Chapter 1334: 435. Justify oneself

“Cucumber Slice, you should know that the operation of the ga helt is related to brainwaves,” Noland Lee said.

“Yes, I know,” Cucumber Slice pondered for a mont, his thoughts racing:

“Are you suggesting that the virus I contracted could interfere with my brainwaves through the ga helt? On one hand, it could make forget to take off the helt, and on the other hand, it could also force online?”

Noland was pleased with Cucumber Slice’s quick thinking and smiled:

“Exactly, you’re very close to the truth. So, you can imagine how nasty this virus is. It’s very likely that human brainwaves are the dium for its transmission.”

“Human brainwaves as the dium…” Cucumber Slice’s expression changed dramatically.

...

In that instant, nurous pessimistic thoughts surged in his mind!

What would happen if a virus could spread through human brainwaves?

Two players, connected indirectly through their brainwaves by the ga helt, could consequently transmit the virus from one to the other.

If such a transmission occurred within the ga, it would manifest as…

It would manifest as in-ga player interaction behaviors like “Friend Requests”!

Cucumber Slice’s eyes widened as he pulled up his friend request list and looked at the “Invalid” friend request ssages.

“So that’s it, that’s it… No wonder I received those inexplicable friend requests, and then contracted the virus right after…”

Noland followed Cucumber Slice’s gaze toward the other’s ga interface.

Initially, only the player themselves could see this interface.

But after signing what was called a “Data Tracking Agreent”, Noland could now see Cucumber Slice’s ga interface.

Subsequently, Noland also noticed the friend request ssage.

Noland pondered for a mont, then continued along the lines of Cucumber Slice’s train of thought:

“The essence of interactions within the ga is the connection of players’ brainwaves. Through investigation, we have discovered that the primary route of this virus’s transmission is the interactive activities within the ga among the players.”

Cucumber Slice steeled his mind and then asked in a thoughtful manner:

“With the player activity levels in Starry Sea, wouldn’t the virus spread incredibly quickly?”

Noland shook his head slightly:

“No, the situation isn’t as bleak as that. It’s true that the virus can spread through brainwaves, but not everyone’s brainwaves can receive it. According to our statistics, only about 1% of players et the criteria for virus reception. You are among them.”

“What exactly are the criteria for receiving the virus?” Cucumber Slice asked.

Noland didn’t intend to conceal anything in this regard and answered directly:

“All players who have ever deleted a ga character et the criteria.”

“Deleted a ga character…” Cucumber Slice took a deep breath and a look of realization crossed his face:

“I understand. I indeed deleted a ga character once, back when the ga had just launched. At the start, there were 9 spawn points, but our team only had 8 people, so we could only create guides for 8 spawn points. I couldn’t recruit anyone to help us with the guide for the ninth spawn point, so I had to delete my first character to personally complete that guide.”

Cucumber Slice raised his hand to his head and let out a light sigh:

“So it was that action that made a target for the virus infection. But how does that work?”

While talking with Cucumber Slice, Noland Lee was also learning the truth about the Starry Sea ga through the Order Plane’s Core.

The players were a group of souls being raised within the Plane’s Core.

The creation and post-death resurrection of the ga characters were a result of ‘Soul Exchange’ at work.

This special ability of the Plane’s Core, ‘Soul Exchange’, could utilize Soul Energy to create soulless vessels in the Material World.

The vessels created by ‘Soul Exchange’, called Soul Constructs by the Command, were what players saw as ga characters.

When players put on the ga helt and projected their consciousness onto the ga characters, the process was called ‘Soul Projection’.

When a ga character died, the ‘Soul Projection’ would break, and the character would be reconstructed at the Safe Zone with the help of the Plane Core’s ‘Soul Exchange’.

Note that it is reconstruction, not resurrection.

Soul Constructs were extraordinary in their own right.

In the era of the Supre Star Palace, they were the standard equipnt for those guarding the gates of the Star Palace.

Before players chose to delete a character, a Soul Construct could be reconstructed ti and again at specific locations, never truly dying.

This was the secret behind the players’ ability to resurrect after death.

So why did the Dark Divine Cult specifically target players who had deleted their characters?

The answer was simple.

Players deleting characters equated to the death of the Soul Constructs.

And “death” is the realm of the Dark God System.

Dark Deities generally have the ability to sense the phenonon of death.

Common deaths are nurous and as vast as rivers, so the Dark God System wouldn’t pay attention to such mundane occurrences.

But if an immortal Soul Construct were to die, that death would be as conspicuous as a bright fire in the Dark Night to the eyes of Dark Gods, impossible to ignore.

Therefore, when a player deletes a character, causing the original Soul Construct to die, the Dark God System would take notice of them.

While the Dark Gods have not yet revived, They can still use the Dark Book to guide the Dark Divine Cult in setting up ceremonies, targeting the players who deleted characters, and then exert their influence.
