"Cough..."
Laura Quincy was coughing uncontrollably, for a mont she almost thought she was going to die.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed in the middle of winter?"
Jason Hawthorne’s eyes were filled with anger.
He spoke as he dragged her towards the edge of the boat; at this mont, Laura wasn’t struggling. After all, they were in the sea, and no matter how much she disliked this man, she wouldn’t oppose him in such a situation.
On the deck, she took a deep breath of fresh air, "That’s right! I’d rather suffer than be with you! Are you satisfied now? Can we dock now?"
Jason’s eyes held a trace of frustration and defeat, and helplessly, he had to instruct the captain to dock.
Otherwise, he really didn’t know what more extre things this woman might do...
As soon as the boat docked, Laura couldn’t wait to disembark. Jason stopped her, "You’re soaking wet, how can you leave like that? Go take a hot shower and change into so dry clothes first."
Laura glanced at him sideways and said irritably, "You’re not up to sothing again, are you?"
Jason’s face was as dark as the water, "Is that the kind of man I am to you?"
Laura snorted coldly, "No! You’re a complete liar!"
Jason’s face was black as soot, but he could only endure it.
Laura couldn’t be bothered to deal with him anymore. She took a quick hot shower, changed into clean clothes, and left. If it wasn’t the middle of winter, she wouldn’t have delayed even a mont.
This ti, Jason didn’t drive her himself; he let David do it.
He didn’t go back imdiately; instead, he stayed alone on the deck smoking, frowning with annoyance, wondering what he could do to get Laura to forgive him?
On the way back, Laura kept staring out the window. Delayed by that jerk Jason for so long, she probably couldn’t make it to Norcastle today. What a waste of that train ticket.
Halfway through the journey, David couldn’t help himself, "Miss Quincy, our boss really cares about you. Do you rember that day when you went to his office? There was supposed to be a press conference in the afternoon to announce you as the only woman he loves..."
Laura couldn’t listen anymore, "Enough! Stop talking about it! I don’t want to hear it at all!"
The people around him would certainly speak well of him, but she really didn’t need it!
Six years ago, being hypnotized into having a child, regardless of his reasons, she couldn’t accept the fact. How was his behavior any different from assault?
Did he get her consent?
Thinking about it made her feel so wronged...
Anyone would need ti to digest sothing so big, so how could he expect her to accept it naturally?
This stark truth overturned everything she previously understood about herself, and now it all seed ridiculous!
David didn’t dare say anymore, and could only silently hold back his frustration as he safely took Laura to her community.
When leaving, he couldn’t help but say, "Miss Quincy, the boss is actually suffering too. He had his own reasons back then..."
Laura simply covered her ears and walked away, enough already!
Just because he had reasons, does it an she has to pay the price?
Why didn’t they say she was the most innocent victim? If she hadn’t accidentally overheard John and Mary’s conversation, she’d probably be kept in the dark forever!
Why should she forgive such a vile man?
Back ho, Laura only felt more agitated and couldn’t sleep. She turned on her computer and logged into QQ, browsing a few web pages before hearing a QQ ssage notification.
She clicked to see that it was Jonah Xavier.
"Have you found a new job?"
"Not yet, I’ve sent resus to a few places online."
"Do you need to introduce you to soone?"
He had ntioned it before, but Laura thought since she planned to go to Norcastle, he wouldn’t be able to help, so she politely replied.
"I’m planning to move to Norcastle, jobs there should be easy to find, considering I’m not a fresh grad."
After a while, the chat box returned two words: Norcastle?
Then, a long ssage: Are you really deciding to go to Norcastle?
Laura replied confidently: Yes, I am.
After a pause of about two seconds, Jonah replied: I’ve worked with so companies in Norcastle before, coincidentally, I have a trip there the day after tomorrow. Want to co with and have a look? If it doesn’t fit, you can choose another company.
"But haven’t you been busy with the Aegis Group case recently?"
"There have been so small issues these past couple of days. The party involved wasn’t completely honest with us, so we’re recollecting evidence. Besides, I have a few other matters that require to make a trip to Norcastle."
