Chapter 98: 98. Joker.

Now, prior to this, if Duke hadn’t told

all about his adventure on that particular trip and how she had tried to seduce him, knowing , I might actually be worried. If he hadn’t told

he had tossed that particular coat in the trash at the airport before coming ho to

because he didn’t want to sll like her, I would have been over thinking everything right now and wondering what might and might not have happened between them.

However, this is why communication matters a lot between couples. I wish so of all those comics I read online would learn from my marriage with Duke and try better to communicate to avoid so very unnecessary misunderstanding.

Because right now, I’m sure what Alicia was planning was to sow seeds of doubt in my heart. Knowing her, she must have believed in her head that Duke would not tell

about eting her in that state.

And that’s where she went wrong.

My dearest husband told

everything, and compared to a lying scheming Alicia and a doting loving husband, who would I believe?

That’s not even a question.

I can feel his hand still stroking my thigh without a single change of motion. His fingers didn’t tighten or stiffen, the pattern and pace of his stroking is also still the sa, that ans he’s also confident without any form of worry because he trusts I won’t get shaken up by sothing so foolish.

I won’t disappoint him.

"Oh my that coat looks rather familiar." I say.

"Indeed it does." Duke responds and I see a sort of twitch on Alicia’s face. She’s obviously not getting the reaction she expected from either one of us.

"Y_Yes of course it is familiar. It belongs to you. You left it behind the last ti we t." She’s speaking louder now. This woman never changes. Since the music playing isn’t so heavy and loud, if she tunes her voice to the right pitch, those seated in tables around us will hear her words.

She wants it to sound like she’s having so kind of affair with Duke. She wants people to hear her and start thinking whatever they want the the information she’s dropped.

"You an in W state last month?" I ask. I can at least indulge her.

"Yes. He left it behind and as you know, Duke—" She blushes and giggles bashfully, "I an Mr Grand is a hard man to get in touch with, so I haven’t been able to return it to you since."

Oh her acting is on another level.

"Duke," I call his na in a rather calm manner.

"Yes dearest?" He replies with that sinful hand on my thigh still drawing sweet Possessive lines.

"Shouldn’t that coat be sowhere in so trash bin at the airport?" I ask while looking straight at Alicia whose expression tells

that I was absolutely right. She must have believed Duke wouldn’t have told

about his encounter with her on his trip. Sorry, not so sorry to burst your bubble cousin, but you’re not winning this one

"From what I rember, yes, it should be, seeing that I tossed it in the bin myself."

Now I can hear people whispering while they wine and dine at what is supposed to be my dear aunt’s birthday celebration.

"Woah, does that an Alicia is lying?"

"Why would she lie?"

"Well why else? She’s clearly jealous now that champagne has such a man by her side."

"Are you insinuating that Alicia is trying to take her cousin’s man?"

"Well will you call it insinuating from what you’ve seen and heard so far?"

"But if he says he left it in a trash bin sowhere, how does she have it then?"

"Do you think he is lying?"

"Honestly, I think he’s lying. Handso n like him can lie without blinking."

"And the sa goes for beautiful won like Alicia. I honestly think she’s been trying to flirt with the man since he walked into this room. I an look at what she’s wearing, she’s literally been pushing her breasts in front of the man since she sat down."

Yes! I like this. The debateful whispers going on between those around who can hear us. It’s so much fun to listen to

"A_are you saying I’m lying?" She grits her teeth and damn she still looks beautiful even with that nasty frown on her face. "Why would I lie about that?!" She asks.

"Not necessarily lying," I wave my hand in the air as I cross one leg over the other, holding Duke’s hand there between my thighs.

I want to see his expression right now but, let’s wait a little. "I’m only suggesting that soone might have gone searching through the trash like a hungry rat."

"Champagne!!" She bangs the table, and as she screams my na and rises to her feet in fury finally drawing all the attention in the room towards us. Brilliant Alicia, just brilliant, let everyone hear you and I will humiliate you in the end.

I finally turn to stare at Duke who has been trying to remove his hand that I’ve trapped between my legs and as expected, he still has that composed look on his face, but I can see it. He’s not composed at all. His ears are burning red.

He’s the one who was teasing

first.

"How could you say such a thing?!" Yes, keep raising your voice dear cousin. Let everyone hear you loud and clear.

"Duke— I an, Mr Grand," she keeps acting as though she’s calling his na by mistake. But I know she’s only trying to make it sound like she’s close enough to call Duke by his na which will raise so more whispers as to how she beca so close to him to address him by his na.

"Mr Grand gave

that coat on the plane when we were returning back from W state! We t at the conference and—" while she’s blabbing more lies about how Duke lent her the coat because she was feeling cold on the plane, Duke finally manages to slip his hand out of my thighs but I instantly grab that big palm and place it back on my thigh. I cross my legs once more, trapping his hand there again and I can understand all his thoughts without even hearing him speak a single word just by the way he’s staring at .

Like he’s silently begging

to release him.

Why would I? I like his hand just where it is, so I just give him a charming smile.

"Alicia," her mother tries calling her to order, but our dear Alicia is so deeply lost in her role to play the victim.

"No! I don’t like how she’s making

sound wrong or like I’m a liar." Now people are whispering even louder because everyone in the hall is now really staring at us.

"She’s making it sound like I’m going after her husband or sothing!" Go on.

"What is going on there?"

"Is champagne accusing Alicia of having sothing with her husband?"

"Why would Champagne do sothing like that to soone as sweet as Alicia?"

"Alivia would never try to steal her cousin’s man, I an she is so beautiful she could have any man she wants. Does Champagne really think her bus band is that special?"

"Well, I’m not gonna lie, he is worth stealing. I won’t bla Alicia if she tried to take that one away."

"And I’m saying the truth, he gave

his coat on the plane and I just wanted to return it to him," Oh you sweet liar.

"Ah, so he just helped her like a normal gentle man would, Why is Champagne reading too much aning into it?"

"I didn’t know he’d treat

like this." Oh the tears. The fake tears.

"Mr Grand, I know you’re saying these things in front of your wife because you don’t want her to think there is anything between us, but if you didn’t want her to find out about us, you should have told

just that, then I would have privately co to return your coat! I didn’t realize you didn’t want her to find out about us!"

HAh!

She says us! She’s such a joker. And the best actress award goes to—

Duke does not even seem like he is listening to a thing she’s saying. He’s staring at her, but I don’t think he’s listening to a word she’s saying. Rather his mind seems to be on that hand lost in my thighs.

"So according to you," I finally speak but then Duke’s hand in my thigh tightens and I pause and stare at him, he wants to talk? By all ans my love, take over.

"You say ’find out about us’," so he was listening, but wait, why is his hand suddenly going higher and further into my skirt. How is he even moving it?! I thought I was holding him tight with my thighs.
