Chapter 140: 140. Side Story 4: Alan’s appearance.

As Janey walked towards the main church building, she mumbled and grumbled to herself of how she had prayed to God, literally begged God to bring the handso blonde guy to church this Sunday and yet after all her pleading God didn’t push the man to church.

"Well, I guess he’s not for ." She mumbled. "If he was for

you’d have answered my prayers, right?" she told herself again as though she was seeing God face-to-face.

"But I wanted him to be for ." She grumbled again as she pushed the door to the church open and walked in, using her eyes to scan the area for David’s mother.

But at that mont, her eyes caught sothing... or soone.

Blond hair...

Her heart jumped and the foul mood she’d been in instantly washes away as she took further steps into the church, with her eyes on the blond man and like fate, he turned...

The foul mood that had flown away quickly returned to her as she rolled her eyes, unintentionally eyeing the young man wickedly because he wasn’t who she thought he was.

Quietly, she hurried over to where David’s mom was sitting, told her of the predicant on ground and was handed the new bottle filled with water.

Having gotten what she ca for, Janey walked quietly to the exit and at the sa ti she was stepping out, soone else was stepping in.

Tall, blond, blue eyes gazing directly into her brown eyes that were starting to open wider and wider and— "Ah!!" She scread, he flinched and she slapped a palm over her mouth as she turned and saw all eyes on her.

Quickly, she ran out of the church without looking back. Her heart racing and her mind screaming what just happened?!!

"Janey! What is it?! What’s wrong? Who’s chasing you?!" briskly, Champagne walks to her side while asking questions.

For seconds, Janey stood there, with her back pressed against the door and her breath syncing back to normal.

Then she opened her mouth and said, "H_he ca."

"What?" Champagne asked, confused.

"Alan, y_your husband’s brother... he ca to church."

...

Now that Janey was certain he was in church, the dress she was wearing didn’t itch her any longer. Rather she continued staring at herself through her phone cara to make sure she was perfect.

Ti and ti again she would pinch herself for wiping off the lip gloss from her lips. She didn’t even bring it with her and Champagne also didn’t have one.

If only she had been a little more patient.

"Janey, you look fine. Stop readjusting your dress every minute." Champagne laughed as they wrapped up together. It was almost closing ti.

"Oh, you’re just saying that because you see him every ti. I’m so nervous and I already made a fool of myself in front of him earlier! Oh God why?! Why did you let

scream like that!" Janey wailed with her face buried in her palms.

"Do you seriously like him that much?" Champagne laughs again. It wasn’t the first ti Janey was crushing on a guy so she hadn’t taught much about it, but she did not expect the girl to be so serious about it. It was the first ti she was seeing her fidgeting because of a guy she was crushing on.

"Oh don’t ask

that." Janey says with her hands still covering her face. "He’s just so handso, his voice too is beautiful. And when he said my na last Sunday, oh it was so sweet, I don’t think my na has ever sounded that special before."

Champagne wondered if they were really talking about the sa Alan.

"Well, you do know he’s older than you, right? Like way older. Aren’t you into younger guys? He and I should be almost the sa age, that’s like an eight to nine years age gap." Champagne says and Janey finally takes her hands off her face.

"Really?" Janey says with the shock evident on her face.

"Yeah, really."

"Oh my gosh, Champagne," She suddenly exclaims, "I must really take after my momma with everything. Even our taste in n is similar."

"What?"

"My daddy is ten years older than my momma and trust

when I tell you she loves that man more than she loves her own kids."

"Ah, I see." Champagne just nods, realizing that clearly, the age was not a bone of contention.

"It must be fate. Destiny..." Janey was more than happy with him being older.

...

Soon church service was over and everyone was coming to pick up their children. Every ti the door opened, Janey would lift her head, expecting to see him, but it was never him.

It continued like that until every child had been taken, leaving just herself, Champagne and the twins there.

"Whew! And that’s a wrap." Champagne says as they finish tidying up and are ready to step out.

"Co on, kids, let’s go find your daddy." She says and they match toward the door with Janey following behind them with a sad look on her face.

She thought he would co to pick them up like he did last Sunday, but her hopes were shattered.

However, all hope wasn’t lost! Shattered doesn’t an it’s completely lost!

Her plan now was to act like she was going inside the church when in actuality, she’s just following Champagne so she can catch a glimpse of Alan.

"Daddy! Mummy daddy is over there!" Shelly points freeing his hand from her own and running towards his father. Renny does the sa and Champagne is left screaming, "Don’t run!"

While Janey is seriously looking everywhere for Alan, but even now he’s nowhere to be found.

"Did he leave already?" She wondered to herself.

"Oh Janey, co here let

introduce you." Champagne pulls her close, "Duke, this is Janey, my partner in the children’s church, and Janey this is Duke, my husband."

Shyly, Janey smiles "Nice to et you Mr Duke." She says with a small bow of her head.

"Ah, so this is the famous Janey my son keeps talking about." Duke says.

"Daddy, isn’t she bwubiful? Yike mummy." Shelly asks his father and it causes Janey to blush even more as the child complints her in front of his father.

"Well, I don’t know about that young man, there sure isn’t anyone as lovely as your mummy in my eyes." Duke says and now Champagne was the one blushing.

"Well, I guess that’s why they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Jane’s heart leaped. A tingling sensation was starting to rise at her finger tips as she heard that voice. Slowly she turned around and there he was, with a soft smile on his face walking towards them.

He reaches her side and he’s standing in front of her, those blue eyes staring down at her were causing sweet, sweet ripples in her belly, "Because I’ll say this young lady is far more beautiful." He says right to her face and Janey was certain her heart stopped working for so seconds after those words.

That’s until he moves past her and picks up Renny and says, "Isn’t that right Renny? Aren’t you the most beautiful lady here?!" He says into the child’s stomach and Renny giggles delightfully.

He was talking about the child, Janey realized this fact now and the embarrassnt she felt caused her face to redden imnsely. She had thought he was talking about her!

The embarrassnt was killing her! "I_I’ll go now. M_my momma must be looking for

now. It was nice eting you Mr Duke..." She was literally running away as she spoke.

"Bye Renny, bye Shelly." She waved with her back turned to them as she bolted away from them to save so face.

She heard the twins saying a goodbye in turn.

Then, "See you next week," She heard him and she paused but she didn’t want to turn; just like earlier, he might not be referring to her, but then he adds, "Janey."

And now she knew he was talking to her and she still couldn’t turn because this ti she was certain he was talking to her and unlike last week, this ti, he just indirectly assured her she’d be seeing him next week, right?!

She couldn’t turn around! She knew she was redder than tomato paste so she wasn’t turning around, so she ran. Ran with a happy and grateful heart thinking to herself, "God I’m sorry I was impatient, and thank you for bringing him."

While Janey was running away, all eyes were on Alan. Duke was staring at him, Champagne was staring at him, Gio was staring at him and all he could say was, "What?"

"Were you just flirting with her?" Duke bluntly asks and Alan stares at the rest of them and it seed they all had the sa question hanging on the tip of their tongue.

"Is that what it looked like?" Alan asks and they all nod. Even Renny and Shelly nod.

He shrugs and says, "Well if that’s how it seed then... I guess I was."
