Chapter 415
~Snow’s POV~
Ella’s expression faltered slightly, but she quickly masked it with a cold glare. "Dramatic much?"
I shook my head, forcing myself to stay calm. "It’s not drama, Ella. Vera wants Zara dead."
Ella went completely still. Sothing flickered in her eyes—sothing sharp, like a kind of recognition.
I saw it instantly. She knew.
"You said... Vera?" Ella whispered, her voice suddenly hoarse.
I nodded. "Yes. You know her?"
Ella’s hands trembled slightly. "She attacked ."
My blood ran cold. "What?"
Ella swallowed hard, her face paling as if sothing dark had just clicked in her mind. "That witch... she attacked back then which cause my injuries and the reason I ca to youir house this last ti. It was all Vera."
"Hold up. Why didn’t Zara tell ?"
"Well, she knew your mate as Vani and then... Wait, that Vera scoundrel. I never could quite place the mories that seed to be missing and why, but at a ti in your place, Vani always tried coming to myaid; even when I was with soone, she would barge in. I didn’t quite understand what was going on until now."
"That is?"
"All I can recall is talking to her about it while silently warning her to stay in her place. I cannot recall the details after that. Vera must have done sothing to my mories. I never saw her do it, but I always had a feeling... And now that you say this—"
Ella gasped, her hands flying to her temples as she stumbled back a step. Judging from how she held her head and tightened her eyelids, a wave of pain crashed over her.
I rushed forward. "Ella?"
She squeezed her eyes shut, her body tensing. "It’s her," she whispered, her voice tight with pain. "She... she was always the one. I saw her before."
I grabbed her shoulders. "Where? How?"
Ella’s breathing was uneven as she blinked rapidly, her mories seemingly rearranging themselves. "In your house. I saw her in your damn house, Snow!"
A chill crawled down my spine. "What do you an?"
Ella’s fingers dug into her temples. "She—Vera, or Vani—she was the one causing Zara’s nightmares. She was trying to steal her powers at night."
My chest tightened. "The astral projection?"
I had dismissed Zara’s concerns so many tis. I thought she was just exhausted at first or that she was overthinking things. But no—she had been right all along.
And even though we couldn’t find a solution, I allowed the cause into my ho.
Vera had been feeding off her. Draining her.
I clenched my fists. "That bitch..."
Ella’s eyes burned with fury as the headache slowly eased. She exhaled shakily before looking up at , her expression dark.
"You need to find Zara. Now."
I was already ahead of her. I took a step back, reaching for my keys. "I’ll call Zade. You call Kaid and warn him if he is with her, he must keep her safe until my arrival. My wife is ver We need to be prepared for anything."
Ella nodded sharply. "I’ll tell him now. Go, Snow. Go get your wife back before it’s too late."
I didn’t need to be told twice.
I was out the door and back in my car within seconds, my tyres screeching against the pavent as I sped off into the highway.
This ti, I wouldn’t be too late.

~Vera’s POV~
I stumbled through the thick trees at the outskirts of the city, my breath coming in ragged gasps as I clutched my throat. My fingers trembled against the bruised skin where Snow had nearly crushed my windpipe.
That bastard. If he was not my mate, then probably I wouldn’t have hesitated a second. I would have killed him and squashed his beating heart in my hands. My breathing ca off laboured.
Fuck, I hated this. I leaned against a tree, my gaze glancing around just to make sure no soul was in the vicinity.
I had to give it to Snow. I had underestimated him—let my arrogance slip through, thinking I still had control but I had no idea when he saw through my plans.
No more.
I sucked in a deep breath, calming my pulse. I had no ti to waste. Zara needed to die. Snow was onto now, and if I didn’t act fast, he would interfere.
I reached for the small black pouch tied at my waist and poured out the contents—fine white salt mixed with ground obsidian. The mont it hit the earth, the air around shifted.
The spell circle was ready monts later.
A smirk tugged at my lips as I pulled out a delicate silver hairbrush. Stuck between the bristles were long strands of golden-blonde hair.
Zara’s hair. Her essence. Her life.
I stepped into the circle, my bare feet tingling as the energy surged through . Raising the brush high, I began to chant, my voice echoing through the silent forest.
Dark energy swirled around , purple and blue lights sparking to life as the spell took hold. The world around blurred—twisting, stretching—before snapping into place.
And then—I reappeared.
The air slled different, cleaner, and more refined. A hint of vanilla and sothing undeniably Zara lingered in the space.
I looked around. The apartnt was unfamiliar, but as my eyes landed on a frad picture sitting on a nearby shelf, my blood boiled.
It was a picture of Zara and Snow standing together. Laughing. Happy.
Rage surged through , burning hotter than my magic. Without a second thought, I raised my hand and flicked my wrist. A ball of dark energy shot forward, slamming into the picture fra.
CRACK!
The glass shattered, the fra crashing to the floor, its remnants scattered across the wooden surface.
I smirked. Perfect.
My fingers curled as I whispered a final spell under my breath. The air around pulsed, sending a silent summons through the void.
"Co ho, Zara." I chanted, shutting my eyes, and when I opened them, a dark blue and purple energy swirled around them.
"Co and face your death."
