Gao Xin and Kerry were strolling through the black market, continuing to gather information.
Kerry had been on the island for two years now, and like him, had beco a slave upon arrival.
However, Kerry was already a Radiation before he arrived at the island, so it wasn’t as bad as it was for ordinary people.
He was directly recruited into a gang of enforcers and received special training.
Being a foreigner only ant that one would be treated worse within the yakuza.
"I hadn’t expected you had been with the yakuza too..." Gao Xin remarked, "How did you break free from them?"
Kerry shrugged, "I was bought by my forr gang leader."
"The yakuza is a typical ’ethnic gang’. Their hitn are almost exclusively Japanese, unless you’re an exceptionally powerful character and can guarantee absolute loyalty."
"Thus, as a foreign enforcer like myself, unless you act like a dog and desperately gain the trust of the yakuza, you’d spend your whole life as an enforcer, never rising through the ranks, no matter how skilled you beco."
"After cultivating for a while, everyone gets listed in the talent market for other factions to choose from."
Gao Xin’s eyes lit up, so getting people out of the yakuza’s grip was actually that simple.
"Isn’t the yakuza afraid that these other powers, after gaining talent, will turn against them?"
Loathing flashed in Kerry’s eyes, "That’s why the yakuza conducts periodic internal purges in Yamaguchi Village."
"They target the organizations that rise too quickly and resist their control, looking for any pretext to strike..."
Gao Xin was taken aback, so that was it.
He rembered in the ga, wearing the Red Oni’s costu, he was instinctively loathed by all the Radiations...
Fatty held a murderous grudge against him and started a brawl on the spot.
One could imagine how many smaller organizations the yakuza had destroyed.
The hatred in Kerry’s eyes subsided as he sighed, "Originally, one of their hitn looked for trouble, claiming that our people stole his stuff and demanded a huge compensation from our leader."
"If we had paid, we would have suffered heavy losses, but it would have bought us quite a long ti to breathe."
"Actually, we used to just pay in such situations, knowing that the yakuza weakened us this way."
"But that ti, our leader chose to fight back, killed the hitman, and that brought the annihilation upon our gang."
"Over a thousand of us, so died, others fled, and because I was not strong enough to have beco a hitman yet, I sohow survived and beca a lone wolf."
Gao Xin pondered, hitn represented the core force of a power, the true official mbers, while others were just nobodies.
To eradicate a gang, one must surely get a handle on the list of hitn.
If Kerry had beco a hitman back then, the yakuza would not have let him go; they would have hunted him down relentlessly.
Every day on this island, new powers erge and old ones perish, and lone wolves are probably created just like that.
Every lone wolf was once part of a power, at the very least a hitman.
As for a glass man slave like himself becoming a Radiation on his own, that was even rarer; Gao Xin only knew of one, Silver Hand.
"Why choose to stand your ground?" Gao Xin asked, puzzled.
Kerry reminisced, "I was an outsider, so I’m not very clear on how the higher-ups decided."
"But now that I think about it, it must have had sothing to do with the Lin Clan Village. After all, without another big power backing us, we would never dare to confront the yakuza head on."
"And when we battled the yakuza, several other gangs in the village acted as well, and the Lin Clan Village attacked Yamaguchi Village at the sa ti."
"So I suspect, we beca pawns in a struggle between big powers."
Gao Xin nodded, it seed obvious now.
"The yakuza is that strong? Facing rebellions from several gangs within Yamaguchi Village and an invasion from the Lin Clan Village, they still held their ground?"
With a raised eyebrow, Kerry said, "I’m not sure about the details, but I’ve heard... the Lin Clan Village was about to break through when a Japanese person ca from the sea, and as soon as they saw him, they retreated."
"What?" Gao Xin was astonished. A reinforcent arrived, and the Lin Clan Village withdrew?
Wasn’t that a betrayal to all the rebelling factions within the village?
"Who was this person?"
Kerry exhaled, "Who else could it be? This guy is the biggest backer for all the Japanese, Fujihara Tomohiro."
"He’s not with the yakuza, but with Sea King Port. The entire Yamato territory is just a district under the rule of Sea King Port."
"His appearance alone scared off the Lin Clan Village."
Gao Xin recalled, this man was Silver Hand’s sworn enemy.
So powerful and with such a vast influence?
But Gao Xin shook his head, "It couldn’t have been out of fear, everyone knows this guy is the Japanese’s backer, could the Lin Clan Village have not considered him?"
"If they had besieged Fujihara Tomohiro and then left with heavy losses, I’d believe they were unprepared."
"But they retreated as soon as they saw Fujihara Tomohiro, which to , suggests the retreat was part of the plan from the beginning."
"Their strategic goal from the start was just to weaken the yakuza, and your gang was nothing but a pawn."
Upon hearing this, Kerry also ca to an understanding.
His eyes widened before he regained his composure.
"Screw it, what does the struggle of those big shots have to do with ?"
"I live my humble life; it might not be glorious, but I can still be quite happy."
"Let’s not talk about it anymore, we’re here."
As they chatted, the two arrived in front of a clinic-like shop.
Compared to other stalls or ramshackle storefronts, this shop was noticeably cleaner and more imposing.
