"Old Mo, hit or scold however you want! It’s my fault for failing to protect her. I’m sorry!" Xi Nanfeng lowered his head in deep self-bla.
"Don’t bla Brother Nanfeng! It was Sister Wei who willingly sacrificed herself to protect and let those people take her away." Qin Sixue, who had been hiding upstairs in her room, rushed downstairs upon hearing the commotion.
She stepped in front of the group, defending Xi Nanfeng.
"I’m a man, and I failed to protect the won. I’ve also let down Old Mo’s trust!" Xi Nanfeng said solemnly.
Gu Moqian ignored his apologies, abruptly let go, and turned away to leave. His steps lacked the usual composure, appearing frantic and disorderly.
"Old Mo, it’s a trap. You can’t rush into it like this." Ye Cheng quickly stepped forward, raising a hand to stop him.
"Ji Wei is in danger." Gu Moqian’s expression was icy as he flung his hand free from Ye Cheng’s grip.
Ye Cheng’s pupils contracted slightly, pressing his thin lips together without further persuasion.
He knew all too well how deeply Gu Moqian cared for Ji Wei.
Zii suddenly interjected, "Mr. Gu, you can borrow my n first." Dealing with Yamamoto Yu was not sothing that could be done single-handedly.
Gu Moqian was just about to respond when his phone suddenly chid with a text ssage.
Only Ye Cheng and a few others knew his phone number, so who could be ssaging him?
Gu Moqian hesitated briefly before taking out his phone.
Ji Wei: Moqian, don’t worry. I’m temporarily safe. Yamamoto Yu doesn’t intend to harm ; he just wants to keep here to bait you into falling for his trap. I have a plan now, and I can even bring Ji Chuyang into it...
Gu Moqian read the text several tis over, the tension in his face beginning to ease.
He quickly replied: Alright, I’ll start making arrangents now and cooperate with your plan.
He summarized the contents of Ji Wei’s ssage to the group, which left everyone both shocked and relieved. Gu Moqian scanned everyone in the room and said in a grave tone, "This place is no longer safe. We need to evacuate imdiately."
...
Ji Wei was still in the sa room as last ti.
After getting Gu Moqian’s reply, she felt as though she’d swallowed a calming pill, her mood much steadier.
She calmly took a shower, dried her hair, and then sat at the bedside, picking up a book to read unenthusiastically, her gaze occasionally drifting toward the sliding lattice door.
The door cast a shadow that revealed the presence of one of Yamamoto Yu’s n.
She knew that every move she made here would be reported to Yamamoto Yu by the people monitoring her.
After reading the book for about half an hour, Ji Wei began yawning. "I’m so tired. Ti to sleep." She muttered to herself deliberately loud enough for the people outside to hear.
Soon after, she turned off the bedside lamp.
The room fell into complete darkness, yet Ji Wei’s eyes remained wide open, showing no sign of sleepiness.
When the shadow outside the door finally moved away, she slowly sat up in bed and quietly dressed and slipped on her shoes.
anwhile, Ji Chuyang was loudly moaning in pain, clutching his stomach.
"Soone get in here and take to the hospital! My stomach hurts so bad—it’s killing ! I must’ve eaten sothing wrong!" Ji Chuyang cried out in agony, hunched over on the bed with his face twisted in pain.
Two n in black stood motionless in the center of the room, their hands clasped behind their backs, their expressions indifferent as they watched him, completely unresponsive.
Ji Chuyang had tried similar tricks to escape before, and this ti, they were determined not to be fooled.
"It hurts, it hurts so much... Am I going to die?"
Ji Chuyang continued wailing, his body suddenly convulsing as foam started spilling from his mouth. He collapsed onto the bedchead, motionless.
The two n in black finally noticed that sothing was wrong and rushed over to slap his face. Ji Chuyang’s face was colorless, utterly lifeless.
One of the n in black quickly spotted a glass on the bedside table with so powder residue around the rim.
He picked up a bit of the powder for a sniff, his expression instantly shifting.
Rat poison!
