"Yes, I’m sorry, Leader... I’m sorry, Sister Taylor, I just couldn’t help but ask," Xiaoyan said, bowing her head as she stood up to leave with her sisters.
Just then, Gao Xin suddenly started breathing violently: "Eat... hiss..."
He emitted a faint sigh from his throat, trying to speak, but only a hissing sound ca out.
"What are you trying to say?" Xiaoyan imdiately returned, rushing to Gao Xin’s side to listen.
"Eat..."
"Do you want to eat sothing?" Xiaoyan didn’t know whether he was just exhaling hisses or asking for food...
Taylor, with her high ponytail, frowned, "What can he eat in this condition? He could choke on water; you might as well use a sword."
As she spoke, she took a sword from one of her sisters and handed it to Xiaoyan.
"Kill him, Xiaoyan, put an end to his suffering."
Xiaoyan was shocked, stamring, "I... I, I’ve never killed anyone."
Taylor solemnly said, "Who’s killed before? Before I ca to the island, I wouldn’t even dare to kill a chicken. Weren’t we all forced into this situation?"
"You’ve been on the island for a month now, just right for encountering a dying person in such pain; use him to toughen yourself up."
Xiaoyan took the sword, while her sisters watched, so afraid, others encouraging.
But she hesitated to strike, especially when seeing Gao Xin’s difficult, hair-raising gasps, the reluctance making her hands tremble.
Seeing her reluctance, the female leader said, "Forget it, killing soone who can’t fight back, whom we don’t even know, what’s the point? We’ll talk about it next ti."
Xiaoyan, as if granted amnesty, breathed a sigh of relief and laid down the sword.
However, Taylor reproached, "Leader! You’re too protective of them! In our band of over fifty won, everyone has struggled to fill their stomachs. Can they always rely on your protection for survival?"
The female leader sighed, "Don’t we still have a few of you? Right now, without the gene protector, they can’t beco Radiation..."
Taylor sternly said, "Just a few of us is not enough!"
"Even if they can’t beco Radiation, they should always be ready! Xiaoyan, don’t you want to share the leader’s worries and protect your sisters?"
"I... I do." Tears sparkled in Xiaoyan’s eyes as she lifted the sword again.
She aid at Gao Xin’s heart, lifting the sword with both hands.
Taking a deep breath, she continuously tried to control her shaking hands.
Suddenly, a flash of light passed, she closed her eyes tightly, and violently brought down the sword!
Splurt! The sword pierced through the torso, and Gao Xin grew still.
"Boom!"
Soon after the flash, a rumbling thunder sounded, revealing it was indeed lightning that flashed earlier.
"Well done..." Taylor was sowhat relieved and hugged her.
The female leader also smiled faintly, seeing Xiaoyan dazedly staring at Gao Xin, she consoled, "Alright, you’ve taken the first step; that’s enough for today."
"A thunderstorm is coming, pull out the sword, let’s go."
The sisters left, and Xiaoyan remained standing till the end, not daring to pull out the sword.
The female leader looked back, "Leave it if you can’t pull it out, it’s just an ordinary iron sword, let’s go."
Xiaoyan bowed her head and left. A band of wandering won without a territory, ca and went, nothing changed.
Instead, to end Gao Xin’s suffering, she stabbed him with a sword!
"Hiss..." Gao Xin suddenly exhaled a breath of turbid air and then struggled to breathe.
He was not dead!
"Beauty... your sword is skewed..."
Gao Xin murmured inwardly, that recent lightning had startled Xiaoyan, who in her haste, had missed his heart.
"I don’t need gold anymore... give sothing else to eat, even water will do..."
Gao Xin felt helpless, but everyone had already left, and he could make no sound.
He had really reached his limit; enduring that stab had made his breathing even more difficult. After a period of oxygen deprivation, his consciousness was now blurry, and his mind unclear.
His internal organs were severely ruptured, his skin extensively necrotic, and his muscles majorly dissolved. The scanty amount of blood left was insufficient to support his body; every bit of energy was supplying his brain.
But brain cells, like sand slipping through fingers, continuously ebbed away, like a countdown tir.
Gao Xin was entirely dependent on Heart Power to keep his last spark of life, but using Heart Power itself clouded his mind.
He wanted to sleep, he really wanted to sleep.
This was an unprecedented mont of being close to death; he was truly about to die.
"Tick... Tock..."
But suddenly, small water droplets fell on his face, followed by one drop after another...
A continuous heavy rain poured down, washing through the forest and cleansing Gao Xin’s entire body.
He jerked alert, gathering his last bits of consciousness.
"Water... it’s rain! Right, the storm... and the thunder earlier..."
"Right, thunder!"
"Lightning, just missing the lightning! I’ve got it, just missing the lightning!"
He suddenly widened his eyes, glaring at the sky, raindrops falling on his pupils, yet he couldn’t close his eyes!
"Strike ! Strike ! I need you, lightning!"
Gao Xin roared internally, yet thunder flashed several tis across the sky, dancing like silver snakes among the dark clouds, but refused to strike him.
Indeed, the fact that lightning strikes a person on the ground is a low probability event.
Even though he lay under a tree, this was not easy to happen, especially during crucial monts when luck wasn’t on his side...
Gao Xin felt his consciousness blurring gradually; he could no longer see anything, rapidly descending into darkness.
"Strike ! Damn it, strike ! Fate decrees... fate decrees... no... I decree over fate! I decree over fate!"
Gao Xin’s last ntal burst roared, but the heavy reality of gravity was too overwhelming.
His consciousness, like falling into an abyss, completely subrged in darkness.
And so, Gao Xin took his last breath, and his heart ceased its faint beating.
Only his eyes were still wide open, refusing to close.
