Mo Qian walked over to Ji Wei: "Sorry, I’m late."
He kissed her lips apologetically.
The man’s scent was cool and clean, prompting Ji Wei to ask curiously, "Weren’t you going to a bar? Why is there no trace of alcohol on you?"
Mo Qian gently patted her head, his gaze soft as he said, "With your health being unwell right now, I can’t drink. I need to take good care of you." "The bar owner probably thought they’d make a killing tonight, but you didn’t drink at all. Think they’re spitting blood from frustration?"
"No, Old Xi drank quite a lot," Mo Qian replied.
"Oh, lucky for you that Second Young Master Xi saved the day," Ji Wei said playfully.
"Looks like you have quite a good impression of Old Xi," Mo Qian teased, pretending to act jealous as he pinched her chubby cheeks.
"Of course! Second Young Master Xi is so reliable. Last ti when I asked to borrow a boat, he went above and beyond and brought an entire fleet—quite a grand spectacle," Ji Wei said, praising him.
Mo Qian’s eyes narrowed slightly, his mood clearly souring.
"Oh? Isn’t your husband reliable enough?" He tilted her beautiful chin and raised his tone slightly.
Ji Wei had been teasing him all along, so she boldly extended her hand to his bathrobe collar, brushing her fingertips over the exposed skin there. "My husband’s figure is definitely top-notch, super reliable! The feel is amazing!"
Her playful tone amused him, and a smile flickered in Mo Qian’s deep eyes.
He grasped Ji Wei’s hand, guiding it to explore further inside his open bathrobe, resting on his firm and muscular chest. "How does it feel now?"
Ji Wei could distinctly feel Mo Qian’s steady heartbeat.
Thump, thump, thump...
She suddenly looked up and found herself locked in those deep, sea-like eyes, flas of passion burning within.
Ji Wei felt her cheeks flush hot.
Oh my gosh, she had accidentally gone too far in teasing him!
Stop, stop imdiately!
"Mo Qian, your hair is still damp. Let blow-dry it for you, okay?" she quickly found an excuse to withdraw her hand.
"Can you? Your current condition..."
"Don’t underestimate ! It’s just a pregnancy; I’m not that fragile. Go get the hairdryer!" Ji Wei nudged him.
Mo Qian didn’t refuse any further and soon fetched the hairdryer from the drawer.
The hospital room was quiet, the silent-mode hairdryer emitting only a faint humming sound.
Mo Qian sat completely still, letting her soft hands run through his short hair as Ji Wei earnestly blow-dried it.
A peculiar feeling rose in his heart—his lips curved into a subtle smile at the thought that this was the first ti a woman had willingly blow-dried his hair.
Xia Duoduo erged from the bathroom and was imdiately stunned by the heartwarming scene of the two at the bedside, drying hair.
So this is what happiness looks like, even when doing the simplest of things with soone you love.
How enviable.
Thinking about her own current romantic situation, Xia Duoduo couldn’t help but feel a sour tang in her nose. Not daring to look at the couple any longer, she leaned against the wall and walked back to her room, closing the door behind her.
Sliding under the covers, Xia Duoduo fished out her phone, pulling up Ye Cheng’s number.
She stared at the string of digits she already knew by heart, lost in thought for a long ti.

After sending the ssage, Xia Duoduo couldn’t bring herself to put down the phone, letting the screen dim over and over, only to light it up again with a touch.
Yet, there was no response from the other side.
Thirty minutes passed, and feeling increasingly dejected, she silenced her phone and stuffed it under her pillow. Pulling the blanket over her head, she forced herself to sleep.
