Ji Wei finally figured out who the woman Yamamoto Yu was talking about was.

She had even deluded herself into thinking that the woman was Yamamoto Yu’s long-lost forr lover...

"You resemble your mother so much that the mont I saw you, I recognized you." Yamamoto Yu answered honestly.

Ji Wei stared at Yamamoto Yu in disbelief.

"Why are you telling this?" Ji Wei’s voice trembled.

"I want to know if your mother lived a happy life..." Yamamoto Yu reached for a photo fra and tenderly touched the elegant, beautiful face of the woman inside it.

"I don’t know." Ji Wei spoke softly.

Yamamoto Yu turned his head in surprise: "You don’t know? You’re her daughter."

"When I was eleven, I hit my head badly, and I lost all my previous mories," Ji Wei replied lightly. "Even though I can recognize my mom’s picture, I feel no connection to her."

Yamamoto Yu: "..."

He never expected that the answer he had been searching for was sothing Ji Wei couldn’t provide.

"Over the years, has your dad never ntioned anything about them?" Yamamoto Yu asked, unwilling to give up.

Ji Wei shook her head: "Rarely. My dad only mutters my mom’s na occasionally when he’s drunk. Other tis, he won’t say a word."

Coupled with the fact that her grandmother intentionally prevented her from knowing anything about her mother, Ji Wei understood even less about her own mother, Ms. Wanfei, or what kind of person she truly was.

Ji Wei drifted into thought for a mont, then looked at Yamamoto Yu and suddenly smiled: "Why don’t you tell yourself, what kind of person my mom was."

Yamamoto Yu fell silent.

After a long ti, he raised his head and looked at Ji Wei, a faint bitter smile playing on his lips: "Your mother probably hated . Even if you were to learn about her past, it shouldn’t co from my mouth. If you ever have the chance, you should go to London—that’s where your mother’s hotown is."

London...

Ji Wei was astonished.

Could her mother have been a foreigner?

Yamamoto Yu lowered his gaze to the photo in his hand. There was another man pictured there as well. He suddenly asked, "How’s your father doing then? Is he in good health?"

"Good, of course he’s good." Ji Wei replied. "He’s not as old as you, still as dashing and charming as ever. In my heart, my dad is the best!"

After learning that Yamamoto Yu held unusual feelings for her mother, Ji Wei couldn’t help but provoke him with her words.

This Yamamoto Yu—cunning, ruthless, and scheming—was completely unworthy of liking soone as gentle and beautiful as her mother!

Sure enough, upon hearing her words, Yamamoto Yu wavered slightly, his body trembling. He laughed at himself: "I am indeed old now, and I’ve got a la leg. If Wanfei were still around, who knows how she’d mock for this."

At least the old man had the decency to recognize his shortcomings!

"So you can stop dreaming. I am absolutely never going to be your adopted daughter. My mother didn’t choose you back then, and I won’t either."

Ji Wei’s words hit Yamamoto Yu where it hurt. His face turned visibly pale, and it took him quite so ti to recover before he waved his hand: "Fine, I won’t force you."

"You’ve already asked your questions. So even if only for my mother’s sake, shouldn’t you be letting go now?"

"I can." Yamamoto Yu placed the photo fra back in its place and turned to her. "But first, you have to convince Mr. Gu to share the secret route that the Gu Family has been secretly operating in Britain. If you manage that, not only will I let you go, but I’ll allow you to take Ji Chuyang back with you."

Ji Wei frowned deeply at his words.

"Mo Qian would never disclose that kind of trade secret to anyone. Since you refuse to release , then I’ll stay here in your villa, just like Ji Chuyang, eating and drinking at your expense. When the ti cos, Mr. Yamamoto, don’t regret it!"
