After the encounter with Tulka tribesn, none of the soldiers dared to irk Malachi, for they knew the punishnt. Still, a few of them weren’t lucky enough and died at the hands of their commander and their body devoured by his sword.
So would wonder why a commander would target his own people. The answer was simple: Malachi didn’t care about anyone but himself. That was why he joined the exiled corpse in the first place.
The higher-ups were only bothered with the results and wouldn’t question his thods as long as they perford to their expectations. No one would blink an eye even if Malachi absorbed the entire force, as they were criminals, nothing more or nothing less.
However, he knew the higher-ups had evidence of his ’atrocities’ and wouldn’t hesitate to use them if he ever ssed up. This was one more reason why Malachi trusted only himself.
No one else would bother about his life, just like he didn’t care about the many people that went ’Missing in action’ under his leadership.
However, the tension of the mission wasn’t the only reason why he was pissed. He didn’t like the tone the Tulka tribe leader had used with him, nor how he underestimated him.
But Malachi couldn’t do anything except bite his tongue and leave. The Tulka tribe had been a crucial ally for the Nexarians and would continue to be one as long as the Banurs were around.
If he made a wrong move against them, it would’ve invited an execution squad to hunt him down. After all, he was as replaceable to the higher-ups as the ones beneath him were to him.
"The day Banurs die, your downfall starts," Malachi growled, rembering the leader’s arrogant deanour. "Rember my words, you savage scum. Giving us this map is the only right thing you’ve accomplished in your entire life."
As angry as Malachi was at the Tulka tribe, he was also thankful for the map they had given to them. Finding their way through the forest would have been almost impossible without it. In the worst scenario, they might have died even before comncing the attack on the Banurs.
While Malachi continued on his angry charge, the rest of his team wasn’t as confident as him. While the nobles were ignorant, most of the criminals there had heard about the demonic tribe and the rituals they perford using the hostages.
Many of them joined the expedition, hoping they could sneak past Malachi without him noticing and be free. But they knew it wouldn’t be that easy once they set foot in the forest.
Without the map to guide them, the forest would swallow them alive if they dared attempt to escape. So now, they were stuck hoping to defeat the tribe or die before the Banurs caught them.
It didn’t take long to arrive at the edge of the forest with the destroyed settlent of the Banur tribe in sight. However, instead of attacking them without a second thought, Malachi decided to wait and watch them.
Most of the tribe was busy rebuilding and didn’t carry much weaponry. Those few that did have weapons were stationed on or near tad beasts.
Keeping the beasts on guard was a good strategy, as they could spot an enemy and alert the rest. However, this ti, the strategy would lead to the tribe’s downfall.
"Perfect," Malachi smiled, licking his lips excitedly. "We will proceed as planned. Unload the chillies and load them up!"
Everyone got to work without loitering around. The massive packs of chillies were unloaded and quickly mixed with gunpowder, along with so other explosives.
The plan was simple. The soldiers would craft deployable explosives and throw them towards the settlent. The noise from the explosions would confuse the beasts, while the chilli would make the creatures go haywire and add more panic.
The soldiers would take advantage of the chaos and keep using explosives while charging in, and before the Banurs could fight back, the battle would be over.
"Let’s do this!"

The explosions kept going on one after the other. The tribe panicked as explosions endlessly echoed through the air. People scread and ran for cover as debris flew around them. The ground shook with each blast, causing chaos and confusion.
anwhile, the beasts in the vicinity were also frightened by the explosions, which, coupled with the spicy sll in the air, caused them to forget all their training and run for their lives.
They ran wildly, attacking anything and everything in their path. The sound of their roars added to the terror of the tribe, who huddled together in fear, unsure of what to do next.
Amidst rampant explosions, a massive direwolf, scared and frantic, charged through the commotion. Unaware of its surroundings, it thundered forward, its path dangerously close to a small kid who had fallen in the creature’s way.
The child lay helpless on the ground, oblivious to the impending danger. By the ti anyone realised what was happening, it was too late. The child’s end seed inevitable.
Out of nowhere, Adrian appeared before the child, tackling the direwolf to the ground rely inches away from the kid who was now crying, realising the danger he had been in.
anwhile, Rina, who had been running behind Adrian, scooped up the fallen child and rushed to safety. Still grappling with the dire wolf to the ground, Adrian used [Illusionary Eyes] to calm down the raging beast and let go once everyone was safe.
"Off you go now," Adrian shooed away the beast.
Only at that mont did he realise everyone was looking at him. He could sense their confusion, unsure of what to make of him.
A part of Adrian thought about taking advantage of the uncertainty, trying to make the tribals view him favourably, but he decided not to. It wasn’t the ti for that when he didn’t know what the hell was going on there.
"Huh, at least it isn’t you this ti. I don’t know if it’s good or bad."
Adrian turned around to see Akila leading a group of warriors into battle.
"...thanks for believing in ," Adrian sarcastically replied.
There was more that Adrian wanted to say, but they were interrupted before he could. The enemy had shown themselves.
"Nexarians!" Akila yelled as the army attacked the
