Finally, back ho, Adrian had one final task to accomplish. He approached the heavy tal doors of the cold storage room. Since his body had developed weather resistance after absorbing so many organs, the cold room had beco his personal space.

He reached the doors and grabbed the large iron handles. With a grunt, he pulled them open, the hinges creaking slightly. Once inside, he turned to close the doors, ensuring they were securely locked.

He had no idea what would happen to him during his evolution, and he didn’t want to take any chances and go berserk. That’s why he locked himself in the cold storage and alerted the girls about his plan.

Adrian expected Sophia to throw a fit, especially after what happened earlier. But to his surprise, she was okay with it.

’She knows I always end up in troubleso situations and believes that getting stronger is my best chance at survival, so she didn’t object to my proposal.’

’Yeah, Sophia and Seraphina are good strategists.’

’It was a joke...’

[The higher entity, The Monkey Sage with a Golden Headband, shakes his head and says, It’s good the mortal is handso or else...]

[Countless entities nod in agreent.]

[Few entities are complaining about their single status, comparing themselves to the User.]

’...’

Ignoring the comnts on his rizzing abilities, Adrian reached into his spatial inventory. With a flick of his wrist, Charles’s corpse materialised before him, falling on the cold floor like a ragdoll.

Adrian looked down at the corpse, his face expressionless. He had no sympathy for Charles. Hell, he still wished he could make his death worse.

"At least he’d be useful to in his death," Adrian mumbled.

He rembered the questions he was asked while leaving the DRA headquarters. The reporters wanted to know what happened to the one he was fighting.

Adrian only had one response for them: Get out of his way.

After everything that happened, why were the reporters hell-bent on knowing Charles’s whereabouts? There was one reason: the reporters were asking what Maria paid them to ask about him.

’Either that or they were Hera’s fanatic followers,’ Adrian sighed, shaking those thoughts out of his mind and using [Analysis] on the corpse.

-- Remarks: This enhancent dramatically increases the User’s lee damage and striking power, making it useful for both offensive and defensive manoeuvres.

-- Status: Available

>> Adrenal Gland: Harvesting the target’s adrenal gland could grant the User an adrenaline rush ability, temporarily boosting physical performance and reflexes in critical situations.

"...that’s it?" Adrian mumbled.

He had a lot of expectations from his first human victim. But it seed all his excitent was for nothing. While he wasn’t expecting sothing extravagant, he didn’t expect to find such lacklustre organs either.

’...if only it wasn’t for the quest.’

Although the options were lacklustre, they didn’t make Adrian’s choice easier. He scratched his eyebrow, unsure which organ to take from Maria’s fallen butler.

Taking the was out of the question. If Adrian wanted to increase his strength and agility, then he would simply invest so stat points in them and not waste a precious organ slot.

It was the sa case with muscle fibre. Which left him with one choice: the Adrenal Gland, as it would give him another ability.

"Fine, let’s get this over with."

Adrian placed his hand over Charles’s corpse like he would with a monster corpse and activated the [Organ Absorption] skill.

He thought sothing would feel different about absorbing a human organ. But surprisingly, everything was the sa.

[Integration Complete.]

[Incorporating a ’Skill’ into Chimaera physiology... Please hold on.]

[The User has obtained the passive skill: Rush Hour]

Adrian wanted to see what the new skill did, even though he had an idea of what it could be, but the system had other plans.

Congratulations!

Quest Completed: The Ascension Quest

The User has conquered the quests given to them and proved their ttle.

Evolution into [True Chimaera] will begin in 5 seconds.

Please be aware that it won’t be a smooth ride.

Post-evolution symptoms include vomiting blood, exhaustion, unsurmountable pain and a tendency to curse everyone around, including system admins and entities.

(Note: Going through the last symptom may lead to unforeseen consequences.)

The User is asked to maintain their composure through the process.

--

The system was not exaggerating when it said Adrian would experience hellish pain. He vomited a mouthful of blood as soon as the process began, but what followed next shook him like nothing ever had.

Adrian’s skin began to peel away, flaking off in sheets like a snake shedding its old scales, quickly to be replaced by new skin.

While on the inside, his bones cracked and shifted, breaking and realigning themselves without any input from him. With every agonising second, he felt each transformation, fully conscious of the changes taking place within him.

Adrian tried to keep himself awake, but eventually, the pain beca too much, and he collapsed from exhaustion while the changes were actively happening to him.
