Chapter 993: Chapter 993: Unexplained Sense of Trust Chapter 993: Chapter 993: Unexplained Sense of Trust Given Xaviera Evans’ usual character, even if Mrs. Hughes was trying to gain her favor, she would remain guarded, suspecting that all this could be a sche by the Hughes family, rely wanting to test if she was truly unconscious. But hearing Mrs. Hughes’ anxious voice, Xaviera surprisingly felt a surge of trust.

Witnessing the urgent deanor of Mrs. Hughes, Xaviera decided not to feign unconsciousness any longer and opened her clear eyes.

Seeing Xaviera awake, Mrs. Hughes was both shocked and relieved: “Thank goodness! Miss Evans, you’re finally awake!”

Xaviera observed the woman in front of her. Her eyes showed no trace of malice, only deep concern and joy, but Xaviera couldn’t understand – she had never t Mrs. Hughes before, so why was Mrs. Hughes showing such concern for her?

Mrs. Hughes, after all, was Zora Hughes’ mother. Instead of caring about her own daughter, why was she concerned about soone irrelevant? Why would that be?

“I’m okay,” Xaviera slowly sat up.

Mrs. Hughes grabbed her hand, both anxious and fearful: “You must leave now! If you continue to stay in the Hughes family, they will kill you! I’ll take you out, and once you’re out, imdiately seek Mr. Caleb Mat for help, don’t hesitate!”

Suddenly, footsteps ca from outside. Mrs. Hughes stiffened, her forehead full of perspiration. She was clearly terrified.

Xaviera frowned. After all, Mrs. Hughes was Jonas Hughes’ wife and Zora’s mother, so why was she like a frightened bird in front of other mbers of the Hughes family, completely lacking the deanor of the hostess?

Jonas Hughes’ voice ca from the doorway: “Dad, ti is almost up. If we don’t think of a solution, Mr. Caleb Mat will break in.”

Madam Hughes hurriedly responded, “That’s easy to solve! We just tell them that Xaviera wants to stay longer in the Hughes family! Marrying her off to Caleb Mat wouldn’t bring any benefits to us. Now we just have to send Zora to Caleb’s side, let him make his own choice. Our beautiful and gentle Zora is not soone any man would reject. She can surely secure her position as Mrs. Mat and then our whole family can enjoy the benefits.”

Mrs. Hughes in the guest room frowned, her eyes full of sadness and pain. Sad about her daughter being used as a bargaining chip, and painful seeing her willingly stoop to the sa level as the rest of the Hughes family.

Xaviera had always suspected that Mrs. Hughes was just a random woman the Hughes family brought in to keep up appearances that Jonas Hughes and his wife were still in love, deeply in love. The real Mrs. Hughes might have disappeared long ago.

In the Hughes family, no one seed to take Mrs. Hughes seriously. Her husband and daughter treated her as if she didn’t exist and the servants didn’t appear to respect her either. But the affection this Mrs. Hughes had for Zora was genuine. Her pain for her daughter was expressed from her heart, an emotion that couldn’t be faked.

Could this Mrs. Hughes actually be Zora Hughes’ biological mother? Why would a weak but kind-hearted woman give birth to a scheming daughter like Zora?

Madam Hughes’ voice ca again from outside: “With Zora’s company, Caleb Mat will no longer look for Xaviera. And if he insists on seeing Xaviera, we’ll just tell him she’s asleep and that we will arrange for a driver to send her back when she wakes up. What happens on the way, we cannot guarantee.”

Everyone understood Madam Hughes’ aning and left.

When the outside quieted down, Mrs. Hughes nervously spoke: “Let’s go! I will help you escape!”

“If you take out, it will be even easier for them to discover us. Moreover, they will not let you off the hook. I don’t want to involve others,” Xaviera stated indifferently.

Mrs. Hughes was visibly distressed. She held onto Xaviera’s hand anxiously, “Miss Evans, if you don’t leave now, it will be too late! They won’t let you leave because they…”

Watching the hesitant Mrs. Hughes, Xaviera just smiled. She obviously knew what Cory Hughes was planning – to use her as a test subject for the antidote, thus detoxifying all the mbers of the Hughes family. It would be difficult to escape, let alone survive.

A hint of disdain flashed in her eyes. As for the Hughes family, she never took them seriously. She gave Mrs. Hughes a slight smile: “Thank you, but I can’t leave yet. You better go first.”

“I know you’re staying here for Miss Nina’s relics. I know where those are, they’re all in Nidya Hughes’ room, including so valuable jewelry and clothes!” Mrs. Hughes nervously blurted out.
