Chapter 1175: 367. Unexpected
The tal Ancestor Dragon was making contact with tal objects that had been assimilated by itself.
Street lamps shining light on the streets, garbage cans that had beco hos for stray cats, swaying manhole covers, the gently vibrating tracks as trains passed by, and the coins tucked inside the pockets of ordinary people such as travelers, residents, soldiers, and rchants.
All these tal objects opened up their perspectives to the tal Ancestor Dragon, allowing it to observe, listen to, and feel everything around it from their own angles.
From the marketplace and Fountain Square at the city’s center to the train platform located on the outskirts, to the taverns, horse barns, and workshops outside the city, the tal Ancestor Dragon had its eyes everywhere.
The tal Ancestor Dragon saw the myriad faces of mankind: whispers, moans, revelry, the crying of infants, the sighs of exhaustion, the lancholy of loss, and the smugness that ca after careful calculations.
The emotions of human beings could not influence the tal Ancestor Dragon.
...
After arriving in the Inner Cosmos, it had seen far too much of mankind’s ugliness at the renowned Baldur’s Gate.
The sights now before the tal Ancestor Dragon’s eyes, intense as they were, still could not spark the tal Ancestor Dragon’s desire to watch, being far less stirring than Baldur’s Gate.
Its hands stretching towards the city slowly clenched into fists, and the buzzing sound from all directions grew fiercer, yet the common people and wizards within the city could not hear it.
All tal objects assimilated by the tal Ancestor Dragon vibrated rapidly with tiny amplitudes, projecting dense shockwaves into their surroundings.
“Buzz buzz buzz————”
The shockwaves seed endless, each resonating with the others.
Soon, a vast surveillance Technique enveloped every area aboveground, underground, inside, and outside the entire City District.
Everything, large as the load-bearing columns inside buildings and as small as the erging mice and cockroaches, beca crystal clear in the tal Ancestor Dragon’s mind.
Even those secret agents who had achieved Invisibility through spells or scrolls were left with nowhere to hide.
The tal Ancestor Dragon saw undead spies tiptoeing underground, Light Wizards cloaked in Invisibility Magic searching for the Gem Box on the streets, and Earth Vein Wizards rapidly moving through the soil using Earth Rock Magic.
The tal Ancestor Dragon effortlessly grasped many secrets, but still did not find its Gem Box.
“I have to take back my previous comnt. This isn’t a despicable thief, but rather a skilled thief with despicable thods,” the tal Ancestor Dragon muttered to itself.
“Nyrephale, I have to admit, the assistant you found via the paths of destiny does indeed have so skills. I can’t find any trace of the Gem Box inside or outside the city.”
The tal Ancestor Dragon knew clearly:
Magic alone from Wizards couldn’t achieve this result.
Having enslaved the “Wizard” Core of the Plane with its fellow mbers of the Dragon Clan for a long ti, the tal Ancestor Dragon’s understanding of “magic” was only slightly inferior to that of the Core of the Plane itself.
With just a bit of distinction based on its experience and understanding of magic, the tal Ancestor Dragon could determine that at least one extraordinary being from outside the wizard system had participated in tonight’s events.
So, what kind of extraordinary being could avoid being detected by it?
Instead of flitting about aimlessly, the tal Ancestor Dragon quietly floated in place, sinking into thought.
It first recalled the abnormalities that manifested in Jay Spade before the theft of the Gem Box, which seed akin to being under mind control.
After Jay Spade left the Warehouse and returned to the Office Room, Paisi Dingda, whose body had yet to be taken over by the tal Ancestor Dragon, noticed that the scent of the Gem Box had suddenly vanished from his sensory range.
By the ti the tal Ancestor Dragon took over Paisi’s body, the Gem Box had completely disappeared without a trace.
That was what led it to conduct a wide-scale search throughout the entire city.
From the mont Jay Spade returned to the Office Room to when the tal Ancestor Dragon took control of Paisi’s body and floated in the air, only half a minute had elapsed.
In just this half minute, the tal Ancestor Dragon lost complete track of the Gem Box; it couldn’t even communicate with the box to make it vibrate.
This was truly alarming for the tal Ancestor Dragon.
Only it knew how terrifying an existence that could completely avoid its detection truly was.
If the other party was not here to steal, but rather to assassinate or poison, it would be an utterly inevitable adversary.
“Wait, assassination…”
The eyes of the tal Ancestor Dragon trembled slightly, recalling a formidable figure.
“At this mont, though there are few beings capable of snatching the tallic Gem Box from under my eyes without my noticing, each one seems to have the audacity to challenge .
“Count the Shadow King Tuan who hasn’t been resurrected, then there’s the Shadow Executioner exiled to the Barren Universe, the ‘Escape’ Core of the Plane, and the Assassin Angel sealed within the Angel Enterprise Alliance.
“And those Transcendent Wizards who happened upon Wild Magic by chance. These fellows’ life tiers aren’t high, but as long as they utilize ample Magic Energy, they can temporarily blind my vision with Wild Magic.
“However, the Transcendent Wizards fear being bound again by the shackles of destiny and dare not easily enter the Natural World. Overall, I am more inclined to believe that it was a mber of the Star Palace who stole my box, rather than those Transcendent Wizards.”
