Watching Zora cry in pain, everyone felt pity for her. Yet Xaviera still relied on her position as Mrs. Mat to not admit the truth, making Zora swallow her anger.
How could Xaviera be so arrogant? She was the one who did wrong, but she used Mrs. Mat’s status to suppress the victim, showing her moral depravity and complete lack of conscience!
“Miss Hughes, don’t cry. Your makeup is smudging. You aren’t that good-looking to begin with, but now you’re even uglier,” Xaviera teased. Zora quickly wiped away her tears, took out a makeup mirror, and checked her face, afraid that Caleb might dislike her disheveled appearance. Her eyes were red, but her makeup was intact, making her look even more pitiful. It was then that Zora realized she had been mocked.
Before Zora could respond, Xaviera said nonchalantly: “Miss Hughes, you say you don’t want to ruin our marriage, but your family released the news of your engagent to Caleb. How co? Playing the whore while still wanting to appear virtuous?”
Anger filled Zora’s face, her heart burning with rage as she retorted, “Xaviera, what right do you have to say that? I was the one originally engaged to Caleb, and I’m the victim here! I never thought of myself as a third party!”
Xaviera showed a cold smile, slowly approaching Zora and whispering in her ear, “Zora, it’s a pity you’re not an actress, because you almost had convinced.”
Zora looked up, eting Xaviera’s indifferent gaze, and felt her heart skip a beat. Why was Xaviera still so composed?
Jonas also sensed that sothing was wrong and tried to stop Xaviera from speaking, but she had already begun: “Miss Hughes, you say you don’t want to be the third party, but you forced Caleb into that role in order to achieve your goal. How inhumane! Your reputation matters more than Caleb’s life?”
The room fell silent, everyone staring at Xaviera in disbelief. What was she talking about? Caleb being the third party?
Soone angrily protested, “What nonsense are you talking about! It’s you who ssed up, and now you’re just throwing dirt on others! What’s the use of that?”
Another person calmly suggested, “Quiet down and listen to what Mr. Mat has to say.”
All eyes turned to Caleb, who casually replied, “I do have a fiancée, but I never said my fiancée was Miss Hughes.”
The room was filled with gasps at his words. He actually denied that Zora was his fiancée?!
Pale-faced, Zora implored, “Caleb, you can’t deny our engagent just because you like Xaviera. The Drew family has also confird it.”
“Miss Hughes, let remind you that the Drew family’s approval doesn’t represent my will. Also, don’t call Caleb as we’re not close. You clearly have a fiancé but still have the audacity to want to marry . What makes you think you deserve that? Did you ever think about how your fiancé would feel?”

Everyone was stunned, flabbergasted. After a mont of silence, the heated buzz resud.
“Did I hear that right? Mr. Mat said Miss Hughes has another fiancé? How can that be?”
“Both the Hughes and Drew families confird the engagent, so could they be lying? Even if the Hughes family might be lying, the Drew family is Mr. Mat’s maternal grandparents’ house. They have no reason to lie!”
“Moreover, this issue has caused such a stir. If Miss Hughes really has another fiancé, why hasn’t he appeared?”
Zora stiffened, her face white as a sheet, fear in her eyes. She felt helpless, asking, “Caleb… Mr. Mat, what are you talking about? I don’t understand.”
Once, the Hughes family had worried about their secret being exposed, but as a prominent family in Lokio, they had the ans to cover it up. And after so many years, who would know their secret?
At that mont, Cory Hughes’s body went limp, and he trembled violently but still clenched his teeth to refute, “Mr. Mat, even if you don’t want to acknowledge the engagent, you shouldn’t slander Zora’s reputation like this.”
Madam Hughes glared at the Russell family mbers, hatred filling her heart. As the mistress of the Hughes family, here she was being looked down upon by Jero. She vowed that soday, Zora would replace Xaviera and marry Caleb, pushing the Hughes family above the Russells, and Letitia would never dare raise her head again.
