Chapter 34: Chapter 34 Get out
Victoria’s POV:
I could see Catherine was determined to barge in, and Jeff couldn’t stop her.
"Alpha, I don’t know what she told you, but things absolutely didn’t happen that way," Catherine rushed in, imdiately shifting bla to . "I just discovered her sneaking around the company looking through confidential docunts, so I suspected her of ill intentions and demanded she leave. Please don’t believe anything she told you!"
I watched Damian’s expression darken.
"Get out," he commanded.
Catherine didn’t back down. "Alpha, I’ve worked for Blood Moon Pack for many years. I would never harm our interests. I don’t care if she knows you—reviewing company files without permission is wrong, and I stand by my decision."
Damian’s dark eyes narrowed. "What exactly happened?"
Jeff stepped forward after investigating the situation. "Here’s what happened, Alpha."
He concisely explained everything, even showing the elevator surveillance footage that clearly showed
entering first, with Smith and his team following afterward. The footage proved I hadn’t intentionally eavesdropped. The caras captured everything—how Smith’s team tried to use language barriers to deceive
Group into accepting unfavorable contract terms, and how I exposed their sche. Without my intervention, they might have agreed to Smith’s terms.
After hearing this, Damian looked at Catherine with ice-cold eyes, his dark gaze frosted with unmistakable contempt.
"So she saved
from major losses, and instead of thanking her, you tried to throw her out?" His voice was deliberately controlled, filled with undeniable authority that made my wolf Nora bristle in recognition of another Alpha’s power.
Catherine stood there frozen, unable to move under his stare.
She bit her lip, her commanding female executive image from downstairs completely dissolving in front of Damian, reduced to a submissive pack mber before an Alpha.
"I... I didn’t think it through carefully. It was my oversight. I was too hasty," Catherine pleaded, playing the emotional card. "But my concerns were reasonable. After all, she’s not a mber of our pack or company. I was just thinking of our interests. I’ve devoted years to this company, Alpha. We’ve worked together for so long—you know !"
I could hear what she was really doing—deliberately emphasizing her years of service and relationship with Damian for my benefit. She wanted
to know she was Damian’s trusted business partner, not just so random woman who could be easily replaced.
"She’s painting herself as the victim. Whatever she told you must be biased. Please don’t believe her," Catherine continued, obviously assuming I had run to Damian to complain.
"Believe what?" Damian’s voice carried obvious irritation. "Since she walked in, she hasn’t ntioned you once."
If Catherine hadn’t barged in and exposed herself, Damian wouldn’t have known what happened.
"What?" Catherine stared at
in disbelief. "That’s impossible!"
I finally decided to speak up. "What’s impossible about it? Do you think everyone is as petty as you?"
I wasn’t the type to run crying to others for protection. When sothing truly bothered , I preferred handling it myself rather than having others fight my battles.
"This minor incident obviously weighs heavily on your mind, but not everyone gives it the sa importance," I continued, my wolf Nora practically purring with satisfaction at Catherine’s discomfort.
"I... it’s not like that," Catherine stamred. "I just ca to explain myself. I didn’t an to target you specifically."
"I never accused you of deliberately targeting ," I replied smoothly. "I understand your concerns and caution. But forcing
to leave the building? Can you honestly say that wasn’t from personal dislike rather than professional judgnt?"
Catherine shook her head frantically. "No, why would I dislike you? How could I possibly have personal motives?"
I had figured it out by now. This woman’s hostility toward
was almost certainly because of Damian. She harbored feelings for him but lacked the courage to express them openly, so she vented her jealousy by targeting .
Understanding this, I decided to hold nothing back. When attacking soone, I preferred aiming for the heart.
"No? Perhaps I misunderstood," I said with a deliberate smile. "But I may be visiting Blood Moon Pack frequently in the future, so you should rember my face to avoid any further... misunderstandings."
I pulled Damian’s jacket from my bag and held it up. "Damian, here’s your jacket back. It’s so big—just like you. Aren’t we planning to go to your place? How about tonight? I want to try what I’ve learned recently~"
I deliberately made my statent ambiguous, not specifying that I was referring to new recipes I’d learned. After all, I did owe Damian a al, and he had invited
to his ho.
But watching Catherine’s face lose all color was worth this ambiguity. Her mind was obviously racing with implications about
wearing Damian’s clothes, going to his ho, trying "new things" I’d learned...
Damian crossed his legs, seeming to recognize my deliberate ga.
Catherine looked like she might faint from anxiety, waiting for his response...
