The Abyssal Burrow began trembling violently, stones cracking and collapsing inward.
Without hesitation, Adrian and Nyxaris sprinted toward the surface, dodging falling debris.
They burst into the pale moonlight just as the ancient ruin caved in behind them, sealing away whatever other secrets had been hidden below.
Panting, brushing dust from his cloak, Adrian looked at his new companion.Nyxaris flicked its spectral tail and, for the first ti, spoke aloud: "Let’s hunt sothing stronger next ti." Adrian’s mouth twisted into a rare smirk. "You read my mind."
Side by side, the God Slayer and his shadow-forged familiar vanished into the desert night, both unaware of the wars, gods, and horrors that awaited them beyond the dunes.
