara Don spoke calmly.
Elena Soo’s complexion changed, fingers unconsciously tightening.
"Mr. Landers arranged it for ? So, you’ve been secretly helping , right?"
"Yes."
Elena Soo didn’t deny it, "Since the day we t at the bar, after you told about your family situation, we have been trying to see if we could help you, and finally, there’s a result. Elena, I’ve always considered you a friend."
Because they were friends, she wanted to give her a chance to be honest.
Hoping she could find her way back.
The woman’s face was pristine and ethereal, her eyes clear and serene.
Elena Soo looked steadily at her, eyes full of guilt.
She treated her as a friend.
But she felt undeserving of such a good friend!
"Charlotte, I have sothing to confess. I did sothing wrong. I..."
Elena Soo swallowed, took a deep breath, "I secretly sold your perfu formula to the Lane Corporation’s eldest daughter, lody Lane."
She finally admitted it!
Elara Don felt a weight lift from her heart, smiling, "I saw you eting with lody."
One sentence made Elena Soo surprised and flustered.
"So you saw?"
"Yes, I saw her give you money," Elara Don said honestly.
Elena Soo pursed her lips, "I’m sorry, Charlotte, I made that mistake in a mont of confusion."
Elara Don didn’t say anything, waiting for her to continue.
"You know, my mother’s illness requires a lot of money, and recently, a distant relative ca to saying they have a way to make quick money and asked if I wanted to do it."
Elena Soo continued, "For money, I said yes. Then lody t with , she wanted to steal your perfu formula, promising a large sum if I delivered it. I was muddled then and made the agreent with her."
Elara Don already knew all these details through Craig Landers.
She just wanted to give her a chance to co clean.
Because she could tell Elena wasn’t inherently malicious, she still wanted to regard her as a friend.
"So, you’ve already given the perfu formula to lody Lane?"
The Lane Corporation held a significant presence in Sea City.
They also had a luxury goods segnt.
lody did this to be at odds with her, trying to ruin her reputation!
"Yes, I’ve already given the perfu formula to lody,"
Elena Soo bit her lip, face full of guilt, "But I slightly altered the formula, what I gave wasn’t your original formula, but a version with my insights."
She still had a conscience.
Charlotte had helped her, no matter how much she needed money, she didn’t want this woman to be ruined.
She modified the formula to temporarily appease lody.
Should things co to light, she was prepared to exit the perfu industry.
"Oh? So, if the Lane Corporation’s perfu hits the market, would the chief perfur actually be you, Elena?"
Elara Don chuckled, "Elena, which company’s perfur are you really?"
