While Adrian’s plan had worked, it didn’t take him long to hit another snag. Once underwater, he found that although the trolls were terrible swimrs, their lung capacity was nothing to laugh at, as they could hold their breaths for more than an hour.
Waiting longer to see how long the trolls could hold their breaths wasn’t an option, especially with Sophia still missing. The ti inside the dungeon shared a different flow than the outside world, which posed another problem.
Besides, Adrian knew the other heroes were looking for Sophia, and the more ti passed inside the dungeon, the greater the risk that they would discover the dungeon and block Adrian’s escape. He wanted to avoid that at all costs.
If that wasn’t enough, there was another problem. Holding the Minotaur’s Broadsword, Adrian realised sothing – he didn’t know how to fight underwater. He could barely hold his own on land, so he could forget about fighting under the sea.
’This isn’t what I had in mind,’ Adrian thought as he swam towards the trolls.
Although he knew it would be difficult, he didn’t want to back out. As he got close enough, he swung the sword, only to realise the sword underwater was way slower than he had thought; the thick water had made everything sluggish.
’This is gonna be tougher than I imagined.’
While his attacks successfully connected, the monstrous and resilient trolls seed unfazed by the slow swings. Adrian’s attacks barely scratched them, and any damage he managed to inflict was healed in no ti.
’This viscosity is killing my speed, and their healing is making this pointless.’
Frustration camped on Adrian’s face as he realised the underwater battle wasn’t working in his favour.
Thankfully, the trolls were having a much harder ti underwater than Adrian. Not only did they have to be careful about not breathing underwater, but unlike him, they weren’t built for underwater battles, and their movents were slow and awkward.
As such, Adrian was pretty safe and didn’t have to worry about being attacked by the Trolls. However, lacking ways to deal with the trolls, both parties were stuck in a stalemate.
With nothing else to do, Adrian decided to use his [Analysis] skill once more. His eyes glowed faintly as he focused on the trolls, hoping to find a weakness that could destroy the limbo they were stuck within.
"Potent poison... That’s the one thing I don’t have!" he thought, recalling a missed opportunity to gain the poisonous edge he desperately needed. "I should’ve absorbed those Ratling glands when I had the chance."
As regretful thoughts entered his mind, he shook off the doubt, reminding himself of the countless tis [Camouflage] had saved him since gaining the ability. However, he needed to do sothing other than dwell on his past decisions.
Then, like a bolt of lightning, an idea struck him. He was surrounded by a vast sea teeming with life, including potentially poisonous creatures. If he could find sothing toxic, he could use it against the trolls. But there was a problem.
If he left the trolls alone, they would probably escape by the ti he returned with poison. Adrian needed to keep them occupied, and luckily, he knew just how to do it.
Swiftly, he swam towards one of the trolls, evading its sluggish attack before using his [Illusionary Eyes] ability to manipulate its vision. He repeated the process with the second troll. Soon enough, the trolls were entangled in a misguided brawl. Each convinced the other was the enemy.
Adrian knew it would work since it was a tried and tested technique. Besides, the illusion wasn’t harming the trolls, so there was a negligible chance that their regenerative abilities would fix their clouded vision.
With the trolls distracted, Adrian sped towards the ocean floor, his eyes scanning the ocean floor for anything useful. Thankfully, luck was on his side for once as he stumbled upon a nest of sea snakes nestled under the protection of a reef.
"This should do the trick." He grinned, satisfied with his find.
The vicious-looking snakes were not one to be ssed with, but Adrian had no choice. He used [Minon Fury] nest to the reef to crack it open, and before the serpents could gather their thoughts, he snatched a couple of them in his arms and began the journey back to the Trolls.
When Adrian returned, he noticed the trolls were still fighting, swinging their massive arms at each other. But none of their hits seed to do any damage.
He hoped there would be so damage on the Trolls that would hasten the poison’s effect, but that didn’t seem to be the case. Still, the trolls being preoccupied was a blessing as Adrian proceeded with the next part of his plan.
Adrian swam closer, careful not to attract attention, but then decided to use [Camouflage] as an extra precaution.
Once close enough, he snatched the shorts made of direwolf fur from the troll’s waist and quickly tossed a snake inside it. He did the sa with the other troll, ensuring the snakes were trapped.
Adrian didn’t want those snakes to escape and bite sothing they shouldn’t. After he was done, he swam away, keeping a close eye on the trolls.
The dumb fucks were so engrossed in fighting each other that they didn’t even notice the snakes coiling inside their shorts.
’Seriously, they’ve got the brains to cover their crotch but can’t spot a sneaky snake slithering around in there?’ Adrian scratched his head as he waited for the poison to take effect.
As the trolls continued their slow and seemingly endless fight, Adrian noticed their movents turn sluggish. Exhaustion of fighting underwater and the poison were taking effect.
He waited a bit longer until the trolls finally dropped to their knees, too weakened by the venom to continue exchanging blows.
Adrian knew it was ti to finish them if he wanted to gain sothing for all the trouble he had gone through. With the poison slowing down their regeneration, Adrian’s strike, which couldn’t even scratch their skin before, was enough to end the creatures.
He unleashed [Minion Fury] once more, swinging the Minotaur’s Broadsword to chop off the heads of both trolls at the sa ti. Within seconds, two notifications appeared before him, confirming the monster’s death.
[You have killed an Isla Troll! Exp 750] [Current Exp: 400/1400]
[You have killed an Isla Troll! Exp 750] [Current Exp: 1150/1400]
[You have levelled up! Current Level: 13]
Adrian ignored the notifications and got to work, using the [Organ Absorption] skill, but sothing weird happened. Instead of a list of available organs, Adrian received a separate notification.
[You’ve hit the cap on simultaneous organ usage. Kindly choose an existing organ to replace and try again.]
