Chapter 97: 97. Sothing Mr Grand left behind

Turns out for the first ti, I’m sitting with my aunt at the sa table in a party organized by her. Wow, who would have thought.

"Duke, was it? I hope it’s okay if I call you by na." She says as wine is being poured into the glass in front of both of us.

"Actually it is not. I’d appreciate it if you addressed

as Mr Grand." I don’t know if I should call Duke petty or perfect. I an he’s being picky about everything and yet I like the way he’s acting, showing them that he doesn’t require any form of closeness with both mother and daughter.

"I see." I can see my aunt trying her best to keep that smile on her face. "Well then, Mr Grand, I’m glad you could make it to my party, although you missed a lot since you both ca late. Alicia has told

so much about you and it made

quite curious to et you."

"Has your curiosity been satisfied?" Duke asks.

"So." She replies. "Why did you marry my niece so quickly?" I knew she was curious about that but I didn’t expect her to ask the question straight up without any filter.

"I’m certain you know she had just co out of a divorce. What made you marry a woman whom you just t so quickly?"

"I fail to see how my reasons for marrying my wife are any of your concerns," He says and I snicker, almost spilling the wine in my mouth. This man is going to make

choke on laughter tonight, "but since it is your birthday, I will indulge you."

Her smile, I can see, is slowly fading. That mask that she wears is slowly ripping apart.

"What other reason would a man marry a woman for if not love?" As the word ’love’ leaves his lips he stares at

by his side and gives

a quick smile before turning to aunt Evelyn again with that straight face. "I saw her, I loved her, I proposed, she said yes, and I married her. It’s as simple as it gets. I believed a smart woman like you would be able to deduce that fact just by looking at us from afar, was I wrong?"

He indirectly just called her an unsmart woman, didn’t he? I think aunt Evelyn also got the insult because she’s staring at Duke without a smile on her face. I can almost hear her grating her teeth.

"Wow, I’m so glad my niece found a man as handso as you." She finally places the smile back on her face. "I was worried that no one would take her, you know, considering one of the many reasons why her previous husband divorced her was because she wasn’t giving it right." What is she saying?

"Pardon?"

"Oh, I was going to talk to you separately and beg you to try and enjoy it even though you’re not because it would ruin her reputation if she divorces again."

"Aunt Evelyn, what are you talking about?" I’m deeply confused. What the heck is she suddenly talking about?

"Oh honey, I know you didn’t want

to know but Rowan had co to

privately and explained to

that he wasn’t really enjoying it with you,"

"What?" What the heck is she seriously talking about?

"It’s fine, it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Many won have the sa problem, you’re not the first woman who isn’t tight enough down there. Rowan just ca to

as the mother figure in your life and explained to

that he could not continue faking or acting like he was enjoying it with you anymore and that was one of the reasons he was divorcing you."

"What?!" She’s lying! I know she’s lying but her words are getting to my head. She’s doing it again, ssing with .

"I begged him not to divorce you, but he just couldn’t take it anymore and that’s why I was worried that your new husband must be facing the sa predicant. He must be faking it when in actually he isn’t. But sewing how he declares his love for you shows

that he is different from Rowan. He won’t leave you because of sothing like that and—"

C_could it be true? I know it’s a lie but could it be true? She’s just saying all these things to rile

up. Or to just quench my happiness. She’s saying these things tk break

but what if truly, D_duke has been faking it? What if I’ve not been satisfying him and—

"Pagne," I look up as the familiar voice calls

in a familiar na and as I’m lifting my lashes to stare at him, his lips are falling over mine and my eyes have fallen close. We shouldn’t be doing this.

Not while sitting in front of aunt Evelyn and her husband. Not in the midst of all these people, but now that his tongue is delving deeper and deeper into my mouth, I realize I don’t care when, why or how, but I’m always ready to accept his kisses. The way I’m kissing him back hungrily proves that I want him anywhere anyti.

All those negative thoughts have quickly lted, and all I can hear is the music playing in the background, our lips entwining again and again, soft moans escaping my mouth as I’m seriously getting aroused and the distant gasps of people probably watching us as we kiss.

"Should we go ho and continue, dearest?" He breathes over my lips and I can’t help but silently smile gratefully, because I see what he just did with the kiss.

"Let’s stay a little longer." I say and turn my gaze back to my aunt.

"As you can see aunt, my sexual life is in a much better condition than you would care to know, so I would advise that you no longer concern yourself with the words of an idiot like Rowan, because if anyone was faking pleasure, I assure you it was . I’m certain if Alicia was here she would attest to that, she would know as well as I do, maybe even better since she was screaming his na out so loudly in bed the last ti I saw the two of them together."

Trying to sha and dean

when her daughter is the one with dirty laundries that can never be washed clean.

"Why is the air here so tense?" Talk about the little devil.

Alicia walks back to her seat with a small bag in her hand. I can’t help sneering when I realize she’s in a different dress. I was wondering where she went, turns out she went to change her clothes... Because Duke said she had a bad stench around her.

I guess she didn’t get the mo quite clearly seeing that the sll of rosemary in her is even stronger now than it was before, which only ans she must have applied more perfu to hide whatever stench she believed Duke was talking about.

Was Alicia always this dumb?

"Nothing much, I was just giving the couple so marital advice." Aunt Evelyn says.

"Oh, I see." She says and tugs so hair behind her ear. To think even after what happened earlier she’s still trying to flirt with and seduce Duke. The way she’s smiling, the way she’s readjusting the rather wide neckline of her dress so as to show more cleavage, the way she is leaning over the table so her breasts can pop even more even though she’s sitting directly in front of Duke.

WoW, I must say, the woman is good.

If Duke hadn’t reassured

over and over that he had no interest in the woman, I’d be really worried because I’ve seen her use these tactics many tis.

But right now, I just feel fine.

Maybe it’s because of Duke’s many words and acts of reassurance or maybe because right now, underneath the table his hand is starting to wander into the slit of my dress and is playing on my thigh, drawing circles.

The party just keeps getting better.

"Oh, Mr Grand, this is for you." Alicia suddenly says, placing the bag she had brought with her on the table and pushing it towards Duke.

"Rember the last ti we were together. You left that behind, so I thought I’d return it to you." She bites the corner of her bottom lip as she speaks, "You know, you’re a busy man, I wouldn’t have been able to et you so I thought I’d give it back to you today." Seeing that Duke isn’t touching the bag and is just staring at her uninterested, she pulls out the content of the bag by herself.

"Here, it’s your coat. Rember?"

Now that’s an interesting turn of event because I do recognize that coat. It’s Duke’s. And if I’m not mistaken, that coat should be in so tras at the airport.
