’This is a good sign. I don’t have to fear my brother again!’ Alice thought happily as she prepared the files for the eting she was about to attend.
If she had known that Briar was that easy to talk to and wasn’t as difficult as she thought, she wouldn’t have wasted her ti all these years.
A simple sit down and a chat would have solved all matters between them. Thankfully, Briar didn’t seem to harbor any grudges and all the grievances from the past had been dealt with.
Ding.
Just as she was about to carry her files to leave for the conference room, her phone received a ssage.
As a businesswoman, ssages weren’t to be ignored as ignoring them might result in losses. What if it’s a major client who was calling or texting?
Carrying that kind of mind all the ti, Alice fished her phone from her pocket to take a quick look.
When she swiped the screen, doubt flashed across her eyes as she saw that she had received a ssage from Briar.
Did she perhaps forget sothing?
They just parted monts ago.
Alice, unsure of what was going on and why Briar would ssage her, still checked the ssage. It might be important, after all.
However, she wasn’t prepared for what was waiting for her once the ssage was opened.
"A video!" she exclaid surprisingly, now curious to see what her sister-in-law had prepared for her.
However, considering the fact that there was a eting to go to, she decided to check it later when she had ti.
Alice left the office and headed for the conference room where she found the people she was having a eting with already seated.
As soon as she was in the room, the eting started and it lasted for two hours.
By the ti she left the conference room, she and the people she was eting were all smiling after coming to an agreent.
With another deal signed, she was in a good mood. She couldn’t wait to celebrate later.
Alice returned to her office, that video still in her mind.
Once she was inside, she put on her earbuds and clicked on the video, ready to see what kind of joke Briar had sent. It was normal for friends to send each other such videos. She used to do so with Anna. Unfortunately, that girl was just a rotten egg. Too bad, she left for overseas before she could do anything.
Eager to watch the video, Alice clicked on it and watched for several seconds before she froze. However, just because she was frozen didn’t an that the video would stop playing, in fact, it continued playing and the more she watched, the angrier she beca.
Alice’s fingers failed to move to press the pause button. She watched angrily, as a familiar man, a man she loved with all her heart, was ssing around with several won.
The man who pursued her with difficulty and promised her the moon and stars. What didn’t she do for him all these years?
They were engaged for crying out loud and yet he wasn’t satisfied with her?
She was the CEO of such a huge corporation and yet he dared to ss around with so hussies with nothing but baked makeup all over their faces?
He dared to slander her na repeatedly with those hussies while spending her money. Wasn’t it for him to be where he was right now because of her?
She invested in him, promoted him to her family and even spoke good words to them. Only then did her family agree to let them engage. After getting the benefits of being the yers’ son-in-law, he started ssing around. How could he do this to her?
Alice was so angry that she slamd the desk angrily, making the items on the desk scatter.
When the video ended, Alice closed her eyes as she took deep breaths, trying to suppress her anger at this mont. All she wanted to do was lash out, find that son of a gun and deal with him seriously. However, she understood that haste makes waste. Without looking into the matter seriously, and confirming whether it was true or not, she might end up suffering a loss.
Besides, the source of this video was suspicious. Briar didn’t have any connections, so where did she get the video?
Was she perhaps dissatisfied with her and trying to ss her up?
Her head was all ssed up. She couldn’t think straight.
She was in a state of disarray for a while, and after so thought, she decided to do one thing; confront soone.
Without wasting ti, she picked up her phone and called.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
[Hello,] after several rings, a familiar voice answered.
Alice clenched her fists, as her teeth were gritted, and the veins on her hands popped. Anyone could tell that she was in a bad mood, very pissed off but doing her best to hold herself.
"Briar, can you tell what’s going on?" she asked in a low toff, one, suppressing the urge to burst.
[It’s as you see. That bastard had been cheating on you for a very long ti,] ca Briar’s flat response.
"You .... If that’s true, why are you telling that, right now?" Alice asked angrily, after hearing Briar’s response.
She just couldn’t understand why she would keep such a thing from her. This had been going on for a long ti. How could she just watch?
However, Briar’s response choked her.
[How can you even ask such a question? Have you forgotten that we had just started talking today seriously? We were enemies, so why should I do you such a favor?]
"You_"
[You were plotting against and so was I. Anyway, now that we have buried the hatch, we are now family. You losing face is equivalent to losing face as well. So, I decided to let you know. If you don’t trust , then have your people look into the matter.]
