Chapter 43: Round two
Alex was still unaware of Silver’s presence and focused on the energy surging through his body. He could feel sothing but it was too small to tell! The beast core of a D-rated creature may have brought many benefits but they are too little to show. For him to tell what it actually does, Alex estimated he would need at least ten or more of these beast cores for it to show.
His eyes slowly opened and he saw Silver staring at him as if he has seen a ghost but Alex didn’t let it get to him. He dropped the core that had lost its color and picked up his burger before stuffing his mouth with it.
“No explanation? Nothing? Just like that?” Silver asked with a stern look on his face but Alex simply shrugged his shoulder in response.
“If I knew what it is I would tell you... I guess I can absorb the energy within the beast cores” Alex said calmly and Silver frowned.
“In case you don’t know... People cannot absorb the energy within beast cores... People don’t do that!” Silver responded harshly but Alex wasn’t moved, he just nodded in agreent.
“I think it has to do with my artificial ability... Absorbing this energy felt similar to how it feels when I use the ability... Since your people created this ability I should be the one, pissed and asking the questions, but you don’t see bitching about it” Alex said calmly.
Hearing this, Silver was slightly embarrassed and wanted to say more but then he noticed the small scratches and cuts on Alex’s body were gone. His heart skipped a beat when he noticed Alex, taking off the bandages on his hand and tossing away the wood tied to it to keep it in check.
.....
“What the hell are you doing?” Silver asked hastily.
“Chill... Sohow this stuff healed my wounds” Alex said calmly, making Silver frown.
“It healed your broken arm? That’s quite significant...” Silver said.
“Not really...” Alex replied. The energy from the beast core simply pushed his dislocated bone back in place but his left hand still felt extrely weak and painful.
Alex kept eating while Silver pondered on what just happened. The duo remained silent but then they heard footsteps.
Thud!
Thud!
Thud!
They were faint but they could still be heard since the house was made of wood and it was old. Silver wasted no ti as so sort of liquid white thing spread across his body, forming so sort of battle suit almost no different from an exoskeleton. Alex on the other hand remained calm while eating and gazing at the only entrance in the room.
Bang!
The door burst open and a hunter in a black cloak entered with his spear in his hand. His eyes were cold as he gazed at the two younglings who dare steal from him. Even if the beast core wasn’t stolen, there is no way he would let Alex and Silver leave this place alive especially since they are from wealthy backgrounds. Should news of his actions reach their ears, a D-rated hunter like him would be executed without a second thought!
“You thought you could get away?” The man has a deep voice which would make any normal person shudder but then Silver and Alex didn’t look moved.
“You saved the trouble of coming to find you... I must thank you for that” Alex said after he emptied his cola drink and got on his feet, walking towards the enemy at the door.
The room may be ssed up and littered with trash, old furniture, and rubbles but it was quite spacey. Alex concluded this would be the best place to fight this man.
“Your arm?” The man was surprised to see Alex’s broken arm was completely healed now.
His eyes instinctively darted towards the table Alex was sitting on earlier. There he saw the beast gem but this one has lost all of its colors.
“What happened?” The man asked with knitted eyebrows.
“Why would I talk to a dead man!” Alex’s eyes revealed his killing intentions as he charged forward.
If it were when he was injured he would be reluctant to fight this man but now he has recovered to an extent he refused to believe he is inferior to a D-rated hunter nobody!
Bam!
Alex stepped on the couch and leaped into the air, charging towards the enemy at the sa ti Silver pulled out his laser handgun and fired twice.
Bang!
Bang!
The enemy did not hesitate to dive to the side in a bid to evade the attacks. He quickly jumped to his feet and quickly struck at Alex with his spear!
Peng!
By this ti, Alex had already reached the ground, and without being given much ti to recover he saw a spear flying at him. In such a position his eyes lit up as he used the second form of his demon-kin technique to predict the trajectory of the attack while his skin darkened at the sa ti. Using the bronze arm he managed to push the spear AAA before throwing a deadly blow at the enemy without hesitation!
Thud!
Thud!
The hunter practically stood on his toes and made a movent similar to a side spin, with his spear swinging at Alex’s skull ruthlessly.
Bang!
Alex had no intentions of dodging as he raised his left hand to block the spell attack with his bronze skin before following up punch to the enemy’s chest!
Bang!
His punch connected but he also felt the pain on his left wrist which felt sore by now. He watched the enemy stagger back not even then he didn’t let go of his spear, making Alex frown.
Bang!
Bang!
Alex followed up with two quick jabs but the enemy retreated while using the spear to block the attacks. With each hit delivered, Alex could feel his fists go numb. He was stunned by the fact that a re wolf-level beast gear is too strong for him to break. He could tell if he goes all out, he will only end up hurting himself
