Chapter 40: 40. Rey Grand
Snow bath, in so places, it’s a tradition, where little children are bathed in snow. They say it makes the child stronger, giving him or her a strong immune system to battle any kind of sickness. All in all, it’s said to bring good health.
That’s what Google will tell you.
I know, I looked it up too.
But for these folks, these people... It’s a tradition, yes, but not a tradition to build up a stronger immune system.
No... Far from it.
For them, it’s a tradition just for Duke, the Christmas baby. It’s a birthday tradition. A tradition where more than bathing, there’s snow smashing, snow slapping, snow dipping and burying; where they pin him down to the cold snow and try to bury him before he can escape.
All in all, there’s less snow bathing and more snow mania.
"Duke, watch out! Behind you!!!" I scream from behind the window as he’s holding off Alan, but Fredrick is coming up from behind him.
"Haha! Look at daddy has forwin down. HAHAHA." Shelly points and laughs hysterically, causing Renny to laugh too.
All four of us, Myself, Shelly, Renny and Emily have taken positions in front of the window, with the twins kneeling on the head of the sofa that’s resting on the windows walls. Staring at the craziness going on outside, too wary of the cold to actually step out.
"You boys are gonna give my baby a brain freeze!" Emily yells as once again, Alan and Fredrick pin down Duke. Sohow, Duke anders through their hold and he’s running toward the house.
"Faster! Faster Daddy faster!!" The twins are happily chanting for their father like cheerleaders.
"Don’t jump there, you’ll fall." I say to them as I can see them already bouncing with happiness. Then I turn my attention back to my husband who seems to be running as fast as he can but the snow is hindering his movent.
"Duke," I scream too. I don’t even know when I let it out. "Co on, you’re almost there! You can make it!!"
"Yes Dukey, you can’t keep getting beat up in front of your kids! Run."
"Faster daddy. Faster!! Daddy!! GO, RUN RUN RUN!!!"
All of a sudden, right before our eyes, sothing runs into Duke from the side, and he goes crashing back into the snow with the thing that just ran into him.
Or was it a person?
All our laughs and screams instantly die down as if we’re all waiting for sothing. Who is that? Who could that be and where the heck did he co from?
And why did he do that to Duke?
"W_who is that? What is he doing?" I mutter to myself as I turn to stare at Emily behind . And weirdly while I’m having a worried look on my face, she has a weird smile on hers.
Why?
Why is she smiling?
"Where do you think you’re going, birthday boy?" An unknown voice that I haven’t heard since I got here. And I turn around to see everyone outside laughing. Even Duke with is head resting on the cold snow is grinning with a palm over his eyes.
"Guess who caught the birthday boy?" The person finally turns his head toward our direction with a big grin upon his face and oh my gosh, was there a male version of Emily?!!
"UNCLE WAY!!!" The twins suddenly scream, sliding down from the chair in such a haste that I fear they might fall. "Uncle way! Uncle way! Uncle way!" They are chanting with so much zeal.
With the sa enthusiasm, they rush towards the door only to halt there and their hands can’t reach the doorknob. These little dwarfs, hah.
I’m confused... Uncle way? They probably an Ray, right?
Emily walks towards the door and generously helps them open it.
As she opens the door, the twins, not minding that they are barefooted, run outside, giggling and running altogether.
"My precious little footballs!!" He says, finally letting go of Duke to accept the very zealous hug of the twins.
He picks the two of them off the ground, "I’m so hungry I’m gonna eat you both now!" He says and pretends to be gulping them both up. Fake-biting their ears and arms, causing them to wiggle and giggle non-stop.
Standing behind Emily who’s just standing by the door with her hands folded on her chest and a smile on her face, I can’t stop staring and smiling at the scene in front of . The twins’ laugh is quite contagious.
"Momma," He says while walking towards Emily who can’t seem to contain the smile that’s growing wider and wider on her lips.
Carefully, he sets down the twins at the doorstep and wraps Emily in a big hug. She hugs him back. And they sway in each other’s arms laughing and breathing in each other.
"I missed you momma." He says and she scoffs.
"Says the child who never wants to co ho." She says.
He laughs and I flinch as he suddenly lifts his lashes and our eyes et. He smiles at , a very charming smile I must say. He looks so much like Emily!
He’s calling her mom, the twins are calling him uncle so that must only an that he’s their son. Which also ans, Duke’s brother. Older or younger? I can’t tell.
"You damn mama’s boy. You bypassed your father to hug your mother first!" I hear Fredrick saying from behind him and at that mont, our eye contact breaks as he turns around to face Fredrick.
He shrugs, "She cherishes
more." and he gives Fredrick a hug too. "Oh old man, I missed you too." He says, giving his father a harder squeeze.
Fredrick scoffs, "I am only fifty-five, I’m still young." Huh!!! He’s fifty-five! He doesn’t look it at all. He still looks quite young. At most mid-forties.
Wait, now that I think about it, how old is Duke?
"Man, it’s so annoying that you get more good looking every ti you return." Says the blond man who is equally good looking.
"There’s the last kid of the house! Alan, my boy! How are you doing?" He says as he moves from Fredrick to Alan, placing his arm over his shoulder and putting him in a sudden headlock.
"Stop it, I am twenty-eight for goodness sake, not twelve!" Alan tries to shove him off but the man is taller and bulkier than he is. I think he’s taller than Duke too.
But wait, did he just call Alan the last kid of the house? What does that an?
...
"Hi," He says to , with an outstretched hand.
"Hello." I say in turn, taking his handshake.
"I’m Rey. That’s Rey with an ’E’ not an ’A’," damn he is fine. "It ans King in Spanish." Why am I not surprised? There’s already a Duke. It won’t make sense if there is no King.
But he really is as fine as Emily. Duke looks like his father, taking just the black hair color from his mother, while this man, this man is the spitting image of his mother, only he took his father’s brown hair and blue eyes.
He takes my hand to his lips and places a kiss there, "Uh, no! No, no, no! That’s your brother’s wife! You will not flirt with her!" Fredrick suddenly rushes between us and takes my hand from him.
"Stay away from this one dear, he is not normal. He is the bad son." Fredrick says and I can’t believe he just said sothing like that to his son’s face. Well the man in question doesn’t seem to mind being called the bad soon.
"Duke! Hey Duke! Better co down quick, Rey is trying to steal your wife!" Alan yells.
"Rey!! Get away from Pagne now!!" I hear Duke bellow from within the room. I have never heard him shout so loud before.
"Pagne, it’s nice to finally et you." He says.
"Actually, it’s Champagne, only Duke calls
Pagne." I don’t know why I said that, but I just said that.
"I see. Well, you are as beautiful as—"
"Rey!!" Duke screams coming down from the stairs like sothing is chasing him.
"She is out of bounds. She has been taken, there is no changing it. She is mine!" For so reason, that fierce declaration makes
blush. The way his hand pulls
behind him and his voice that’s sounding so out of breath, I just like it all.
"I know. I was only saying hello." He shrugs. "Although, it’s a sha you snatched up such a beauty."
Beauty? Where? Who? ?!! Does he an ? I think the n of this house have so sort of eye problem they don’t know of yet. How can he effortlessly calm
beautiful?
"Rey,"
"Alright, alright. I give up." He lifts his hands up in the air and winks at . He’s a mischievous fellow, and I’m not a good judge of character, my previous relationships can attest to that. But for so reason, I think he’s okay.
"Let
introduce myself properly this ti. I am Rey Grand. The handso other twin half of your husband."
Huh!!!
T_twin!!! "You’re twins!" I am in shock!
