The day was far from over, and with each of them holding the wish-granting potion in their hands, the lure of its effects, its power, encroached on their curiosity. Taking so ti away from the inn and each other, each was scattered throughout the village trying to unwind from the stress of the day, along with the events of the recent weeks.
Sitting by herself in a secluded corner of the only park that edged the open holt, Audrey admired the potion’s glass as it glittered before her. In her hand, it seed so small, and yet its powers were imnse. If only there were so way to discard the negative effects and only take the positive, she would’ve taken it in exchange for a more mature body, perhaps for strength, or perhaps for sothing else.
In the end, however, she put it back in her pocket and tried to forget that she even had it. Charlotte, on the other hand, wasn’t as forgetful, for she had more than one problem to deal with, one of which just so happened to be her age. Her kind did not live long, even less than most humans. And being already thirty wasn’t a good sign, not when her life could end in the next few decades.
’A few more years. Maybe I can ask for a longer life?’ The thought was more tempting than bear to honey, but what would be the downside? What was it that she least needed at the mont? ’So sort of burden, maybe? What if it makes the rest of my longer life hell? There were as many ups as there were downs to the theory, but in none did she feel comforted, for already one of the effects from the dungeon was making them reach for strange lengths to do what others could do easily. Leveling up, it was supposed to be an automatic process, but all that has changed, and what else could the dungeon change? With such thought, Charlotte knew that she couldn’t take that risk.
’Ti for evening nap. I will think about this later.’ Lying down in her room, she quickly slipped into slumber, leaving Roxanne and Rudy as the only ones still struggling with the lure of the potion.
Sitting by the reception counter of the inn, Roxanne was especially quite confused. On one hand, the potion could give them power; on the other, it was utterly useless, and if broken by mistake, the warden would block their path forward regardless. At so point, they might have to absorb its essence, whether they like it or not, so why not try to find a way through which they could benefit from the good and neutralize the bad? Much like how their chastity was helping them take advantage of an otherwise crippling passive ability.
But more than that, what had her confused was the nature of the ability she wanted from the boon.
"Maybe a stat boost? That sounds like a good bet," placing the bottle back in her pocket beside Rudy’s bottle, she took a deep breath. "Don’t know why he gave it to . Now I have to keep two of them safe instead of one."
Unaware of where she was currently, Rudy had once again slipped into the greenhorn market. But this ti, he had a far more reasonable goal in his head. Which was to find so way to get himself off and gain the benefit of defeating that giant spider. Audrey, for sure, would’ve helped him for free, but the problem with her? He felt too nervous around her to go through with everything.

The thought was surely tempting, and what could the potion even do to him to make him more miserable? He was down on his luck with the spiked ground to his feet already. What worse could happen, or so he thought, but eventually even he saw the light of reasoning.
’It’s stupid to use that thing. This temptation is why I left it with Roxanne in the first place. If Audrey knew what I’m thinking she probably would encourage to go ahead with it, so it’s best left with her.’
With all minds aligned in thought, the potions will go unused. Such was to be the case, but fate had other plans–plans outside the party itself, but the potion would be used, and that too tonight itself!
