Upon arriving at the hospital, Ji Wei registered for ergency care and rushed into the consulting room holding An An.

The corridor was crowded with children seeking treatnt, with several numbers ahead of them. Ji Wei sat there with her child, filled with anxiety and worry.

An An had a fever, and his forehead was scorching hot. At that mont, the little guy was exhausted from crying and had fallen asleep. His tender white cheeks were flushed, with tear marks still on his long eyelashes.

Ji Wei felt imnse heartache, holding her child even tighter.

Suddenly, a nurse approached Ji Wei and tapped her on the shoulder. "Mrs. Gu, are you here to have your child seen? Please co with ."

Ji Wei glanced at the young nurse in front of her, sowhat at a loss.

She didn’t know this person.

It wasn’t until she followed the nurse to the ergency room that Ji Wei saw Doctor Shi, who had cared for her before.

Shi Ye spoke a few words with the pediatrician, then raised his eyes and nodded at Ji Wei, "Bring the child over." He said to her.

Ji Wei cast him a grateful glance and hurriedly stepped forward with An An.

After diagnosing the child, the doctor prescribed antipyretic dication. He also told Ji Wei that An An was too young and that the best approach would still be a physical cooling thod. He advised her to observe him at ho and, if the high fever persisted even after dication, they might need to administer an IV.

After thanking the staff, Ji Wei took An An ho.

An An’s high fever fluctuated, especially at night, when the baby cried and only wanted to be held by Ji Wei.

Ji Wei hardly slept at all that night, continuously soothing the child while taking An An’s temperature and using lukewarm water to wipe his limbs to reduce the fever. Aunt Zhu initially wanted to help, but considering her age and inability to handle the exhaustion, Ji Wei sent her back to her room.

The little guy was restless for two days before the high fever finally broke on the morning of the third day.

With his illness gone, An An recovered his energy. As soon as Ji Wei picked him up, he grinned and chuckled. Seeing her son smile as adorably as an angel, she felt all the efforts of the past few days were worth it.

Aunt Zhu pushed the door open and ca in, noticing Ji Wei’s sunken eye sockets with dark circles around them. She gently took An An from her arms, "Madam, please take a proper rest. You haven’t had a solid sleep for days, and you’ll wear yourself out like this."

Ji Wei smiled faintly and nodded, not refusing Aunt Zhu’s kindness.

After Aunt Zhu left with An An, Ji Wei fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

She slept straight through until it was getting dark outside.

Lately, Ji Wei had been having severe insomnia, and today she finally had a deep sleep without a single thought in her mind.

She opened her eyes and slowly sat up, intending to get out of bed and check on her son when the phone on the bedside table suddenly rang.

The call was from Xia Duoduo; Ji Wei answered without hesitation.

"Little Wei, do you have plans for tonight?" Xia Duoduo’s voice ca through, accompanied by a noisy and chaotic background.

Ji Wei frowned slightly and asked, "Duoduo, where are you?"

"At a bar," Xia Duoduo answered loudly.

"Which bar?"

"An Jue..."

"Wait there, I’ll co over right away!"

Ji Wei was uneasy about Xia Duoduo being alone at the bar, and judging by her voice, she must have drunk quite a bit. Ji Wei quickly tidied up and hurried downstairs.

When Aunt Zhu saw her, she walked over, "Madam, dinner is almost ready. Are you going out?"

Ji Wei nodded, "Where’s An An?"

"He’s asleep."

"Aunt Zhu, please take care of An An for . I might be back a bit late."

"Sure, no problem."

The heavy tal rock music in the bar was deafening. Ji Wei struggled through the crowded dance floor to find Xia Duoduo drinking at the bar.

"Little Wei, you’re here!" Xia Duoduo stood up as soon as she saw her, almost falling over.

Ji Wei hurriedly caught her and, seeing the scattered empty bottles in front of the bar, frowned and asked, "How much have you had to drink?"

"Not much, not much..." Xia Duoduo waved her hand frequently, "Keep company for a bit more."

Ji Wei knew Xia Duoduo must have sothing on her mind to be drinking. She sat down on a high stool beside her and looked at her seriously, asking, "Duoduo, what’s going on?"
