Shing!
Shing!
Shing!
Then—
Creakkk!
Haley slowly slid his sword into the scabbard, the sharp sound of tal striking tal echoing in the air of the training area.
Thud!
He slowly approached one of his underlings and took a handkerchief, lightly wiping the sweat from his pale face.
All while glancing at the bodies he had just sliced to pieces.
There were about five unfortunate humans, bound to pillars, their heads severed.
The crimson blood pouring from their necks was a horrific sight.
"Your power is incredible! I believe you’re the strongest of your generation, my master," one of the nearby underlings said, praising Haley with a soft voice.
However, Haley didn’t care much for the complint. In fact, the words only made him uncomfortable.
He gave the underling a cold glare, causing the man to fall silent and bow his head in fear.
After a mont of heavy silence, Haley began to speak, his voice filled with anger.
"Bring a couple more humans. I need to perfect my skill."
...
"Yes, sir!" Seizing the chance to escape, the underling imdiately ran out of the training yard.
"I have to do it again..." Haley muttered, stepping back and preparing a combat stance. But before he could act, a voice rang out nearby.
"My master, I have a report."
"Huh?Lesley, " Haley frowned slightly, then relaxed and stopped what he was doing.
"I’m listening," he said in a deep voice, sheathing his sword and walking over to sit in a nearby chair.
Another underling, this one nearly bald, glanced at the pile of corpses ahead, shivering slightly with fear.
"My master is still as cruel as ever..." he thought.
Those poor humans had been unfortunate enough to be captured by Haley, who had a strange obsession with slashing through human flesh.
He claid he had to do it—to stay aware of his skills.
Of course, none of them truly believed that. All they knew was that it was just one more sign of his cruel and twisted nature.
"Speak," Haley ordered. "Or your fate will look like what you’re staring at."
"Y-Yes, sir," Lesley stamred, quickly adjusting his tone to sound more respectful.
"My young master, our prison has been completely destroyed!"
...
"Anything else?" Haley asked flatly, as if he had already known about this for a long ti.
The question caught the underling off guard. He stood frozen in surprise for a second before managing to respond.
Seeing his reaction, Haley spat on the ground and said,
"Nothing surprising. I figured this place would fall soon anyway—it’s deep in the Divine Forest of the Clan. I’m guessing this was Kevin’s doing, right?"
The underling nodded in admiration.
"Tch, I knew it. That damn rat always moves fast. But it doesn’t matter. I’ve erased all traces. Even if he knows it was , he won’t be able to prove anything."
Haley stroked his chin, his thoughts consud by the enemy he hated the most.
"Tsk, but I didn’t expect him to do so soon! I knew it—those damn jailers would never do anything for . They were just filthy trash, after all."
Lesley, who stood nearby, quickly nodded in agreent with Haley’s words, adding his own anger to the mix.
"You’re right, young master. They were just trash!"
It was clear he had no desire to see such lowly people be allowed into their Clan.
Those sa lowly people had once been taken in by Haley long ago, because they’d proven useful to him. However, they had always been a thorn in the side of many within the Clan.
Anyway, they were just pathetic outsiders.
"Tsk. Send them off sowhere—or make them useful! Even if they die, I don’t care anymore. I’ve wasted enough resources on that pile of shit."
Haley turned his eyes to his underling with a new order.
"Yes, sir. I’ll be sure to make them useful," Lesley replied.
He grinned slightly. He had been waiting for this mont for a long ti. Lifting his head, he asked in a polite voice:
"So... might I take one of their wives, young master?"
...
"You an the wife of that lowly man I’ve kept alive to continue using him, Jenkins?" Haley asked, raising an eyebrow as he recalled so details.
That man had a certain amount of talent and had been forced into the Clan by Haley himself.
"It’s up to you," Haley replied with a shrug, losing interest. Although that lowly man had been useful, the way Rhythm’s corruption object had turned out didn’t et his expectations, and that left him angry about everything.
Lesley nodded slightly, bowing his head without daring to say more. He feared that if he said another word, his young master might change his mind.
Still, beneath that lowered head, he barely hid the twisted excitent on his face.
"Hahaha... How dare you try to fight back at ? I’ll steal your wife and make her mine!"
He was filled with joy as he imagined what would soon co to pass.
In fact, he had planned all of this from the start.
He had intentionally let Tyrone escape earlier.
He knew Tyrone had regenerated beneath the pile of corpses—and though he had wanted to kill him again, he stopped when the plan ca to mind.
He would use it to fra the Jailers—those of lowly status.
And, of course, they would take the bla for everything, since most Jailers were from the lower class.
Besides, he understood his young master very well.
Haley had sothing close to an obsession when it ca to Kevin.
Everything ca together, and the plan succeeded.
"Sorry, young master, but I really want her. After that, I promise I’ll do anything to repay you."
But just then, he rembered sothing else.
"My young master... the prisoner nad Hector has vanished. I believe he’s been rescued."
Haley grimaced for a mont at the news. But as he thought about everything that would happen—everything connected to Hector—he suddenly burst out laughing.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA...!"
The laughter echoed through the hall for a full thirty seconds before he wiped away a tear from his cheek and said:
"That’s hilarious!"
"I wanna see it happen at the Academy!"
Yes, he wanted to witness Kevin’s fury. Kevin, the one who hadn’t been able to protect his underling, or do anything, back then.
He wanted to see Violet’s rage, too—Violet, whom Haley loathed for her insolence toward him.
And finally, he wanted to see Hector—weak, powerless, unable to resist him.
Just a lowly, cowardly rat.
And blind.
